Had mine for 5 years. Only minor issues so far. Needed a rear bulb, suspension bushing made a noise (some rust due to living by the sea) and that's it. Still running perfectly. Countless cars broke down while my Ecosport is running very healthy. Really happy with it. I can't recall this every letting me down. The 1.0 ecoboost engine is just perfect. Not the fastest, but can take you from A to B with ease. Easy driving on highways. I had the Fiesta before this, and this is way better. 10/10. Thanks for giving some shine to this odd but practical purchase
My mom owns a B-Max, 2016 model, with the 1.0 92kw. The engine imploded in less than a year around the 30k kms and Ford almost did not want to replace it. But I dug deep into my inner Karen and they eventually behaved and installed a new engine. She still owns the car and it's been a good runner.
But gents I don't think it's being a Karen remember being a Karen is being unreasonable in this instance the Karen would've sued Ford, called the cops and fell down and said the Ford struck her for no reason whatsoever 🤣🤣🤣
My sister bought a 2019 Titanium in January last year. My mother bought a brand new Kia Sonet around the same time. The Sonet interior is cheap and plastic compared to the EcoSport. And overall the Ecosport is just a much better vehicle. I've driven both numerous times and I rate the EcoSport far better than the Sonet.
97,000 kms on my Ecosport 1L/3 cylinder when the no. 3 cylinder packed up and Ford quoted R162,000.00 to fix. I am a city sleeker and decided to run it for a single road trip when the engine failed halfway through the trip. It is apparently common knowledge by now that the 1L engines are not designed to take the stress (heat) of long distance trips and this is probably the reason why Ecosport models are discontinued.
Wtf are you driving using your brain? Even I drive 3 cylinder 2006 hatchback through mud, mountain and terrain 296 km back and fourth so it is almost 600km and everything is still fxcking fine. As long as you fxcking let your car rest for 100 km per 10 minutes, every can will run forever. 😊
Yankee here. I feel fortunate that I have the SES 2 liter Duramax with AWD and paddle shifters. It's a great little car. Handles 75 mph (120 kph) all day long.
hi Iam Frank from Germay, the motorist heaven of no speed limit on German autobahn. Prior to my Ecosport from 2021 I used to ride a Ford Focus Eco boost 1.0 with 101hp. The engine gave up with more than 200.000 km on the clock. The reason why it does gave up was using oil that has not been endorsed or strongly recommended using by Ford. The timing belt just disintegrated und thus contaminated the oil pump. I usually drove very fast for long periods like 400 km like from Düsseldorf to Berlin. Average speed 160-180 km/h. No problem at all for the engine . Long distance rides from Germany to Spain, Sweden, Italy, lots of steep mountain passes.......It tolerates high working loads pretty well provided it gets maintained when it needs to be maintained! With proper oil I would still be driving it. If you ask who is disappointed with the engine then a lot of disappointed owners will agree with you. But keep in mind, this engine works in millions of cars! So the disappointed owners are just merely a drop in the ocean or a grain of sand in the dessert.
I have a 2018 EcoSport which I bought used , it's an SE model 2.0 4 wheel drive. I had it over a year now an so far I like it, it's rides nice an is nicely equipped, Sun roof, Applecart play with navagation , power windows an power driver seat. So far so good.
😂Am I the only one who think Chiro doesn't actually mean it when he says he would buy this car. With the competition out there I don't see it that way cause one can really get for car for that money else where plus the reliability offered by the Japanese cars. It's quite typical for automotive journalists to be polite when doing their reviews it's mandatory so that manufactures can keep on sending them more cars to review.
If a motoring journalist speaks the truth about cars, he'll be unemployed soon. I don't regard their opinions very seriously, it's all about advertising. If you want to know the truth about cars and their reliability speak to a mechanic.
@@lovingCarz Thanks bro! Yep, unfortunately the car manufacturers have the motoring journalists in their pockets, and you could make a costly mistake buying a car based on their opinions. Just imagine the horror of buying any German or American car, and then sitting with an endless and worthless money pit piece of crap. Your best bet is Toyota and Lexus, and even they're slowly moving in the direction of building throw away cars.
Ah good old KN 80 TK GP... I had him on 3 wheels on the Killarney skidpan just before you guys took it over for a longterm test 😂 I have pictures. Thought it looked familiar.
