Ford C4 & C6 Transmission Governor and Modulator Removal with Manual Valve Bodies 

Also it really helps to leave the parts in if in the future you want to convert the transmission back to automatic operation. I did this recently. I bought a rebuilt race C4, took out the manual valve body, removed the modulator freeze plug installed the modulator, pin and valve, put sealing rings in, installed the governor, and automatic valve body and it was back to automatic operation.

Instead of using a tail shaft housing gasket I have found that using no gasket and use Permatex ultra black seals the best. But the tail shaft housing can be difficult to remove. So a simple way to fix this problem is in the lower left hand corner of the back of the housing drill a letter size N hole and tap for a 3/8 inch bolt. Put sealer on the bolt threads and screw it in a few turns. So now when removing the housing in the future just remove the tail housing bolts and turn in the 3/8 inch bolt. This will lift up the corner enough to put a screw driver in to pry off the housing. This works great for 9 inch Ford third members also. Most industrial pumps have this type of jacking bolts to break the seal on flanged equipment.

I cut off the governor sleeve flat across right above the park pawl ... it does remove a trivial amount of weight....especially if you use that principal on the whole drag car....

I appreciate your video Tell people to put a Freeze plug in.Never an old modulator to Stop the leak I can see how somebody can't get past that. Taking transmission out changing valve body. Is a big deal for average guy? You know what I mean, jelly bean? The dude just wants to do a good job.
