Just today I wrestled the fuel tank out of my 85. I snapped the fuel line when taking it off. It’s all rusty inside. You’re an inspiration to keep working on mine haha
OMG girl, I am SOOOO glad it didn't ignite when you were hammering on that steel tank with a steel screwdriver! My niece's husband did that on his Ramcharger and ended up burned over 80% of his body! ALWAYS drain a fuel tank BEFORE removing it!!!!
Nice to see your project coming along. I saw you and your Bronco at the Raceway a couple of weeks ago. Makes me miss my 78 Bronco. It also came with a factory standard fuel leak.
Best video I've watched so far and thank you, this is helpful. Please watch those Sparks from your screwdriver when hammering, I'm sure you have a great and loving guardian angel 😊
Great job! Awesome video. You are a step ahead of your bronco project that I am, so it's really nice to see how this stuff comes apart before I actually take it apart.
@@broncobabeadventures4316 Thank you for your reply, Your videos are an inspiration., I'm in the process of replacing the power steering pump in mine. Out side of painting everything a gloss black heat treated paint during the replacement process. I have also replaced the pulley with a billet aluminum polished pulley. I know it sounds crazy about installing something that nice on a crappy old Bronco. But the goal is to eventually rebuild this thing one step at a time. Hopefully I will be able to tackle the brakes next along with a new 4bbl intake manifold and 800 cfm Edelbrock. Please keep sharing your videos!
When I had a79 Bronco I had the smaller gas tank and added two saddle tanks that were I believe 12 or 14 gallons each, fillers were behind the inner wheel liner. Brought it new for 10,500 out the door, miss that old truck.
I remember one of my first bronco projects on my 94 was replacing the rusted gas tank. I opted for a plastic tank even if it was more expensive it wont ever rot or rust now. But side story aside nice lil diy video. Glad to have someone with walk throughs for bronco repairs!
The upgrade is good choice, did the same, but I used Body Speed nuts instead of Nut and Bolt working solo is a Bich, but I will take your Dirt driveway over my rocky one any day. And the "Filler Hose" why did ford make it so dam tuff to install, great video. Just surface rust. Nice and you used Paint not under coating, better choice once under coating gets loose holds water routs out the body or frame.
I don't know how in the holy hell you got it to stay up in place before installing the pan but all I can say is you're one lucky duck. When I did my Bronco I almost went ape shit crazy trying to get the whole damn thing in place and installed. Good Job yo.
Excellent! Can I borrow you for a day? I'm feeling lazy about installing the damn thing after dropping it to replace the fill hose and pump. Orcs cut the hose to swipe fuel. I wrapped the new one with chainmail. Lol! Just a tip to pass along.
Those 1/2 nuts that you showed are called crushed nuts , look at them closely and you'll see thy are out of round ! Great Job on that messy stinky rusted mess.
I have a 79 Bronco great Job!!! like to see people project that im getting to do. one thing have you installed a vapor revovery system into your Bronco prevent it from vapor locking?
Does the skid plate get pressed against the tank which over time created the hole in tank? Or is there a gap since it didn't leak until you loosened skid plate. Awesome job putting it all together, I hope to have another Bronco soon and I guess I can use your videos for training.
Well I guess Matthew answered that. I'm still not sure what happened to my gas tank. It had a pretty substantial dent in it, so wether or not that had anything to do with the leak or not, its seen some shit, lol. Hope you find your Bronco soon! :)
Did you check to see if the float level was correct? Mine shows 3/4 tank when it's full, and empty when I have about 10 gallons left in the tank. Mine is a 26 gallon tank.
I put the straps between the tank and the skid plate. They were less straps and more gaskets. If your thinking actual straps, I didn’t need them because I have a skid plate
That is a vent tube for the gas tank. On 78 California models and all 79's that would hook up to metal tube that ran along the passenger side frame rail and connected to a charcoal canister under the hood. The 78 federal models vented through the gas cap.
You are my hero. Do you want to get married😊 Roll up your sleeves get dirty and get it done. Use your hands arms knees whatever it takes. Big hammer little hammer punch a hole in it but get it done. And do it all with a smile on your face. You are awesome!!! Something you might want to look into is a product called " rust converter" that is not a brand it is just what it is. What you do is very lightly wire brush things down. And I do mean very lightly cuz you want it to be rusty just not flaky. Brush on rust converter. It is very thin and goes a long way it's almost like milk. It will turn green and then eventually black and actually turns into a protectant primer. And then you can paint over it or leave it as is. Word of warning when using rust converter. Do not dip out of the main jug or pour old unused converter back into the main jug. It will contaminate it and ruin it. So only pour into a small container and use as needed. I'm fixing to subscribe and see how your project goes and maybe it will inspire me to do more with my Bronco. Good luck. You are awesome!!!
Haha thank you!! I actually used rust converter when I stripped it down for paint, that stuff is amazing! It was so satisfying to see the rust turn black!! 🤩
@@broncobabeadventures4316 I guess I need to go back to the beginning and watch all of your progress so I am not redundant with advice that you already know. Yes that stuff is amazing. I got a rusty toolbox that I experimented on with that stuff for the first time about 15 years ago and it's still looks like black primer with no new rust.
Beautiful you should not be rolling around in the dirt like that that face is so gorgeous i see you as a weather lady or in a movie some one get her a acting career or something asap
