Good question. Couple reasons. First, the factory negative cable doesn't have any slack on it, so it won't reach all the way over to the negative on the new cranking battery (the one closest to the engine). Second, for sake of simplicity, we did not want to make the customer have to extend the IBS sensor wire by cutting/splicing extra wire onto it. Third, it's debatable whether there would be any benefit of doing that at all. The technical pros and cons of doing that is a longer conversation than we can discuss here, but in short, we don't feel there's enough of a benefit to make it worth the trouble. Yes. There are still several limitations with lithium batteries. First is that, to our knowledge, there are no lithium batteries made in the Group 25 size which fits into our tray. We don't have a single millimeter available to use a larger battery, and the next smaller size available is too small to be worth it. Plus, lithium still doesn't like very low or very high temps, and they also are not suitable for high amp draw applications such as for running a winch. So for those reasons, we're out of luck with running lithium in our dual battery trays. However, you could certainly add a dc-dc charger onto our dual battery system in order to charge a lithium battery located somewhere else, maybe in the rear storage area, for powering a fridge or other camping gear.

Technically you could, but it will be tough to find a battery that will fit next to the factory battery in our tray that is big enough to be worth the effort.
