Ford & GM Made A DUMB MOVE! Truck Buyers ANGRY After Finding Out The Truth...

Ford and GM are having a rough start to 2024. Overpriced trucks and suv's are just sitting on lots and not selling. Ford & GM are in big trouble and their CEO's seem to be in complete denial that anything is actually going wrong with the brands.

And when you add it up , when you charge an EV your still not getting the range that you get with ICE vehicle , and an ICE vehicle fill to capacity in 5 minutes, and to add even more insult to injury with the EV , the range you have the day you purchased it , every single charge you do , a little bit of that very expensive battery dies. Basically EVs have built in obsolescence, EVs are shit.

I was called a conspiracy theorist and an idiot when I disproved Ford's claim about the lightning and powering a jobsite for a day and still being able to drive home. Turns out this 60 yr old with no engineering experience but 50 years of LIFE experience knows better than all the engineers and fanboys combined. Same as when they talked about towing and range. if you have 300 miles of range and the vehicle alone weighs 7000 lbs, if you pull a 5000 lbs vehicle at the MIN your range will be reduced by 50% just from weight alone not including wind resistance. "no no no" the fanboys said...until Hoovie proved it. For every mile he drove with an empty car hauler he lost over 2 miles of range. That was on level ground too NOT going up hills.

The issue is that GM and Ford try to pad their profits by adding tens of thousands of options and packages and trims on a basic truck, when all the average person wants is a basic base model truck that's not QUITE rental poverty spec. You know, add in all the safety options and maybe a screen that connects to your phone, plus a few colors other than shades of depression. I was in the market for 2 new cars. The first car I was looking at was a 2 door Jeep Rubicon and the dealers wanted $56k for the options I wanted with a mark up of course, so I decided to by a new 1 year old Honda Ridgeline fully loaded for 40k instead. Jeeps are another ridiculously priced brand. The second car was going to be a gas saver and I looked at a 2023 Toyota Prius and again the dealer wanted over 40k with a mark up, so I decided to get the Tesla Model Y and with the tax credit it came in at the same price as the Prius. I couldn’t be happier with the purchase plus the fact that Tesla doesn’t do dealer markups. The pricing is all up front and very nice for the customer. It was the best buying experience by a long shot. I drove it to Miami from SC and it was a great trip and what I noticed is that by the time I needed to stop to charge I was ready to get out of the car to rest, eat or use the bathroom.

I drive a 2023 Ford e-transit van for work. (That's 100% an EV). I haven't yet managed to overload it. They understood the weight issues with batteries and adjusted accordingly. Meanwhile, the power train weight is lighter, so there is that. The vehicle is leased, so we won't be fronting the cost of replacing batteries. The torque is awesome, btw. Don't misunderstand: the e-transit has lots of _Ford issues_ -- stupid little things that were better designed in my 2007 Chrysler Town & Country -- but I can live with those issues. I can give you another reason EVs are not selling: Solar. We have a 18kw solar system and in the summer, we have power to spare. But in the winter we are on the grid a lot. This is w/o an EV. So if we expect to charge an EV during the winter, it's not happening off our solar, we'll have to use the grid to charge it. I think a lot of people thought "Well I have solar so it'll be free to charge the EV." In reality, that is not happening. You have to be very careful about how you use electricity and an EV is just another load you need to manage.

There's no LOL here, only practicality. Let's be real. Let's talk about the compromises of ice cars. Are they more expensive than EVs. NO, they're cheaper. Ok, do they come with range anxiety? NO, not at all, that only applies to EVs. Are you recommended to fill your gas tank to 80% to prolong engine life? NO, that only applies to EVs. Does your range diminish with time? NO, that only applies to EVs. Do you get recharging anxiety with an ice car? NO, that only applies to EVs, an ice car will refuel in minutes. Are there a shortage of gas stations. NO, that only applies to EV charging stations. Does extreme heat or cold affect an ice car's range and performance? NO, that only applies to EVs. Will my ice car depreciate faster than a stone in the ocean? NO, that only applies to EVs. Will I worry about range and charging anxiety if I rent a car? NO, car rental companies are dumping their plans to adopt EVs and are re-investing in ice cars. If I'm lucky enough to be one of the people who can charge at home, do I need to install an expensive charging unit to charge my ice car? NO, that only applies to EVs, I can fuel up at the gas station down the street in 5 minutes. Will my insurance rates skyrocket on my ice car? NO, that only applies to EVs. ( my current ice car's insurance is about $750 a year ) Will my ice car's expensive battery pack be damaged in an accident or just wear out with time and need replacement? NO that only applies to EVs, ice cars don't need troublesome battery packs. Does my ice car rely on china for a battery pack? NO, that only applies to EVs. Will my ice car spontaneously combust with furious thermal runaway for no particular reason? NO, that only applies to EVs. I keep on looking for the alleged compromises in ice cars but they just don't seem to be there. There is no LOL in the real world.
@ZipZoomZip

You are gullible if you really believe everything you wrote there. The proof is that most people who experience the advantages of pure electric drivetrains don't ever want to go back to gas powered cars. That is incompatible with your silly claims. Electric cars are just more convenient (and, yes, you need a charging station at home or work for that to be true). But living somewhere you can charge is not luck, it's a conscious decision and most single-family homes are suitable for EV charging stations without great expense. Mine cost less than a thousand dollars which I paid back in 4 months of not buying gasoline. @@patrickchubey3127

Not only did they pay a premium on both vehicles, their fault for falling for this debacle, they cannot get rid of them. The truck is useless, $110,000.00, and the Mach E is unreliable to drive any further than 100 miles round trip. My Dentist bought a KIA EV6 for $10,000.00 over MSRP plus another $1,500.00 in worthless add-ons, flat satan paint not holding up well, and he is forever upside down on that car. That said, he told me it is reliable but he has to be careful where he goes with the car because of the charging problems in California. Here's a shocker - I'd also love a regular ol' fashioned gas truck/SUV, but I'm not getting one of those either for the exact same reason: the price. Once those become affordable (for both), then the real "what do consumers want" conversation can begin, but while both are ridiculously priced, you'll never get a square answer.
