Drove one and was pleasantly surprised. The car has balls and is fun to drive. It’s fast and handles great and is pretty comfortable. It rides well which surprised me because of the type of car. Shifts great and it looks good.
I just got my ST3 in stealth grey last friday. I am in love with the car. A larger part of the choice making came from watching your videos so thanks for the great reviews. I could not be happier!
Sascha Hamelryck are you in Europe? In the states we only get magnetic grey and the stealth grey is only on the RS. i deeply wish we could get it on the ST in the states
I'm from Belgium (central Europe) very happy with the colour, but you guys get the carbon fibre package on the ST3 wich we can't get (unless via aftermarket) :)
Sascha Hamelryck that's unfortunate, but the only carbon fiber piece i think I'd get if i didn't have the ST3, would be the shift knob. The carbon fiber ST knob is just very cool
bk138 ST the shift knob is the only part I would leave of. I like the feel of the more square shaped aluminum one. But on the door handles and especially around the boost gauge I like the carbon fibre trim a lot. I opted for the ST3 because of the seats and I’m so happy I did they are awesome
JVAS I went with the SI. A two door coupe. It feels a bit more comfortable for the hour drive I take to work everyday. I think I made a good choice but the ST was a really close second.
Traded my 2010 Mustang GT in for a brand new 2015 Focus ST ST3. 3 years and 24000 miles later I am still in love with this car! The perfect daily driver and such a joy to drive! Great video dude!
I always tell people "the focus ST does everything well except haul adults in the back seats, but it still isn't terrible at that". Dude, if you like the shifter now just wait until you feel a short shift plate. I have the FSWERKS shift plate (easiset to install) set on the 30% setting....I was amazed.
People always compliment my interior, I have and ST3 package too. People say "damn, FORD has really stepped up their game." They usually assume it's a 2016 or newer, but mine is a 2014.
So glad to see this video. I’m shopping for a car to use for rallycross and autocross. But I would love to be able to drive it to events instead of trailering it. That has me looking at the focus rather than the fiesta now and this video does a great job of showing me what it would be like on those trips.
Kurtage77 You do realize the GTI is underrated right? In reality, both cars make about the same power. Also, mod for mod the GTI will make more power than the ST.
osamabindrinkin40s Yeah, that’s why 95% of automotive journalist say the GTI interior is better than the ST. The only acceptable interior on the ST is the ST3 trim. The ST1 and ST2 interiors are cheap looking and feeling. But a I guess all the automotive experts are wrong and you are the only one who is right. 🙄
It's very close. After looking at 2018 ST and GTI interiors, I think I prefer ST. I can't give an opinion on the comfort level though as I haven't sat in either.
I test drove this car with the same seats. My legs were completely stuck together and I’m not a heavy person. I also thought it had an odd seat angle where the front was way higher than the back and I couldn’t change it. I loved the way it drove though.
Had my ST for 4 years now and it´s a fantastic DD. Just brought it to a German Ford Racing partner to get it up to 330HP, install a LSD and new exhaust. Can´t wait!
Gjeebs man great video ! I daily and drive a 2014 fost st2 and im only getting 19.2 mpgs lol however im running a 93 octane tune full intake cobb intercooler cobb downpipe (catless) with a full Roush exshaust! I couldnt be more happy with these cars both stock a modified !
Good vid, thanks. Funny you mention the QX30 as a GLA competitor - Infiniti and MB actually co-developed these two cars. The QX30 has an MB engine in it, though I hear they're going to diverge.
I don't even think the GTI is a comparison. The price difference on a fully loaded GTI is almost 40k which is insane. The ST3 is the best bang for buck imo as a daily
I am looking forward to getting this car as my first car ever. I just love the stick shifting and the connection it gives you to the car and i love the style of the focus ST. I just can`t wait till getting enough money to buy it. It`s just too much hype
I’ve just recently got myself a Ford Focus mk3 st3 in frozen white a couple of weeks ago and by god it is a gorgeous car to drive! I don’t regret my decision at all! Unfortunately I can only drive it to work and back as my country is on lockdown due to covid 19 but have made a few people at work very jealous! Haha, I’m from the UK nice videos man been watching quite a few of yours lately!
Gjeebs most definitely is! I’ve always wanted one and so happy to own one! I seen your latest video on the focus earlier I’m glad to hear your still liking it after 4 years! And no worries dude! Keep up the good work 👍🏻
Hey man! Really appreciate your vids! I'm getting a new ST ST3 this June. Could you maybe go over the stupid interior stuff for the ST3 like Sync, interior lighting, seat movement, keyless entry? Also, thoughts on getting a 2017 (if I can find one) vs 2018? Maybe see what 2019 brings?
