With Adaptive Cruise Control technology, you choose the speed you want to drive at and the system will maintain it. If the built-in RADAR sensor detects a vehicle ahead, it will slow the car to maintain a pre-set distance. Once the road in front is clear, the system will accelerate to your chosen speed.

I have a Vignale but it’s not fitted. I have normal cruise control but not adaptive cruise control. Can it be fitted by ford?

I am guessing that as Adaptive Cruise Control involves the front radar and slightly different steering wheel buttons (the CAN button has another just above it to adjust the distance required) not to mention other changes to the fabric of the vehicle wiring etc.- that this is only a factory fitted option to be selected when the car is made. As at Aug 21, the Car Configurator is showing adaptive as fitted as standard to the Fiesta Vignale Edition model variant. On the Focus is selectable as part of one of the 'packs' at cost.

Thanks for the demo. But you show highway driving. How does for Ford Fiesta's adaptive cruise control react in city driving? Would the car slow down until full stop if the car ahead also fully stops? My wife's Fiesta 2018 doesn't seem to, and is necessary to apply brakes to avoid accident. Thanks for confirming.

Its only for the highway. Adaptive cruise control is not for city driving. For city driving you need other systems, not available for the fiesta.

On the latest Fiesta Vignale Edition (and presumably other models with Adaptive Cruise Control) if you have a vehicle fitted with an automatic gearbox, the car is able to slow right down to a stop and if the vehicle in front moves off within a few seconds, you will move off again without any input all the way up to the set cruise speed if traffic allows. If you remain stopped for more than a few seconds, you either tap the accelerator pedal or press 'Resume' on the steering wheel to move off again. This is listed as: Adaptive Cruise Control (inc.
