Not the same any more listen to brewer talking shit the second wing is just Garbage tit and the original wing does not create full down force till the car is running over 400 horse
Ford USA have made some great race cars over the years, the Mustang being an obvious one. But Ford UK and Ford Germany have made some fantastic cars too. The Escorts out of Ford’s rally shop and the Ford Capris from Germany were amazing in their time plus of course the gorgeous RS200. Long live the blue oval
That's precisely what they did show though! Ant took apart the turbo and fixed it. he took apart the engine and gearbox and fixed that too. Ant's seems like a decent bloke and is very knowledgeable and watchable don't just dismiss him out of hand just because he's not Ed.
Lovely car but these shows are getting farcical, I can see why Edd left. The new boy spends most of the time posing for the camera. The 2nd hand car salesman is clear eating himself into an early grave and sweating like crazy. This is another lazily produced episode, they found an owner who's willing to let their car be used for filming. The only requirement is that they pretend to sell and then buy it back. Shame this used to be a very good show.
Except they actually bought and sold the s2000, it was never lent for filming. There is a build thread for the car somewhere I seem to remember and the owner said he bought it off the guy who sold it to wheeler dealers and much much more was done than on camera.
@Paul Sykes No he's spot on, any fast ford with cosworth in the name are very desirable and can fetch huge amounts of money, up to millions of dollars for old race cars, and even production cars like the rs 200. Cosworth are motorsports legends, cosworth built and designed engines backed by Ford have won every single championship in the game, from over 176 f1 races and many f1 titles, to indy car championships, and indy 500 titles, to nascar championships for ford and Chevrolet, they have won more or less every motorsports championship you can think off. The Sierra Rs 500 race car is still the most successful race car in the whole of Motorsports, which dominated the world touring car championship world wide in every country and Rallies, the Aussies were getting 180mph out of their 2 litre rs 500 cosworths in their touring car series, that,s ridiculously fast for a 2 litre Saloon car from the mid 80's, the Sierra Rs 500 Cosworth road going production car can fetch up to 90 to 150k alone, and race spec version are worth ridiculous money
@@subconscious.com_usa6691 You've right about some of this, but £70K is just absurd, especially for a late-spec, small-turbo half-assed attempt like this one. Try half that and you'd be Lucky, especially with those wheels, ridiculous xr4i-hybrid-sandwich rear spoiler, and missing 2/3 of the front spoiler even! And that's just the bits you can plainly see are ruined...
@@henkverzeijl1525 It is absurd for normal 2.l turbo rally road car, you could get a Ferrari or Porsche for that money, but the market for these cars has been driven up by people where money is no object,, and that dictates the value, there also rare about 500 to 1000 models were made in total, plus its the last car cosworth made with ford. In europe you could most probably buy a similar car in the same condition for 50k euro's, but seeing though there might only be 20 to 50 of them that are actually in the states, it drives the price up a lot more for the american market. At the moment there's actually only one for sale in europe that i can find, and its going for £55k thats 65.630 euro's and $70k www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C1153020
@@subconscious.com_usa6691 I call bullshit... Here's 25 of them already, all between 18K and 48K euro's... www.autoscout24.nl/lst/ford/escort/ve_cosworth
Ed was the show as for brewer was just fumes from Ed's exhaust pipe lol loved ed China in wheeler dealers but flathead brewer was diesel fumes cough cough 😥😥😥
So you miss a guy that always was complaining and had a lazy attitude when he had to fix the cars lol, edd always was crying before fixing anything lol.
I would say Ants doing a pretty good job making it his part now it's just people are so used to Edd China but overtime people will be saying he's (Ants) doing just a good of a job it just takes time for something different
Are you out of your minds to blast music right when he starts that Cosworth engine, and keep blasting all the while he's driving? Do you understand your audience even, that we are watching this to hear the engine??? GET FIRED.
Some of the comments appear to be from people who sound like they haven't watched the episode. Mike explains that customised cars are popular in the market they're selling (the U.S). Its unlikely there are any ruined MkV Escorts over in the states with rust, bits missing or needing what we might consider the ''normal'' WD type repairs, so with this example they've obviously thought of an entertaining way to 'transform' the car and the net result ties in with the custom/US market angle and it was also fascinating to meet the designer and learn about the 3rd wing, which if you watch the episode actually increased downforce. I think as an opener it was a great showcase for Ant and his skills and for the U.K audience it was a great episode with a familiar popular car! I thought Ant was better on camera than Edd, I love Edd but didn't feel like they've scrapped all the hands on bits? The owner buying back bit was maybe a bit made up who knows, thats only a very small part of the show right at the end anyway.
