Thank you sir, I am 63 years old and by no means handy with wrenches. However, I bought an old 2001 Ford F-150 with a bad heater core. Didn't need to spend the money it would cost to have it fixed. Followed your instructions and to my own amazement, I accuatually did it and only had one bolt left over I don't know where it goes. I think I can get by without it! LOL. Thank you so much, your insructions were so easy to follow. God bless!
I would like to thank thank you for this video! My son and I changed out my 2002 f150 today. Took about 8 hours but I took my time and watched video to verify when I needed it!!! It’s people like you that help people like me save money where we can. THANK YOU SIR
Thanks for the video! I'm in the middle of my 98 right now. Also got the Dorman upgraded blendoor and new Motorcraft blendoor motor. I WILL NOT be doing this again anytime soon! Thanks again!
@@brosolution bro same over here i have a 1998 Idk about trucks. And I was kinda worry .I didn't want to fxcked things but I successfully did it by my self 😌 feel proud. Thank you man thank u 🙏
I am so confused I just replaced mine on a 2000 F150 and didn't remove 80% of the things this video shows. I accessed everything by removing the glove box, didn't remove air bag, trim, dash, wiring harness, steering column , none of it. Took about 2 hours with hand tools I did cut the hard tubes to eliminate trying to get the clips off of the hoses at the firewall, (great tip) but don't understand all of the extra steps.
Thanks a lot for the video and all your help. I took my time, it’s an extra truck I have 02’ Supercrew. Followed all your instructions and overall went well. I broke 1 hose end, I had to replace it. Other than that all went well. Thanks again!
The video was perfect, you showed every bolt and nut that we needed to get at that heater core. Great job explaining everything clearly, we really appreciated it. Just sent you a thank you donation on PP. Muchas Gracias!
@@brosolution hey question for you. I replaced the heater core and got the truck back together and went to start it and now it won’t turn over. Cranks but doesn’t fire up. Is there a connector or something that I might have missed putting it all back together?????
@@bluegill2030 check all the conectors on the passenger side under the glove box make sure the wire for the ground is bolted do the same thing on the drive side there is a ground too .in the back of the dash there's nothing the will affect the spark or the fuel I would just doble check all the connector you unplugged
Today it looks so easy, but a week ago, I spend 4 hours to remove the panel in my 97's Navigator, after travelling 500 km. without heater with -22 C outside.
@@brosolution my 2002 ford f150 has smoke and a nasty smell coming from the vents on or off. Still heat and cold comes out but my windshield still gets foggy. Is it 💯 my heater core? Or could it be something else. Thanks for the info and video
I would check all the main connectors and make sure the cable the goes to the transmission is in the position of Park because if is off a little it may think you in reverse and it will never start
What a pain in the ass I had a 1985 Ford F-150 with a 300 inline 6 and the heater core was just underneath glove compartment behind an access panel with two screws on it on take that access panel off and heater core came right out unhook the hoses put the new one in attached to the hoses put the excess panel back on and you're done took me about a half hour vehicles changed a lot from 85 to 97 I couldn't imagine where the heater core is on a 2022
Question for you….. Would it be ok if I hook the heater core hoses up WITHOUT the “quick disconnects” hoses and just put the hoses directly to the core with screw clamps??? I lost a o-ring or do I need to order a new o-ring kit because without it, it will leak?????
I done before but just temporarily If you put the house like that there's a chance for the hose to come off the pipe with the pressure from the coolant system
Hey morning,i did a comment about 4 weeks ago and was justing starting HC replacement and said i was going to send a little something for the help and unfortunately was put in hospital untill yesterday so starting job today. Is deposit info still correct ? As couple yrs old. Having trouble finding my last comment.
