Americans and Canadians are very disrespectful when driving. I found this very unusual since they're very good and nice people.

They MUST drive in the left lane.... They MUST! I pass and move over out of courtesy but people's driving skills and knowledge of driving laws in the US are so poor it's breathtaking. I'm surprised I still have hair or haven't rammed my car into the countless jackasses on our roads. 😬

Der Motor ist gut aber von Sound kann ja wohl keine Rede sein bei einem 1.0 Dreizylinder! Das Ding ist akustisch kaum besser als ein Staubsauger. Aber wenigstens ist er schön leise.

Grabonator86 Im Vergleich zu anderen Dreizylindern hat der Ecoboost tatsächlich so etwas wie Sound. Dass er anders klingt als ein Vierzylinder, zum Beispiel hört man das typische Trommeln/Zwitschern, liegt auf der Hand. Aber Ford hat ihm einen ruhigen Lauf und etwas mehr Bass spendiert. Gerade im oberen Drehzahlbereich zwischen 4500 und 6000 U/min lässt er erkennen, dass er ein halber Sechszylinder ist. Nach Staubsauger hört sich das nicht an, da der Turbolader sich akustisch zurückhält. So mancher Vierzylinder (egal ob mit oder ohne Turbo) klingt grausamer. Bei Ford klingen auch die größeren Motoren durchaus ansprechend. Zum Fiesta passt der 1.0 Ecoboost sowieso perfekt, auch eben akustisch. Der Motor ist quirlig und spornt den Fahrer an. Ich hatte dieses Jahr mal die größte Ausbaustufe mit 140 PS getestet und reichlich Spaß daran gehabt. Auch am Sound, den man deutlich schlimmer erwischen kann.

exoroxx Ich muss dir schon gewissermaßen zustimmen. ich habe mir jetzt selber einen Fiesta 1.0 eco-boost angeschafft (100PS), sicherlich nicht weil ich auf geilen sound hoffte sondern ein sparsames neues, günstiges auto wollte mit dem man noch einigermaßen voran kommt. Bin sehr zufrieden mit dem Auto und ab ca. 4000 Umdrehungen lässt sich durchaus ein angenehmer motorsound erkennen. Der Motot baut schon sehr früh einen guten Druck auf. Warum ich nur 100PS genommen habe? Weil ich mir bei mehr PS für einen 1.0 ernsthafte sorgen über die Haltbarkeit mache. Allerdings finde ich dass die Gänge zu lang übersetzt sind. Ist natürlich gut für den Verbrauch aber der wagen erreicht seinen Top-speed schon im vierten Gang, der 5. ist quasi nur Sprit-Sparen....aber hey sprit sparen wollte ich ja....bin ja leider nicht reich. man kann halt doch nicht beides haben^^

***** I'm sorry to hear that. I still have my old 1996 1.5L Toyota Paseo. With regular maintenance those 4 cylinder Toyota engines from the nineties were indestructible. Maybe that would be an alternative for you.

Do you know about the 1.0 Ecoboost, some engine are broken because you have a Schlauch (hose) of coolant who explose and the engine heated and broke.

+AK Wali 47 It should hold up. A motor lasts longer when driven mostly on highways than city traffic with lots of stop and gos. If if you go on long journeys regularly I'd recommend buying Diesel. ;)

I travel 52 miles a day to and from work on the motorway and it's a great car. Put the cruise control on and you can easily hit 55-60MPG.

If you do 60-56 mph you can easily get 500-700 miles from one tank. But doing 75-80mph the fuel economy drops massively. So it does roughy 280-350

Supercharged Magazine No problem, thank you anyway. In my ecoboost, i can feel this vibrations i said when shifting at high revs. It's like the engine propagating through pedal and i wondered if it was normal.

+Cartman998 do you also have a 1.0 fiesta? i have one of them and when the engine is getting to it's temperature about half way through i can hear a weird like a knoking noise coming from the engine i can also feel it on the brake pedal but it can only be heard inside the car, nothing like this can be heard from the outside, do you have the same thing happening in your 1.0 ecoboost?

+Paddy199029 yes, i do have a 1.0 fiesta. These days that are colder in the night, when i start the engine, I can hear very diferent strange noises. I can hear knocking and rattling noises. They are not present when the engine is running at service temperature. What can you tell me about your clutch pedal? Does it vibrate when you shift from 2nd to 3rd at high revs? How smooth do you feel when shifting? I can hear a clunck noise when engaging clutch (releasing pedal) between shifts, and i find really difficult to make smooth shifts, specially from 1st to 2nd gear.

to be honest with you i find it a bit difficult to change smoothly from 1st do 2nd aswell but i cannot hear any noises and no my one does not vibrate at all on any gears, what mileage do you have on yours? mine is just over 25000 and only this knocking noise is abit worrying for me because it does not matter if it's hot or cold it still does about half way through getting up to service temperature. I also had a case where my brake pedal kind of clicked don't know how to explain that but it was very weird, only when i took car out after not driving for about 20 hours. and don't know how you are doing with your tires but my fiesta already have gone through 2 sets of front tires, now i have all 4 new tires as i had a blow out in one of them but them tires from continental that i had on my fiesta where rubbish

Well, according to a German Car Magazine it lasted a 100k km test very well. It has even won several "Engine of the Year" awards. It seems to be a quite good engine but only time will tell how long these EcoBoost engines last in real life.

have you test drove both though, i did and instantly love the st but it will cost me £300 a month for finance and insurance and tax fuck knows the petrol :/ while this is £200 a month

I drive a Grande Punto Sport, 1.4L 125 hp Turbo T-JET running on 100 octane gas and lightly modded. I live in Italy my insurance isn't that bad I paid 350 € every year which is +400 pounds plus extra taxes for the power. So my suggestion is get a Grande Punto Sport or Abarth version and enjoy it tons fun more than a 1L ecoboost :-)