Thank you for a very informative and easy watching review. I'm about to buy the Active '22 and this video has convinced me I'm making the right choice. Yes....the boot door is not that practical but for oddballs like me it's perfect.❤
The Ambiente has the Manual transmission yes but note the Ambiente does not come with a 1.0 Ecoboost 3Cyl, only a fuel thirsty 1.5 TiVCT 3 Cyl, 5 speed manual or 6 speed auto and the 1.5 TDCi, (Manual only) The Trend, Titanium, Active only comes with only a 1.0 Ecoboost 3Cyl, the Trend and Titanium comes with a 6-speed manual or 6 speed auto, With the Active only with an Auto
I was in a titanium ecosport this past weekend and man that auto gearbox on take off is annoying! Car drives nice after the 1st gear shudder. And and we found the driver side door handle had been broken at the mall parking lot.😅
Enlighten me, how does a car prove itself? Is it by being on sale for 10 years with facelifts every 3 years or is it by having 10 year old models still running around on our roads with little to no issues? Personally I don’t see alot of 10 year old Ecosports, or any Ford Vehicles for that matter which are 10 years or older🤷🏾♂️ But maybe thats just me.
Car reviews aren't entirely honest. For instance, you have car reviewers that would tell you the Suzuki Swift is a competitor to the VW Polo but when you drive both cars you realise it's chalk and cheese.
@@hlangothindlela7517 -100% agree. I guess at the end of the day it’s fair to acknowledge that car reviews are quite subjective. That said, they still make for great entertainment and buying guidance.
I was the first in Jeffrey's Bay to buy a Ecosport in 2013 had it for 3 years I had no problem with it handle well then I bought a Facelift I was really disappointed the Alarm kept going off and my back light bulb kept on blowing then I bought a 2021 Diesel and I had the same problem😢 So now I have a Havel Jolion Hybrid and Im happy bigger space and better fuel consumption I get 6.8 on a 100. My Fuel Eco gave me 9.8 my Diesel Eco gave me 5.5 but maintenance was really high
I dont think the door opening upwards would have worked well together with a tailgate-mounted sparewheel. Although not my favourite (mainly due to somewhat boring looks, Ford's notorious fuel consumption figures) it has proven to be a good & reliable car. Three colleagues of mine have had theirs for over 6 years now & have never ever heard them complain about its reliability.
I guess there are lemons out there. My 2020 se Ecosport is cool. No problems, besides a new battery, new batteries for the key faub. I'm has almost 40,000 km on it. Super in snow! In Canada used up north quite a bit. Those are tough conditions. U get ur lemons and ur good ones!!
I always thought these were substandard being from India but with all the new cars coming from India being what they are this is actually looking good in comparision.
The benefit of the swing door is that allows the spare wheel to be attached. Imagine a normal suv rear boot door with a spare wheel attached. You wouldn’t be able to lift it…
I have had constant gearbox issues. My gearbox has been replaced twice. Fords support has been horrific. As a result, i dont think i will trust ford anytime soon again. 😢
Not the best car in the world, but very competitive in a highly competitive segment. The only thing I don't like is the lack of a storage bin/arm rest in the center console. Maybe I'm just to lazy to lift my own arms.
The rear door should be more practical in limited space, at least you can open it halfway in limited space. A flip up door opening halfway...not so easy to get in.
It's pronounced "echo"-sport. Ford offers an Eco-boost engine, maybe that is the source of confusion? Anyway, my wife and I own his and hers Ecosport vehicles. Wonder cars that do well in snow and sip the gas. To find an EV version of this vehicle, you would have to spend 2 to 3 times as much money. Once electrics come down in price, we may consider it. Until then, still waiting and enjoying our little suv's.
im looking at these now and cant decide as i had a cx3 and it was fantastic just silent but had a dpf fault so it went back, not sure if i should get ecosport, Captur or a focus. I would get a cx3 2.0L but i assume being a 2.0L it will drink petrol and cost more to insure ?? too much choice on the market,
Fords with poor resale value in general will be a good buy as 2nd hand, but that baby engine with turbo will need a turbo replacement which can be pricey. Otherwise functional, but Toyota urban cruiser & Suzuki breeza will be better option in the long-run
@@AshtonMatadin My 2001 Nissan Sentra 1,4 Si gets 7/100, and still runs perfectly after 22 years. I very much doubt today's (23/24 year model) cars will even last that long with all the plastic crap in the engine bay. The pinnacle of car production was late 90's to around 2010. Thereafter they've become throw away pieces of junk.
