Rockport1911 yea it can handle it, but the question is how does it hold up over time... and the answer is they don’t. My dad used to pull 24-32k lbs with a 2001 2500hd duramax for years until he got a different job, and he traded that truck in with 356k miles.
Jacob Long you’re either full of shit or it’s a load you’ve pulled very few times. Or maybe just have the lightest 40+ ft trailer and smallest machines known to man. Because for your average 38’+ gooseneck weight and average bobcat weights that’s more than double the rated towing capacity of any 350/3500 made in 2000. You’re talking 28k+ pounds minimum for for a long ass deck over gooseneck trailer and two bobcats. You can maintain (maintenance isn’t the same a repair) them all you want but that doesn’t do much to help when you’re physically exceeding what the parts can handle and they break which leads to having constantly repairing the truck, then still deal with the risk of overheating. I run a 2000 ram 3500 for my old farm truck and with an 18’ bumper pull skidloader trailer and a 10k lb T650 on it with nothing more than a bale spear attachment on the truck barely gets out of its own way towing that and that load weight wise is a touch over the max tow rating. and I’ve often exceeded that with adding hay and other attachments on. And the truck with 233k miles hasn’t held up, and it’s maintained the best that you can maintain a truck with regular fluid changes, filters greasing all the fittings, brakes etc. But just little more than a month ago it stripped all the teeth off 4th gear hauling cattle. Three years ago the trans broke an input shaft, it’ll blow the intercooler boots off when towing heavy if you can’t keep it out of higher boost levels, and its had countless U-joints replaced in every location.
I had a 2011 F550. I towed several 30k+ loaded trailers no problem.. Not quite as bad of road conditions but similar grades. also used an H&S Mini Maxx programmer.. Awesome video keep up the sketchy work!!
My point was to agree with his comment of making an upgrade..yes a 550 is much more rigid than a 250/350 .. I hope to see him upgrade to the next one sooner than later..
@@marcushiebert6751 and this lack of understanding for basic physics is why you along with the guy making these videos don't have commercial driver's licenses.
david anthony that’s what my boss and I were talking about the other day, you can buy a GREAT condition day cab semi truck and trailer for less than you can buy any new 1-ton or 45-500 series truck for. And hit shot guys are suppose to have their CDL anyways. They last longer and are made to withstand million+ miles not 2-300k max.
@@chevyon37s yes definitely. Depending on your hauling needs, and $ situation. If I was this guy, I'd get a 2016 Kenworth T880 daycab. Sell that truck. Or trade it in.
I pull food grade tank trailers. in our trailers are loads are typically around 48,000 pounds. Truck with trailer empty is 30100. And I’m sorry but I would never trust any truck. Whether it’s a 350 450 550... 3500 4500 5500. To ever haul anything near 40,000 pounds. That is insanity it is illegal and this guy should have his license permanently revoked for the remainder of his life. Because all I’ve seen from his videos of him acting stupid pulling over loaded trailers and he is going to kill someone sooner rather than later.
@@LJT7907 all his videos is just proof for his ignorance behavior I get it putting his life in risk but he's also putting a mom with 4 kids in a minivan at risk brakes burn up looses control trailer jack knife kills the minivan he's in jail for life all because he thinks a $60,000 truck is compatible of pulling heavy loads you want to pull heavy loads instead of being a little boy go buy a older heavy haul truck and join the club
$60,000 would actually get him a really decent used big rig. Hell half that would still get an okay for what he does. CVSE here in B.C would murder this dude with fines ahahaha
Yeah this guy needs to do more research on the things he's hauling before he hauls them. He doesn't seem to ever know the weight of what he's hauling. I think he gets looks from truck drivers because they know he's overloaded his truck and trailer.
BTW that shudder you felt near the top of the grade when hauling a heavy load is the wheels slipping and the limited slip trying to keep up. When hauling a heavy load up a steep grade or a gravel hill I always use 4 wheel full time drive. If I were hauling that heavy truck that 12 percent grade I would have started at the bottom in 4 wheel low and took my time. In any given situation the faster you try to go up a hill the more energy it takes per second or minute. When you stopped and put the Ford into 4 low the transmission temperatures went down. That's because it takes less energy to pull at a slower rate but more time. Basically: "Work Done" = Time x Energy. more Time = less Energy.
