Replaced the sensor. Cleared the code with Snapon scanner. Gauge still climbs the 1299 code. Never overheats. Scanner says 161 degrees. Goes into limp mode. If put sensor to air same thing, shows overheating and goes into limp mode. Car never gets hot of boils over. Disconnect wires to sensor and gauge does not work so cannot be cut wire. If not the sensor the what could cause the same problem as in your video? Bad PCM?

There's a keeper key or pin that was in mine , keeps the temp sensor from backing out. I didn't see this part having that or you didn't show it being removed ? Thanks

That’s the coolant temperature sensor not the cylinder head temperature sensor.

Man how do mechanics mess this up...?? I really don't get it. I knew very little about auto mechanic and from simply investigating , I learned that they are two different sensors. Because of videos like this, I changed the coolant temperature sensor as opposed to the cylinder head temperature sensor...

You are so ungrateful. Be glad he's filming and showing us. And we can understand him just fine. If you're not smart enough to understand someone who speaks with a different accent than yours then it's on you.

Finding and getting the sensor out was one thing, but trying to get the retainer clip pushed back in place to hold. The sensor is an absolute nightmare. Nearly impossible to get it to seat, and every time it slips out of your hand it goes flying off somewhere in the engine compartment because of the spring action.

Hello I have a 2011 giving warm temps changed the thermostat and water pump and belts when idle and revvingthe engine up to 3500rpm temps are normal soon as I hit 50 to 60kms it goes to warm but not hot. is this a sensor issue. when I close the hood it will also make it go down then up.

That is a coolant temperature sensor not cylinder heat temperature sensor. Where is the cylinder sensor?

Cylinder Head Temperature sensor is right below Coolant Temperature Sensor.

@@azautofix1705 not true! Cylinder Head Temperature Sensor is below Coolant Temperature Sensor! The Cylinder Head Temperature Sensor screws in, the Coolant Temperature Sensor is Push-In.

Right below that in the head. Not easy to get to but if you take your time and remove some hoses it’s not bad.

Hi I have been replaced but the car has a same issue, what do u recommend?
@bbmats
@bbmats 11 месяцев назад
Hi. On my 2013 1.6 kuga, the issue was the coolant level sensor that was faulty. It's connected to the water bottle. Before having it replaced since it's an expensive device, ensure you have enough coolant in the reservoir.

Like I said I changed out the cylinder head temperature sensor and coolant temperature sensor and thermostat assembly and water pump and it's still not working

If the recall was done, check the bottle. Idk the name or part number off hand but it was adding to these vehicles do to a recall. It's mounted by the reservoir. If it's not the bottle it's a blown headhasket 9 out of 10 times. People are saying, water pump thermostat, radiator etc it's not over heating by coolant. It's the heads over heating itself. Once in limp mode you can not go out of it unless the code is erased. As soon as it's heated back up it will go into over head tempature active. Limp mode. Again it cannot be taken out of limp mode until the p1299 is erased. The limp mode pumps the cylinders with air to try to cool it so you don't do further damage but like I said 9 out of 10 times I see this it's a blown head gasket. This is on the 1.5 and 1.6L ecoboost engines

@Eugene Curley you may have to have a ford certified technician hook it up to a computer to reset the code?

find sensor location on your car and just replace it. then done
@brandynettleton1658
@brandynettleton1658 2 года назад
That’s the problem with this particular car, though. Depending on the year model it either doesn’t exist or is in more that one location…hence doing the search of someone else fixing it…so we can find it. My vehicle is throwing a code for it, but it’s not where anyone says it is.
