Thanks! That one came back a few times after, might have been an odd ball. I ended up overlaying both legs of the network circuit with braided network wire from a spare harness. It didn't have the issue nearly as often but the cluster was suspected to also have an issue
I have one of these vehicles and I'm convinced they are haunted. There's no other explanation. Some people have a parasitic draw from the AC blow fan resister, some people have to replace the entire wire harness, some have had to put resisters in the evap sensor wiring to stop overloading the current. There's so much wrong with this car no matter the year electrically. And that's not counting the oil leaks, the TPS sensors causing the steering rack to go out (yes really), or the transmission issues. Ford just really ghosted these vehicles up.
Got an (Sort of) unrelated question: I'm looking to buy a scan tool. I'm sort of leaning toward the BlueDriver. I want something that won't cost a fortune, but has a good amount of capabilities. Any advice?
For fords I'd use Forscan. For all-around, I'd look at TOPDON AD600S on amazon. It's got good reviews and its on sale. I haven't personally used it. Your bluedriver sounds like a good choice. I've had an old harbor freight one for years that I use once in a while, I paid $120 for it.
Thx man, I'll do some homework those too! A lot of cool stuff about BlueDriver, huh? I like that ForScan has a special actuator test. That could be handy for my DPS6, eventually. (The ForScan ELM327) also looks like I can do stuff like disable the annoying hood open warning, because I currently don't have the sensor connected in the latch itself. (Trying to figure out where the wires vanished to. My car is a re-built title. Before I bought it, it had a slow front end collision with the back garage wall. Needed new bumper cover, and a handful of other more minor things, including a passenger side front tire replacement. How it apparently wound up with a mismatched r-front)@@BigBensCarsAndCycles