All I could think of watching this is April 2020 is, you coughing = Corona!! Seriously though, love watching the videos. Recently got a job with Ford, and the FoST is one of the cars I am most interested in getting. Hope you are staying healthy.
Hey bro can you do a video on how to navigate the ford performance website and how to register etc and also I keep hearing the ST blows head gaskets is that true and how to prevent it? Awesome channel btw bro 👌💯
I had a 13 escape 2.0 turbo. I know it''s not as tuned as the focus ST but that thing was awesome and such a blast drive. Too bad someone hit the car and wrecked it.
I had a 2017 ST1. It's a fun car and handles great. Postives-Great torque, love the symposer sound in the cabin, comfortable cloth seats in ST1, good shifter, great steering wheel. Negatives-Ride quality isn't the greatest. Can be very choppy at times, rattles-had one from the rear passenger side that was annoying and I could never get rid of it, rear hatch was not aligned right, some torque steer if really hammered hard. I'd never get an ST3. For that money, get a GTI. It's way better built and just as fast or faster. But I got my ST1 for under $20K......that's a ton of bang for the buck and the cloth seats are great.
Tylor Kucsmas haha I can tell that you watched it all the way through. I need to loosen up a little bit and let my personality come through in my videos, sometimes I am too robotic. Thanks for the feedback!
Hey what do you think on reliability of the ST? Iooking at a 13' and before I buy I want to know about reliability and ease to work on from a owners standpoint.
I have a ST3 and really like the interior as well. One complaint is that the instrument cluster LCD does not show any music, phone, or navigation info.
I had an 07 WRX and the back seat space was just as small or smaller than the ST in my opinion. The next car I buy is going to be an ST with the ST3 package.
I hope this comment isnt coming to late, but i was planning on getting either this or a prius tomorrow (ik its a broad spectrum lol) i just wanted to know what the cost to own is like, along with reliability (hence why im deciding between this and a prius).
Glad I watched this. I was debating whether to get the Focus RS, but was also thinking about an ST, as it is far cheaper. While I love the more aggressive look and more power from the RS, I won't use it, I don't race, I don't really drive in a manner that would take advantage of it. So I think the ST would suit me much better and still allow me to have a little fun while giving me some comfort on my commutes to work. I was looking at 31k cheapest for the RS, I am finding 2016 ST's with 50k miles for only 12.5 online, big difference. Though I can't lie, it would be so nice to get an RS, just might be too expensive even with the inheritance I am getting. My plan was to get a new car, pay majority of it off, finance and pay off a couple thousand, get a new/used motorcycle, most likely Harley or Indian, and then use the rest to invest.
@@joseduarte8541 I ended up paying 22 for a 2014. It was during shortage due to COVID last March. I was stupid. I moved overseas and the car is sitting in the US lol and I owe too much still to sell it. Funny part? In Poland, RS is cheaper than what I still owe on the ST.
Really want the partial leather, bigger touch screen and sunroof but I can't afford it. Don't know if I should just wait for the price to drop or say fudge it and buy the base model. Decisions ....
I can say that the ST isnt the best choice for winter overall, however...it IS a 4-season sports car compared to a Mustang or other choices. It might not be as competent in bad weather as an RS, but its also not a $60,000-$64,000 car like those are (YES, they are in that pricerange here in Canada). The ST is a vastly more entertaining than a Corolla, and it has well deserved street cred from car enthusiasts. Overall, I don't think the ST is bad as a year-round daily. The clutch, gearbox, and ride are all great, and the Recaro seats get better with age/ break-in.
It's an amazing car. Amazing interior. If you have the 402a (st3) package you know what I mean. Also I wish it was awd. I can deal with it having less power but making a fwd car awd is a no go for me. Basically tearing the car up just to make it an rs. But eith the same power same car just add awd and the car would be the best daily driver imo. As of now the rs holds that crown. 👑👍 (opinionsofanSTowner) not biased.🤗
oONoChanc3Oo the sunroof is nearly the only option I didn’t get. Think I don’t have this option to change the colors. That’s a bummer. If I had known that :p
Clubs fit if you pull out anything longer than a 5 wood and put them in separately. Unless you have plugs in your grips, your headrests are pretty high...
