Ford Dealer STUNS Truck Buyers, Toyota Can't Do This!

Ford Dealerships have so much Ford F150 and F250 Super Duty inventory yet truck prices remain crazy high. The same can't be said about Toyota. They are still struggling to keep Tundras, Tacomas and 4 runners. The truck market collapse is warming up and it seems like dealers still have a huge grip on the high prices, limited discounts and random markups over MSRP. After weeks of making videos about Ford dealers and their crazy trucks prices, I think I finally found a dealerships that blows them all away. You'll never see prices like this at a Toyota dealer.

In Canada we’ve been used to $50,000 pickups for a long time. My ‘09 F150 FX4 cost me $55K all in back then. What is insane now is new 1/2 ton trucks here are anywhere up to the $100k range which means a choice of either financing in mortgage like lengths or payments in the $1500 a month range. A truck will never be worth that kind of money to me.
@jmmywyf4lyf

@@squangan they began turning trucks in the more luxury vehicles, and younger Generations are glorifying them for different reasons. Here in America we have had some models that are over 50,000. I spent Ali refuse to buy it. I will never pay that much money for a pickup truck. I recently looked at a 2013 Dodge Ram 1500, and they were asking almost 25,000 with it at 90,000 miles. After everything was said and done it comes out to nearly $30,000 for a 10 year old truck with nearly 100,000 miles on it. That is insane
@squangan

@@jmmywyf4lyf Here is the definition of insane. A local dealer here is advertising a 2018 Dodge 3500 diesel dually with 250,000 km (150,000 miles) on it. The truck has severe body damage as it looks like a big tree may have fallen across the cab and box.. It is being advertised at $56,000 plus taxes and fees and the body damage is the buyers responsibility to repair. It is completely beyond belief that a dealer can even consider that kind of money for a 5 year old half ruined truck.

@johnheath8882
@johnheath8882 Год назад
It's been exposed! It's every company's new business model...to drive fear with low inventories, gouge as long as possible and prevent prices from falling. Overpricing might make people walk away but just long enough to overpay somewhere else. Consumers keep justifying themselves to spend money in this market. The sooner they stop spending, the sooner we'll go back to competitive pricing. This isn't possible so normal pre-covid pricing wont return. There are too many people willing to pay more than you to remedy their first world problems. Even a 10% off MSRP ad will get suckers to buy bc they believe it's a discount and have FOMO. Aside from that consumer problem, CEOs will also be inventing new ways to keep the market propped up, even raise prices, as long as they can, until you don't have a choice.

In my crazy state, a 30-year-old house withOUT a garage, a cracked driveway, a backyard that offers ZERO privacy for even a dog, a popcorn ceiling from the 1970s, ancient slider bar thermostat and total of UNDER 950 sq ft of living space is a whopping $145-185,000. I cannot afford a house at those prices. I know I will already have to spend way over $10K in repairs to make it comfortable. Remember, you get NO garage either. The cheapest one with any garage is a wallet-bursting $181,000! In Texas, it can hit 110 in August and that's very hard on your car's paint. It will eventually peel off if the brand doesn't have very high quality paint. Oh, and it does expose your car to theft and burglary. I have only one car and cannot afford to lose it.

When I was stationed in Japan we went to the Philippines for training and the same new 2001 Expedition that was being sold on Kadena Air Base for $45,000 was being sold in the Philippines for $27,000. When I got back I asked the salesman at the USO why there was such a price difference and she replied, “ the economy” in the Philippines made less income.

I just commented on this issue on another channel. Rather than cut and past it, I'll just sum it up by saying my effort to buy a Ford Maverick last January was derailed when Stevens Ford in Suffolk County NY, not only refused to allow me to test drive the Maverick that I ACTUALLY WENT there to purchase (I even made an appointment) they also boldly declared that they are "going to have to ask at least $5000 over sticker price" because the truck is so popular. So I promptly drove up the block to Nessenger Chevrolet and bought a Colorado for 2k under sticker price that same day. And no, I didn't get any money to say this. I just think a good dealer should be recognized and a shady dealer should be shamed.

