Great vid felt like it only went for 20 mins you got the skills to pay the bills, what greases are you using and how long before first oil change? got a performance pan fill C4 build vid? im gonna have to watch this again to learn something first time was just watching in amazement how fast you got it all back together,

Thanks. Transgel Gold (No longer available) and Dr. Tranny Green. Just normal maintenance. Depending on how much you drive, I do mine once a year. I do all my maintenance when the tags are due, except motor oil, that is every 3-4,000 miles. That makes it easy to keep up with. Especially if you have multiple vehicles to keep up with. I got this video and one on a 67' Mustang. But that one is before I moved the camera closer. These are pretty easy. Hardest part is stuffing it in the case the way I do. You don't have to do it that way, but I have never broken another sealing ring after doing it that way.

looks like you did not soak the clutch disk before install, or measure the clearance.

No. I don't soak my clutches. Never seen a difference doing it and not. I have done enough of these I can tell when the clearances are correct. If they are off, I will break out the gauge and check them.

My kit and valve body have gaskets, I am trying to figure out why they were not used?

I have never used gaskets on Toyota's, C4 and C6. They work just fine without them. Especially Toyota's. You use the wrong one or the holes don't quite line up and you will have problems. If you feel the need, put them on.

Hi great video, I have slight issue in that I have stripped my c4 from a 67 mustang and have a plastic ball appeared on the bench and I'm not sure where it cam from as I was not expecting it, I think its ether from the oil pump or governor as these were the only parts in the area on the bench, I have not stripped the valve body yet. Do you have any idea where its from?

Shouldn't be any except in the valve body. There are some that block passages in the stator. I have never seen them fall out but they may have. Post a picture on my Instagram and I will look at it. Both of the ball and the stator.

I'm an engine builder, but didn't want my customer this time to get over charged for a transmission rebuild. I really liked your video and comments. Because I have no way of knowing how the trans will work, i plan to put it in my truck. One question. How to get a better shift from 2nd to 3rd ? All c4's seem to have this problem. Thanks again.

Am I doing it wrong? I soak my clutches in transfluid for a couple days before assembly.

Nope. I get this comment all the time. You can soak them as long as you want. 30 minutes is probably sufficient. Or you can not do it at all. I have never seen a difference doing it or not. I know quite a few builders and none of them do it either. There are a few instances where I would but as a general rule I don't.

Nope. I used to as well. I find that it is easy to break a sealing ring on the stator when assembling the pump into the case. Since I have been doing it this way I have yet to break a ring. It is a bit of a pain dioing it this way but I would rather not break a ring.

I have a c-4 in my car now, thinking about putting in a aod, where is your shop located, I would definitely want someone with your experience to build whichever one I decide to run this season.

Yes, short splines spline into the planet. Long splines in the torque converter.

I can't get mine to stop leaking...I recently rebuilt it and torqued it to specs, but it won't stop leaking. It leaks from every where. Any suggestions, thanks. I even bought expensive gaskets. I just bought some yellow 3m to see if that works. Tail shaft housing, pan, front pump, and seals are all leaking. I am wondering if the rebuild kit that I purchased was a cheap one. Heck, I just spent 25 for a pan gasket and it is still leaking. I straightened the pan out. TCI pan. And I have tried two other OEM pans as well and it still leaks...I did have a heck if a time getting the front pump out. It was stuck pretty good. As well has the tail shift housing. I wonder what the factory uses for sealants...