Thanks a few bucks will be comming your way by the weekend,I'm in the middle of the Great Bear Rainforest (Rivers Inlet B.C. Canada) float plane or decent size boat access only! 85 full time residents (small reserve) my son and wife are First Nation Grizzly Bears in yard everyday and even have fiber optic internet go figure. Trying to get the wifes 98 stepside f150 finished by Friday 33inch mudders, gloss black, standard and she is in awesome shape!!! Unfortunately I don't have much time left the dreaded C word so thanks for the help!!! Ken Collins
Hey man I did everything right and the dash still isn’t coming out is there any way I could get on video call or something and tell me what I did wrong
I’m almost ready to just trade my 97 F150 in for a new truck 😐… I put in a radiator, thermostat, new battery, alternator, calipers, rotors, brake pads, etc…🥵
Good question!well It's easier because you don't have the shifter by the steering column but everything else is the same. some times you have to remove the handle for the transmission
Long story short, my 99 F150 XLT went to a bad mechanic that stole parts off of it. He was not supposed to do anything to the HVAC system but he did something to it. At any blower speed there is hardly any air coming out of the vents in the dash or defroster. The floor vents blow good. I took the radio HVAC trim cover off and can see the door that switches between dash vents and defroster move. The door below that one which is operated by the actuator just above the SRS module is one I cannot see to check if it is working. I took the passenger trim by the windshield off to examine the recirculate actuator. It is supposed to switch between outside air and recirculate between ac and max ac but I see no movement of the door. My mechanic says my evaporator is clogged. I doubt this. I did the job in your video during December 2020 and cleaned the evaporator when I changed the heater core and blend door. Do you have any tips or common causes for poor air flow other than clogged evaporator? Also, the vacuum sounds I hear when operating the HVAC controls are less loud than before now. I have no idea what was tampered with or stolen and replaced with a broken part in the HVAC system.
I sorry you had a bad experience with this mecanic...hey but the problem on you ac is a vacuum line there's I small vacuum lim from the engine to inside of the cabin check that one and check behind the ac control make sure the vacuum connection is good
@@brosolution Thanks for the reply. I did not find any problems with the vac lines so I removed the blower motor to try and see the evaporator with a mirror. When I did this I found that the door that switches from fresh air to recirculate has broken and fallen on top of the opening for the blower. I need to unbolt the whole HVAC system housing from the firewall and interior to change the top portion where the recirculate flap is located. Ford does not make this part anymore so I will have to buy a used one. This is bad because the plastic gets old and breaks. I wish Dorman made a door for this like they do for the blend door with the metal pivot point.
@@brosolution 56yrs of age been pulling wrenches since I was 27 and complete front ends, ring gears, rebuild differentials, fuel pumps, complete brake systems ECT and 1heater core 14yrs ago(was a nightmare) so after reviewing about 9-12 video's yours was by far the best in detail(exceptional!!l) of wich actual screws, connectors, grounds ECT were to be removed.THANKS A MILLION!!!! I'll get a PayPal account in next few days and send ya a well deserved sum and wish I could afford more. Thanks Again Kc
Is it possible to post up the motor craft part number for the left and right heater core hose ? I was trying to see the part number but couldn’t get it
Thanks for the video. I have a F150 Lariat 4 door. I followed the steps but the driver side seems to be held up by the wire harness leading into the main bulk head. Have you done any F150 Lariat heater cores? I just can't seem to get the dash to move out as easily as you showed. Thanks!
If you smell coolant in side the cabin it's for sure leaking I would do a pressure test on the coolant system and if you see coolant coming out from the ac drain leaking that your sign
@@brosolution yes it does smell but it’s not all the time. I did get desperate and found a radiator, heater core sealant and been driving the truck around all day and no issues yet. Did I mess up doing that?
Not at all this will stop the leak for some time but the problem still there do you need the heater work in your area? Or can you live without it?.im asking because you can by pass the heater core easy and cheap but you won't have any heat
@@brosolution yes i do need it. Thanks for the info, my 02 f150 has other issues so ill work on it little by little. I think the head gaskets are getting messed up already too. One more question? Before i did the sealant i did notice coolant coming out of the muffler was that the heater core leak? Or my gaskets damaged?