They wouldnt have enough paper in their units. Resort to emailing the violations to him and hope the judge doesnt have a heart attack when seeingnthe violations hit his desk for processing.
@@irishn8 Canada has many the same rules as the US. Especially weights, how the truck is registered and so forth. The only major differences are the hours of service.
you mean so they can do it wrong the next time? cause that seems to be what happens with them at times(atleast certain bits of their history thats exactly what they did)
@@nickconrad94 same, my 05 has 224k on it, never skipped a beat except the starter went out last winter. But at 200k thats gonna happen xD (its all stock but a exhaust, coolant scrubber, and rims)
Who gives a shit about the truck. It's the other lives on the road. Trust me I move drinking rigs in Northern Alberta and BC and regularly haul 80 000lbs to 120 000lbs + on 24 to 48 wheel or more trailer combinations and the thoughts that trump everything else when we are scaling loads, doing load securement, dealing with mechanics making sure nothing is half assed and trucks, trailers, jeeps and boosters are all in their best working order is the thoughts of everyone else on the roads. A full size pickup could slam into our winch tractors or big bed trucks and they could pass away, we may get whiplash. If we run into a 4 wheeler be it car, truck, SUV, whatever the case, it will likely be a fatality especially if on highways. That's why we do extensive "pre trip" inspections/walk around, always check slack adjusters on our brake, most of us a properly certified and trained in load securement, and so much more. If one doesn't care about their own life they damn well need to care about others.
I believe once you get the water or trans up to a certain temp every manufacturer de-rates the power to save the engine and driveline from damage. May be why it felt so good until the monster 12% mountain
Heating a Ford trans. that uses Mercon LV Fluid to 220F* starts forming varnish & LV ATF is very sensitive to fluid breakdown. The PCM will put a vehicle into "limp mode" if it detects excessive ATF temps. on certain models. Machines can be replaced, but you're really playing 'Russian Roulette' with your life and others on the roads. I would trade it in before serious repairs are needed.
skippys shop I’d just do a prompt trans flush personally. Rather than trade it in and lose as much or more than you would spend on a trans rebuild or replacement in that new truck depreciation.
@@bschell1969 Anything above 220s starts clutch burning. Cant change the fluid all you want, but then the clutch is gone in the trans, youre SOL and need a rebuild. Just trade it in and play the stupid card on the dealer before the trans gives out.
Brandon Caldwell like I was saying, I’d just flush it and try not to do that again. The depreciation hit on a new truck will generally hit you harder than a rebuild on the off chance you can’t convince them to do it under warranty. Even on a ford.
@@bschell1969 Again, a flush is useless. He already fucked the clutches. All he would do is flush the grit out of the fluid causing more issues. Leave it be and either trade or let the fucker blow. Personally, trade it in before the thing quits. The lost value is minimal when you can write of gaining the lost value back in taxes.

I’ve been on an 18% downgrade with a fully loaded semi. No problem, you know why, right truck for the right job. Wisen up. Hills aren’t the problem, ignorant driver is.
[][][]MANN Head south out of Dushore, PA on rt 487. There is a big bill board size sign mapping out the grade with an 18% grade marking on it. Its nothing to come across 12% + grades in West Virginia on the back roads. I do a lot of work with the pipelines, and its just part of the job.
@@logdon17 He would have to charge for: a new trans, labor to for the trans, and the same amount of money he would have made in a week (probably 200 dollars) for expenses. Many parts on the truck and the trailer are probably shot to hell as well and will need to be changed soon so, he might as well charge for that too. In conclusion, no it was not worth it. This is a job for a semi.
@@pawtasticdadof532 Trans temp gauge is spot on in all 6.7 Trans doesnt even commands the fan clutch until 245F. Colling reduction mode (extreme lockup all the time) at 260. Ford engineering deems everything up to 255/260 safe. Mercon LV is a champ.
