Glad Ford have gone back to the Torque converter gearbox, after the "dubious" PowerShift!!! Now for other manufacturers to drop DCT's, iMT's, CVT's, etc and return to "bullet proof" torque converter gearboxes.
This model has been around overseas for a while and now before the ecosport is basically discontinued FSA is dumping stock to SA market as something special.
Hi Alan. Do you honestly think they will keep selling them since they are being discontinued in other countries, and South Africa always lags behind by 6months to a year. I have heard they are still made in Europe… I just want a crossover like Ambiente trim with 6 airbags, that won’t break the bank and is reliable… what are your thoughts
Hi Christoff. Thanks for the message. The EcoSport is still built in Europe and that's where ours are now sourced. The crossover market is packed with good contenders. I suggest you shortlist those that offer the spec you want like 6 airbags etc. Then go and test drive all to see which you like best. Don't discount some of the lesser known brands like the Chery Tiggo4 and the Mahindra XUV300 as examples
What happens when they get discontinued? I also heard that about them and that they only going to produce their range that's selling so should we still buy the ford eco sport?
I find it disappointing that even in europe the ecosport titanium range from 2020 came out with disk brakes front and rear and sunroof along with full leather seats and useful features like a reverse camera and a means to change gears on the automatic models mean while we here in SA “get excited” about black plastic trims over wheel arches (that fade anyway) and a badge stuck on the fender with whats probably nothing better than Pritt. This “active” model isn’t worth the cosmetics compared to a 2020 titanium.