If I do it Just labor is 800dlls + parts like coolant, heater core and we have to evacuate the ac system remove the freeon..but every shop has different labor prices
This jod it take 9 to 11 hrs of labor I charge 100 bucks an hour but ever shop has different prices that's just labor plus coolant and any other part you may need the heater core i always recommend getting from the dealer but is up to you
@@brosolution I would trade the truck. Why waste 1k unless its under warranty but its very unlikely for a brand new one to fail. Is Ford the only one that puts it in this location?
If you have option to trade do it..I feel you its alot of money....every car and truck has the exact same system whit the heater core behind the dash is a headache but oh well lol
I have a 1999 Ford F-150 when I bought the truck the hoses on the outside that go to the heater core we’re already clamped off. Like removed from engine. Why would someone do this? I have no heat I’m truck only cold ac would this mean the heater core was likely leaking and they bypassed the hoses?
Great question!!.. yes that exactly what happen when the heater core leaks and you don't wanna fix it or you just don't have the money to do it,that would be the next option by passed the lines so the coolant won't go into the heater core and you won't loose coolant....99% of the time the heater core is bad..I mean you can connect the lines back just to verify if is leaking or not...actually one time I fix a car the came like that with the bypass and I connect the lines back in and there was no leak so you should try first before changing it let me know how it goes men
@@brosolution so I ended up hooking up the lines back to normal and now I have really nice good heat I flushed the lines beforehand but now I have no a/c so I’m guessing the heater blend door might be broken ? Which is way better then replacing a heater core.
Why are my new heater cores only lasting 6-12 months? I have flushed coolant system every time. I read old coolant can eat new cores but if that was so than the radiator would start leaking too, but never does. I flushed just to be safe and have tried different brand cores.I recently put a motorcraft in, we’ll see if it last.
Only for this job I always recommend the dealer for the same reason if the heatercore leaks or is defective they have to pay me for the labor to remove it again it happen to me before but not that many times
Labor only if you get me the coolant and heater core I'll do $600 but I'm in baja tj I need a full day drop it off and go get same fish tacos en beer ahah
They don't make anything easy to get to do they🙄. I have to do this cause my heater coil is pouring out coolant while I'm driving. A pressure test verified that for me. At least it wasn't leaking into the engine.
Sorry to heard that man..I know this jobs is a headache but if where you live you dont need heater that much you can by pass the heatercore is very easy I'm gonna leave the link here you can check the process ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hcoAfrDlvyM.html is the same process on every car or truck
@@brosolution I live in Kentucky so it gets what they call "cold" here lol. Sometimes down to 10°F. I've been living here for 10 years now and it's only got what I consider cold at -11°F once. I did 2 pressure test at the coolant reservoir one at 16psi and it just poured out. And another at 5psi and it was a slow stream leading up to the heater core area. This weekend I'm going to get to the heater core and do another test just to be sure that's exactly where it's coming from before I buy a new one just to find out that wasn't the problem.
@@keithhill8735 oh I see in your case is a must having heatercore...yeah make sure that's your leak usually if smell coolant inside the cabin for sure is the heatercore or if u see coolant coming from the A.C drain hole by the firewall wall..dude if you have to do it keep in mind the is gonna take around 12 hours if this is your first dash it may take little longer..me I like to take everything out in half of day and take break to work on something else so i dont stress out on one jobs because too much pressure makes you forget staff sometimes.and the next day I just concentrate in putting everything back together ...hey text me if you get stuck on something while you take out the dash
So basically.. throw your car away and get a new one if your core goes out. JFC. What a B to get to. My goodness. These manufactures are so dumb. I watched it all the way through, thought it was detailed and great video. But JFC, I'd rather buy a USB Fan heater and a Seat warmer than ever deal with this type of work for an amateur like myself. You:1 hour. Me:at-least 6 hour job. Not hx