Your dealer crawls are always interesting - have you considered overlapping that with industry sales data? There is a huge swing in MSRP going from anything mid size to anything full size. Part of the huge bump in MSRP is the manufacturers getting in on the market adjustments the dealers were doing - and many dealers didn't let the boost in MSRP slow down the dealer appetite for addendum stickers. The market place has been damaged by a weird situation that artificially restricted vehicle availability. Even though the reasons for limited inventory are being worked out, many manufacturers and dealers decided that they liked the business model of large profit on small production numbers. My guess is that when the music fully stops, that many of today's leaders will become tomorrow's losers. I think it will get real ugly and include some seismic industry shifts and possible exits.

If you got the money you should be able to dictate terms. I'm ruthless with dealers. My goal is to get the car for free, and I base success on how close I can come to that. I never go in with the attitude of "giving the dealer a fair profit". Screw that. The last time I bought my wife a new car I told him what I was willing to pay. He laughed at me. He said, "We have more in this car than that amount." I immediately asked him if he was going to value my trade-in for how much I put in it. No? Then why should I give a CRAP about how much you have in this car? It was a used Toyota Highlander with low miles. They wanted $22K. I told them I would pay $15K and that's after tax, tags, dealer prep and all that. He just kept laughing at me. Eventually he made the fatal mistake of saying, "There's no way my floor manager would EVER agree to that price." I told him, "You already got my contact info. If you can talk him down to $15K give me a call." And then I left the confused Pikachu face goofball there. I got home and my wife said, "You bought it? Where's my car?" I said, "No I'm still haggling. I think he'll come down." She said, "YOU'RE GOING TO SCREW AROUND LIKE THIS AND SOMEONE ELSE WILL GET MY CAR!" I said, "That exact outburst is why I didn't bring you there. Never let them know you already fell in love with the car. The price just went back up." (three days later) Dealer: "Hi. Um... you still want that care?" Me: "I dunno. I was going to go shopping somewhere else this weekend..." I got it for $15,008 tax tag and everything. I consider that a win. My wife all of a sudden thought I was a complete genius. She was right of course.

Ford was a breeze no mark up for Ford Ranger (I end up with the Tacoma). However--the issue is with on demand cars like the Broncos, Mavericks and I bet it will be the same for the 4g Tacoma too. People just need to learn to wait.

That's in your market. In mine, Toyota was and is adding ADM'S to almost all vehicles. $3-10k on 4runners, Tacoma, Tundra, Camry, and Prius. The dealer is also storing some vehicles off site to give a greater appearance of low inventory. I bought a 2020 4runner ORP in July of 20 during the peak of Covid hysteria for under dealer invoice plus a $1500 rebate. The sticker was $44k and I paid a tick over $39k. They were terrified the world was going to end and they would get stuck with vehicles. Right after that the chip shortage hit and they were calling me for a year offering me more than I paid to buy the 4runner back. Dealers Suck!

A better question then asking "if you think these prices are too high", is to ask people "what have you received for raises since 2020?" You'll probably get an answer like 2%/year since 2020. So, if people are just getting the same old 2% they were getting in the years before to "keep up with inflation" so to say, that tells you exactly what we all think today. If a F150 XL say, was in the upper 20's low 30's in 2018/19 and now it is in the upper 40's/50's today, it is easy to see why hardly anyone is buying these things.

I have an 05 f150 fx4 xlt. The sticker was $38,200; I paid $29,000 for it. I take care of it-change the fluids (oil, radiator, brake, front and rear diffs, etc)regularly and I’ve run 93 octane since the day I got her. She has over 200k miles on her and runs great. But she’s got the tick: cam phasers, vct, and or rocker arms/lifters-she needs a timing job+. But the ford dealer where I live refuses work on trucks over 10 years old. First time I’ve ever heard of a ford dealer not work on a ford truck. They want me to buy one of their $80K trucks, then turn around and sell my truck for $18k-its crazy…I found a local shop to work on it so all is well, but it still feels like ford is giving me the double middle finger!

There are at least two tow and weight capacity ratings in F150s and 250s that no one ever talks about. I don't know the pricing differentials, but it should still be considered when comparing otherwise like models. You don't even necessarily need to look at the door frame spec stickers. A light duty 150 will have 5 bolt wheels while a heavier duty one has 6 bolts. The 250 light duty will have 6 bolt wheels while a heavier duty one has 8 bolts. This text information may be on the window sticker. I don't know. This should be useful to both new and used buyers.