I've had my 2016 exo sport for about 5 years. Besides a bulb I had to replace the only other issue I have is the boot lock started going, I can probably open my boot once week at the moment ( anyone know where I can have it looked at I'm in cape town)
I answered and said, "If I have found favor in thy sight, O Lord, show this also to thy servant: whether after death, as soon as every one of us yields up his soul, we shall be kept in rest until those times come when thou wilt renew the creation, or whether we shall be tormented at once?" 76 He answered me and said, "I will show you that also, but do not be associated with those who have shown scorn, nor number yourself among those who are tormented. 77 For you have a treasure of works laid up with the Most High; but it will not be shown to you until the last times. 78 Now, concerning death, the teaching is: When the decisive decree has gone forth from the Most High that a man shall die, as the spirit leaves the body to return again to him who gave it, first of all it adores the glory of the Most High. 79 And if it is one of those who have shown scorn and have not kept the way of the Most High, and who have despised his law, and who have hated those who fear the Most High -- 80 such spirits shall not enter into habitations, but shall immediately wander about in torments, ever grieving and sad, in seven ways. 81 The first way, because they have scorned the law of the Most High. 82 The second way, because they cannot now make a good repentance that they may live. 83 The third way, they shall see the reward laid up for those who have trusted the covenants of the Most High. 84 The fourth way, they shall consider the torment laid up for themselves in the last days. 85 The fifth way, they shall see how the habitations of the others are guarded by angels in profound quiet. 86 The sixth way, they shall see how some of them will pass over into torments. 87 The seventh way, which is worse than all the ways that have been mentioned, because they shall utterly waste away in confusion and be consumed with shame, and shall wither with fear at seeing the glory of the Most High before whom they sinned while they were alive, and before whom they are to be judged in the last times. 88 "Now this is the order of those who have kept the ways of the Most High, when they shall be separated from their mortal body. 89 During the time that they lived in it, they laboriously served the Most High, and withstood danger every hour, that they might keep the law of the Lawgiver perfectly. 90 Therefore this is the teaching concerning them: 91 First of all, they shall see with great joy the glory of him who receives them, for they shall have rest in seven orders. 92 The first order, because they have striven with great effort to overcome the evil thought which was formed with them, that it might not lead them astray from life into death. 93 The second order, because they see the perplexity in which the souls of the unrighteous wander, and the punishment that awaits them. 94 The third order, they see the witness which he who formed them bears concerning them, that while they were alive they kept the law which was given them in trust. 95 The fourth order, they understand the rest which they now enjoy, being gathered into their chambers and guarded by angels in profound quiet, and the glory which awaits them in the last days. 96 The fifth order, they rejoice that they have now escaped what is corruptible, and shall inherit what is to come; and besides they see the straits and toil from which they have been delivered, and the spacious liberty which they are to receive and enjoy in immortality. 97 The sixth order, when it is shown to them how their face is to shine like the sun, and how they are to be made like the light of the stars, being incorruptible from then on. 98 The seventh order, which is greater than all that have been mentioned, because they shall rejoice with boldness, and shall be confident without confusion, and shall be glad without fear, for they hasten to behold the face of him whom they served in life and from whom they are to receive their reward when glorified. 99 This is the order of the souls of the righteous, as henceforth is announced; and the aforesaid are the ways of torment which those who would not give heed shall suffer hereafter." 100 I answered and said, "Will time therefore be given to the souls, after they have been separated from the bodies, to see what you have described to me?" 101 He said to me, "They shall have freedom for seven days, so that during these seven days they may see the things of which you have been told, and afterwards they shall be gathered in their habitations." 102 I answered and said, "If I have found favor in thy sight, show further to me, thy servant, whether on the day of judgment the righteous will be able to intercede for the unrighteous or to entreat the Most High for them, 103 fathers for sons or sons for parents, brothers for brothers, relatives for their kinsmen, or friends for those who are most dear." 104 He answered me and said, "Since you have found favor in my sight, I will show you this also. The day of judgment is decisive and displays to all the seal of truth. Just as now a father does not send his son, or a son his father, or a master his servant, or a friend his dearest friend, to be ill or sleep or eat or be healed in his stead, 105 so no one shall ever pray for another on that day, neither shall any one lay a burden on another; for then every one shall bear his own righteousness and unrighteousness." .....2 Esdras 7:75 ///////////////

The Ecosport is a good used buy, not new, they are out of production, unless you get some serious discounts. The Brezza was cheaper to purchase and run but yes it doesnt get leather seats but you do get rear cupholders and a centre armrest. Finally for todays market, you cant get a Brezza, you can get a Grand Vitara(waiting on the review😊)which is in a completely different class(sadly roughly the same boot space, boo Suzuki). Your best bet is a used Vitara, slightly bigger, more versatile you can get the Turbo which is a great engine or the NA engine which is also good and reliable. Finally the trunk is how it is because i guess they wanted to include better usage of the space. I have a older Rav4 that has that and the underfloor storage is cavernous. Yes its a pain at times but that thing is Tardis like in the boot.
Oh dear. That huge spare tyre on the rear (many seem to be stolen) and the crazy high price. No thanks. I'll stick with my R160 000 Haval H1 (no longer made - but mine is already 100 000km with zero issues). Bluetooth, cruise control, electric mirrors, electric windows all round, reverse radar, etc. etc. etc.