@@joshuarespecki1883 they not accurate at all. Take a temp gun and shoot the coolers, the lines coming out, etc. And good luck running a transmission at 255 degrees.... that's so laughable.

Hey you got it done awsome! Just throwing this out there for you , consider finding that sweet spot on your trailer for weight distribution i know that load was weird but just saying, if the blower was up more might of made a difference. Good work awsome vids keep them coming
15:09 "i cant let off the brakes at all" thats definitely not how you tow a load down hill... lol ....this is what happens when non cdl holders tow commercial weight loads
Do your truck have exhaust brake? I switched from a 2011 one ton ford to a 2019 one ton DRW RAM and it had an exhaust break which is awesome when hauling heavy load down hills
That F350 has been really impressive in what you have done to it. I'm surprised you didn't kill the motor yet. We run F550's and never haul as much as you, and they have No Power, huge turbo lag and I have even had one 6.7L PSD spun the bearings. I wouldn't go anything over a F350 pickup box truck because the F550 has reduced horsepower rating of only 330hp and a weaker turbo.
You guys do realize, if he gets a bigger rig, he’s more than likely going to push it to the max. You don’t get views for mediocre content. Great vid my friend!
Love all the fussing. Glad you take it all well, and dont let it keep you from wanting to share with the rest of us. Impressive rig. I long for people who are willing to push equipment to the limit. I gotta say, these new trucks are no joke. Good luck to you

Any professional trucker uses some "COMMON-SENSE' when taking a load or not. I'm afraid that if you don't start exercising "COMMON-SENSE' you'll never become a professional driver. I feel sorry for the folks near you when you lose total control of your vehicle.
It's crazy but what you did sounds like something I would do. Like use my 95 f150 to carry 4080lbs of sakrete and 500 lbs of treated lumber all at 1 time in the bed of the truck. Had helper springs but I was still frame on axle and the tires were squatting some. Yep that's me. Good job.
2005 silverado Z71 rated towing of 5600lbs. Ive pulled 14,000lbs up a 7%. 5000lbs in the bed is nothing to me... Still have the truck today, but before i blow the trans i figured time to upgrade. Just because it can be done doesnt mean it should be.
dude, fellow Canadian here, i love your videos, but if your gonna keep hauling heavy like you do, you should maybe consider an F-450 without a box. maybe a nice alu utility tray. keep em coming !!
You should think about getting after marker radiator for you transmission because when it stock they are much small and can’t dissipate heat as much as bigger ones

Damn man I've always been a Ford guy regardless their all built the same nowadays anyway but still everyone has their favorite..... This is crazy for any truck hahahahaha congratulations on making it and the truck is fine.. that's incredible u really put it to the ultimate test!
I've only towed a small load in comparison (7,000) but I would think the worst thing to do would be stop on a hill. Even if the trans is suffering, getting it moving would be a lot more difficult.
I have a f250 and as I watch this video, I look down at my truck and think to myself sorry tranny but I’m not stopping bc stopping on the steep hill then start again would seem to cause more damage getting 43 thousand pounds moving again
The new transmissions have a manual mode that is electronically selected. You can’t physically put the lever down in 1st gear (as far as I know); it’s either D (drive) or M(manual mode).Works great til the computer decides to override it.
@@joelschermerhorn5447 if you look when he shows the dash, the PRNDL has PRND21. So he can manually lock the trans in low. Using manual low will allow the TCM to override the selection and upshift.
Hopefully he never gets stopped and weighted with some of the loads he hauls. He have some nice fines. Of course not sure how Canada does things. Here in the states he would get fined and not be able to keep going. He would have to get a bigger truck or hire someone to haul it.
47k.. TWELVE percent grade.. what did you think would happen IDK what your truck weighs to be able to say your total weight (including fuel, you, poke bait, dog, dogs stuff, your clothes, everything)... but I have done 80,000 pounds up a roughly 12% road that connected a lumber mill in a hole to the rest of the world. Cat C15 and eaton 13 speed.. lowest of low gears was the only way that truck was making it out of that hole