Headrests have been adjusted since this video lol also I know you can put the clubs in if you pull the woods out I just don’t like doing that so I fold the seat down
@@Gjeebs I feel ya. I was disappointed that clubs didn't fit, even just one set. I've put in two sets of clubs but then I had woods and drivers everywhere. My old Mazda 6 could take 4 bags with some shoving. I'm not exactly sure why people say a hatchback is "practical", in some ways it's really not. Lol
Hey haven't done enough investigation on your channel and such, but I drive very similarly to you, and at 35,000 miles my transmission fluid was burnt. So I had the dealer replace it before the warranty expired. I know the manual says it's like 75,000 miles or some shit. But if you drive it like we pretty much all do ;) I'd like to recommend you change your transmission fluid soon. I was blown away when the guy let me smell it. I'm gonna do mine again at 55k. Just some info you might appreciate. My car is at 50k. Not sure where your girl is. (Fist bump)
Just thoroughly look through the options and get exactly what you want. That will make you happiest longest. Since it will be your daily driver (like mine is) I suggest getting the ST3 package which has all the bells and whistles that you will enjoy on a daily basis. It's very easy to drive this transmission as well and when you get the hang of it, it's just fun to shift.
I like the ST but I prefer my mustang in terms of comfort and room interior. I will however buy a daily driver Honda Accord or Ford fusion, keep my mustang as a weekend fun car.
I'm from Aus, and am currently on my L's. I drive an RS but won't be able to on my P's, I really enjoy the RS' sports mode upshift and crackle that the exhaust makes. Can an ST do something similar? I was thinking of buying a 2016 ST as it's legal for P's unlike an RS. So yeah, just wondering if an ST can make exhaust crackles like the RS
I love my st its prob the best performance car I have drive fun and easy to drive. and if you like to wheel spin easy peesy lol and I have no idea how big your golf bag is never had any prob getting stuff in my st
Si was a much more rewarding engine to drive and the ST just had a lot more power. Both great cars. I wouldn’t mind having an Si again and I will have the new one as a press car soon
Aye bro.. i really like this video, thanks for reviewing it. I’m actually looking for a car a everyday drive car that can be fast and look sick LMAO. Im 18 and this is gonna be my first car. What do you think? Need ur opinion thank you!
This would be a great first car. Has 4 doors and 5 seats so you can haul people around and have fun when it'd just you. Also when you have a full car it can still pull hard because it has enough power. I have 80 other videos on this car that should help you a lot.
Yea I don't see why not. It's easy to drive and has plenty of performance. Insurance could be a little high depending on your age but other than that you should love it.
@@mitchellcummings758 I got my first car (mazdaspeed 3) about 2 months ago and my brother has an st. Both are great cars although the st is easier to drive for a beginner
I'd learn to drive a stick on an old truck if you can find one. Just cause sporty cars' clutches are a bit more nuanced and easier to ruin. If you can drive a stick no problem then it's a great car. Some beginners might have a tough time dealing with driving AND shifting. But nobody is perfect when you start out. Insurance might be high if you're a young man.
Hey Gjeebs, I wanted to ask you a question on MPG, I currently have an ST3. Im averaging 20.9mpg. But I try driving normally and I try to stay out of boost when just driving. Why do you think its only at 20? Could it be the premium gas I put it? Help me out please lol i want 25 at least 😂
That’s really low. I would reset your mpg by holding “ok” on the steering wheel or measure it on your own to make sure it’s reading correctly. Also shift at 3k
Gjeebs thanks I really appreciate the reply! I will rest it on my next fill up! And I usually shift when the arrow pops up on the dash. Thank you again for the advice!
Hello. I want buy a Focus ST, I don´t have much money, so, I was looking for two months, finally I found a ST 2016 used with 60 k miles, the agency has a Price of 15k dollars. (the Price in 2016 was about 25 k) Is good or bad idea buy it? I tested it, and I dind´t found any problem. I from Mexico.
I own this car and I agree with you however you didn't touch on one thing that people should know about...it has a relatively small gas tank. I'm ALWAYS having to fill this damn thing up..... It's quite annoying considering how great gas mileage is (which you did say 30)....But having to fill the small tank up is good when the gas is cheap, but still annoying.
Lmao my friends 2013 Hyundai Sonata fits a Mtn. Bike and a bmx bike without any bike rack just by folding down the seats and taking off the bicycles wheels
The GTI interior is shit compared to the SI. Looks like a normal Volkswagen! Volkswagens are not good cars! And the WRX is not very comfortable in back seat.
Dude, I can fit my mountain bike in the back with the rear seats down... how big are those golf clubs? Get a SUV or a Minivan if cargo space is what you want.
The ST is way too torkey, bigger turbo will only make the ST a better car . Having no traction and spinning your tires gets a little old. I'll take high end tork any day.