Why?! The original designer of the car designed it with the 3rd wing and FORD's finance officers cut it out to save money in production. The car was always meant to have it.
It's not only boys who dream about the RS Cosworth. there are a few of us girls who want an Escort Cosworth RS in our garage. The bi-plane spoiler makes it extra cool.
The 3rd spoiler was a spoiler 🤢 Wheel's a Turbo rebuild and oil leak fix......$20'000? Mike was never the Charm of Wheeler dealer's The only thing getting Down force is the look with that Abortion of an optional extra.
My favourite car of all time the escort RS cosworth to pick up a really clean original spec fully serviced escort cossie is about £25-30k now and the mark 1 escort RS turbo still costs up to £10k if in mint condition and fully original and fully serviced my two favourite fords of all the time i do like the Sierra RS 500 cosworth aswell big bucks for one of them aswell i had an F Reg Renault 5 GT Turbo in metallic grey when i was 21 it was stunning very rapid i part exchanged it for a vaxuhall K Reg Cavalier Sri 2.0L16v in green but it was stolen and burnt out so i give up on my sporty cars my mrs has a fiesta ST in blue i have a transit connect for work lol
Very Beautiful car, me n my baby bro loved this show, so entertaining, haha I have an uncle just like Mike, he can sell ice to an eskimo 🤣🤣🤣 True wheeler Dealers👍
The tool that installed that 3rd wing would think nothing of installing some goodmans on the parcel shelf, hopefully the owner converts it back, Jeremy Clarkson was quoted £19000 to insure one in the 90's.
I like it when they walk into another garage and supposedly meet for the first time. Didn't they wonder what the film crew was doing in there. Lol. Show needs a revamp. Who agrees?
Total set up! seen it all b4 on wheeler dealers, rebuy your car for an over inflated price, wtf. 3 wings get a grip ! Ed must be pissing himself after seeing this .
this is actually was a really great show I remember when mike and ed first came out and aired on speed ch in 2006 if you don't like it make your own TV show simple stop hating
Absolute legend of a Ford. I would leave the proper alloys on it though as these cars of an age need to look standard. I remember when a minter was £18k but I bought my first house instead 😞 Regret.
Personally I think a lot of you are wrong,I thought the 3rd spoiler looks ace. One off and given the fact it was the original design then it can only make it worth more money the longer time goes on. I love Edd but you have to give the new lad credit. It's big shoes to fill so it's never going to be easy.
The double whale is terrible but the man who was the origional designer is now the lead designer for McLaren. At the time he opted for the double wing as it creates great down force but I ford opted out and went for the nicer looking wing
I found episode interesting. Car looked great ant looks like it will work. ant explained turbo great detail but he said i will give engine thorough overhaul but we didnt get to see this. I understand that ant is under guidelines on workshop airtime but it does ruin show as i interested in mechanical side
I have now read over ten comments in which were false information, so I have to make something clear. I know this car very well (I own two of them) and can give you much more correct informations. I make it short. This car was engineered in England, from Ford Motorsport and Fords own former department SVE (Special Vehicle Engineering) which made the rally cars among other things at that time. The body was build from Karmann in Rheine, Germany near Osnabrück in a small factory building, and it was totaly handbuilt. Now to the spoiler. The two spoiler setup was tuned in over 200 hours of detailed work in the windtunnel at Fords factory in cologne, germany. The decisive factor is the distance between the two spoilers. If you put the third in the middle (in this setup) its unhelpful. In this setting it hat 45 newton downforce at the front (with the original two spoilers and two splitters on the front bumber), and 190 newton at the back at 180 km/h. So this was the first production car with downforce on the front and the back at high speed. And it has nothing to do with the design of the car. It was only for racing. When they did two wings cause of cost reasons, why has the group a rally car, which cost around 150.000 Euros at that time, exactly the same wings? Questions?
