Thanks for posting Eric, even though you were having one of those days. Some of us can go into stealth mode and dodge coworkers and work when we're having a rough time, but you're putting yourself out there for us. I'm not using much time on RU-vid, but SMA soon I've seen all published. Even all the brake jobs, hehe. I can recommend to buy some of the merch who is for sale. Well, the owner shouldn't be jacking with the electrical system in the first place. My heart went out to Eric rejecting the vehicle, knowing full well he would be continually blamed for re-occurring electrical problems largely caused by the owner wanting non standard crap added to the car and installed by hacks. Seeing that electrical cluster fk, I would reject it too. But we'll see what he does tomorrow.

6:34 How does this thing work? That’s not something you want to here from your mechanic. ;) A few years ago I took my company Transit 150 service van to a Ford quick lube, routine service. I was sitting in the waiting area watching RU-vid and noticed the mechanic head out to my van. A short time later he’s standing in front of me and says the key won’t turn. I looked around, people were watching, looked at him asked if he was going to work on my van. He said Yessir. I said for the last twenty year’s I’ve been driving Ford vans, sometimes the steering wheel won’t lock, the key won’t turn when you put it back in, other times it locks but it’s against the stop. Shake the steering wheel turn the key. They had a window that overlooked the service area with stools, I moved.

Eric, I'll start by saying that your trouble shooting skills and logic are second to none, I wish that more mechanics had the patience and skill you show. I recently retired from 45 years in the maintenance and repair of earthmoving and construction equipment as a mechanic and supervising the fleets mechanics, and have seen some crap work, butt connectors, scotch locks ( I call them Uhaul connectors!) twisted wires, black tape, etc. I was often the end of the line when others walked away or just were out of their league, I also had many days where I wanted to walk away as you showed , but I know that it is the challenge that keeps us there. Keep up the good work ! I can only hope that your skills will rub off on some of the viewers, I believe also "that if I can do it, so can you " . People just need to try ! Mark

These new vehicles must be designed by politicians! 1. I propose we turn on the headlights 2. Ok, we'll sent that to the body module committee for debate. 3. The body module committee needs conformation that you indeed want to turn the headlights on. 4. Recieving conformation the body module committee then debates if the headlights on is actually needed. 5. Body control module approves turning on the headlights and sends it to the ECM committee. 6. ECM committee then debates if headlights are needed or can we use just the parking lights instead. 7. By the time the decision is approved its daytime and the headlights are no longer required. 8. Everyone on the body module and ECM committee's pat themselves on the back on what a fine job they've done!

I agreeing out with another viewer you were just having one of those bad days sir , and seeing a car like this make sure days even worse , out here in California when you see cars with added security systems it's the same kind of crap as what you're talking about it's called cut it out and put it back to factory it's just that simple I think even you told us that from time to time all right Eric keep up the good work .

Even on a bad day be the best guy you can be. Mission accomplished today Eric. And you know that you will only need to glance at that loom to see the broken wire because you ALWAYS find the break straightaway! Thanks for putting out the video when you are not 100% the Mr O we cherish. No Mrs O today? There's your problem lady!!

I had a 2012 base model version of this car that I did add foglights to which meant doing some creative wiring, however I did document all the wiring I did and used as much of the already existing factory wiring that was available. When I sold the car I made sure the new owner got a copy of the added wiring documentation, outlining what circuits I tapped in to and had a wiring diagram of the relay control wiring I used for the foglights. I also added factory cruise control to this car and a few other upgrades (factory rear disc brake upgrade from drums) as well as added the SE model instrument cluster which allowed me to turn off the traction control which wasn't possible on the S model. Long story short. If your going to mess around with the car, document everything you did and send it with the car when you sell it so if something goes sour later on, the person who has to fix it knows what you did and why you did what you did.
