Good review. Absolutely love my diesel ST! Had it nearly a year now and test drove an RS and the new Fiesta ST and neither put the smile on my face that this car does. Get a decent map on it and the torque will keep you more than entertained. Handling is phenomenal too!
Ive been considering buying one of these but was unsure whether to go for petrol or diesel. Being i want the economy as well as the sporty looks I’ve watched a few videos including this one and my mind is now set on getting an ST3 diesel but a 2015/2016 where the road tax is only £20 for the year. Good all round value in my opinion 👍🏾
I had a st3 diesel 16 plate and was really happy with it But I only chose diesel because I done a lot of miles a week If it wasn’t for doing the miles I’d have had a petrol
Such a decent down to earth review. I had one for 6 months a temp company car and I’m looking at another (three years later) and watching this has reminded me of how good it was. Cheers.
Got stage 1 pumaspeed with induction hose, k&n filter and Milltek cat back. Planning on going stage 2. Cars been faultless (touch wood) best car ever had.
Theyre even better after a remap , im running collins cp1 atm and it feels more like an st...its our family daily so it had to be good on fuel , will be looking into pumaspeed stage 3 unless another company comes alone ...270bhp 500nm plenty enough for the streets
Great video John. I've had my ST3 diesel from new in January 2015 and put a Bluefin remap on it at about 6,000 miles. Have just clocked up 85,000 on it and it's one of the best cars I've owned if you want performance and economy. I'm just waiting for the new shape ST due to come out next year. I hope they do a diesel version, otherwise I'll have to go with the 2.3 petrol that they are offering. Thanks once again for doing such an honest review - I agree with all of it!
Great video pal. I’ve had my petrol estate st3 for just over a year now, and love it. Good all rounder. Your right in there are a few little bits you’d change but I would defo buy another one in heart beat.
Nice honest review , some of these ford guys need to get their shit together when it comes to knackered gearboxes on a car of this age, terrible service from some dealers . We are paying your wages ,sort it out, perhaps we should start looking at vw or audi bmw. or kia look at their warranty. i liked this john you told it how it was. THANKS
you got a great funny way with this dude, what you do with the deer, been looking at these cars all week the gearbox pain has wonked it a bit but hey could happen on any machine yeh
What’s the interior plastics like in you car???.... I’ve just got rid of my 7.5 GTI GOLF for shoddy build quality and creaking plastic with rattles and fancy the ST-3 diesel
I have the mk3.5 ST3 deisel absolutely love it but being ford theyve spent the money the performance feel and the seats, interior build quality not so much, there are the odd creeks and rattles, the common rattle is the drivers door drives you mad if you dont have music on, other thing is the 19'' wheels that I have mean there is no such thing as a comfortable drive
Good video mateeyyyyy, got the fiesta st-2 mp215 and around city driving like a granny i can be getting around 35mpg which aint bad even when ragging it. If i had a little bit more money i would of deffo gone for a focus st diesel and remapped it. If you’re experiencing lag its worth looking at removing the dpf filter
If you're in the UK NEVER touch your DPF, unless you have a certified mechanics sign off, it will be an instant MOT failure. Other places you can possibly get away with it.
Great video, if only more people did this kind of review! My mind is swaying back to the focus st. Will stay away from the foray group though... Unless I get the regional managers number first 🤣. Have you taken the car down any rough tracks in your travels? How did it fair?
RotatableAxle sorry for late reply I didn’t think anyone would comment lol I have but I worry with those low profile tyres about flat spotting a wheel thanks for your comment
Great review - mine is very occasionally notchy going in to 4th, get's about 3/4 of the way and then needs a bit more of a push to engage fully, is this what you we're experiencing? Was it a complete removal of the transmission and strip down to access the bushing and do you know what price that would have been? Thanks!
Ours has been used and drove hard from day one, if you know how to drive this will show a clean pair of heels to most on B roads or a roads We’ve got a stage 2 tune running 250ish more than enough with all that torque 🤗