Over here in Britain originality is very important so wasting time and money bolting aftermarket wheels and spoiler to a classic would de-value car and irritate most potential buyers. Mid spoiler is unique but so is a tap dancing mongoose & Just as useful. I guess This episode will stop most Brits from watching any more new episodes. I owned one of these cars for a few months back in 1998 & in my opinion it did not need more down force plus mid spoiler would restrict rear visibility. I,ll stick to watching old episodes featuring Edd China.
Back in 2001 i bought an H Reg cavalier Sri 2.0L 8v in white fully original and i bought it off an elderly couple in Shropshire it was always kept in their garage and never drove over 60mph it was like new very low mileage thats all i did to it was put matching white skirts/wing mirrors/ door handles and 17inch 5 spoke alloy wheels on it i loved that car it was very fast i sold it 2 years later to a mechanic who only wanted the engine to put in a Nova GTE
My dream car I was lucky to drive one when I was younger,my bosses car from new looked amazing in the purpley blue.then he had it tuned by sue Colin’s engineering again amazing 350 bhp like a missile loved the car miss it would love to own,you never know maybe one day thanks again great to watch 👍👍👍👍👍👍👌😍
Mike doesn't know what he's talking about, the "whale tail" tail was not necessary, thats why it was optional! Also in some markets the Cosworth could not be sold with it fitted so they only got the small lip spoiler in some countries. Adding that aftermarket spoiler was pointless...just adds more drag and ruins rear visibility!
I didn't say it didn't produce any downforce, just that it was not "necessary"...contrary to what motormouth Mike said. Hence why it was optional equipment as part of the "aero pack". Any rear downforce the car "needed" came from the lip on the bootlid. Whatever the wing gave was supplementary. The front bib on the other hand, yes that was strictly functional and hence factory fitted to all models.
So i saw this episode last night, what a set up, they never bought and reselled that cosworth. it was all staged. they wanted to get there hands on a cosworth, bud couldn't find one for sale. so they came up with some tv BS . a friend of mine ones a car exactly like that, they could have talked about how to recalibrate the engine by a simple trick . and how the original spark coil isn't strong enough and lot's of more stuff. and when they driving that car , they really really really really overacting, like the car gives them orgasms or something. be truthfull to your tv program guys, people see the BS when you make it BS.
he said you can repair the turbo your self but then he had to get the turbo balanced by somebody. so its not a diy job and that rear wing how could they do that to a cosworth
Imagine agreeing to pretend to pay $20k for someone to completely ruin your car. That third wing and the wheels are disgusting, the car was aesthetically perfect when he "sold" it.
That is incredibly naive or incredibly stupid thinking. I can only assume that you clicked on this video by mistake or out of boredom, because you clearly know nothing about cars. Do you even own a car, or have a licence?
I don't know a lot about fixing car I know how they feel if you sell them you try not to rip people and you make sure they are safe mot service bills to show what has been done to get it safe
Phantomx0_1 no it wasnt . the whaletail yes . but that shit they put in the middle no. A designer said that his original drawings and design had the mid wing but he said for costs it was dropped . fords polite way of saying. "That looks shit"
right ive just seen something werid...the car is stood still, engine not running at 1.30mins.it shows the dashboard and its says it's doing 10mph......HOW....somethings not right Mike...
It isn't showing 10mph, the needle is resting on the stop and the speedo numbers start at 10mph as anything less is rather pointless to show the driver.
never seen a escort rs until i watched this show and believe me how shocked i was to have one show up the next day at my work "a ford dealer" and nobody i worked with had any idea of it's value long story short the guy driving it came in to buy a mustang and was not trading it in. before he left i asked him what he wanted for his 95 rs and he said $40k so i took a few pictures of it and posted it on craigslist and within a day i had a guy from the west coast calling me. quickest and easiest flip putting $$$ in my pocket for posting someone else's car thanks wheeler dealer's...
I would love on off these,i will add it to my virtual collection.I can completely understand why he bought it back, after he sold it he must have been gutted.Love has no price.
Nice car, and Ant is probably a good mechanic, BUT.... WD will never ever be the same without Edd China. How about Discovery Channel contacted Edd China and made a hole new concept with "The real dealers".? Cheers from Denmark.
Watched it on discovery, you never bought the car then sold it for a profit, the original owner paid you to fix it for him as no one else would touch it is all i got from the episode
