Right now, many of the dealers of the major auto makers like Ford GM, and Stellantis are sitting on over three months of inventory for their brand new on sold cars, which is way above the industry average. And these unsold new cars have a ripple effect on the economy, and also hurt the lower end used car sales as well.

Well lol Unless I win the lottery or some similar unusual occurrence, I will be staying with the car I have. A 2005 Hyundai sonata with 163,000 miles on it. I drive it about 3 miles a day if that. I could get $10,000 off a GMC Sierras Denali right now. Local dealers have 77 Sierras in stock. Nothing is moving. I am waiting it out and letting them bleed further. The fun is only getting started. 38% price increase on Sierras in 4 years, for no apparent reason, it's the same model. I assure you, there is PLENTY of wiggle room left to spare. Let the auto makers eat themselves

My video game island, free of all these stupid economic woes, can't even afford a jet show. I haven't even seen a jet for sale. I would buy it, as my pretend video game money is piling up and I have already built and bought most everything that I can. We have the island powered by free-energy machines, utilities are free, no inflation, no taxes, yet not even make-believe land can afford a silly jet show. I guess it helps that we have no politicians on the island. Gee, how did we manage that? I hope all those jets are the good guys taking out the evil deep state.

I grew up in the car business. Most dealerships have a floor plan where they finance their vehicles. These loans are interest only for 90-180 days then there is a balloon payment. Not only are they paying 15+ year high interest rates, they are also going to be forced to come up with cash to pay off their inventory. Lots of dealerships are not going to make it.

Used to work in the car industry. Every year, we would sell less and less cars nationally but the factories would keep pumping them out to "meet objectives". It was a disaster waiting to happen. I guess we are finally here now.

I'm glad I guessed right at the beginning of c19. Snagged a used economy car off a lot in mid '20. Been slowly replacing any wear & tear item since. All is well as long it doesn't wind up in an accident. Meaning, too expensive to replace.

That's where I'm at. I own two cars: a 2000 Lexus GS300 with 154,000 miles on it that I inherited from my dad, and a 2009 Hyundai GLS with 54,000 miles on it. I don't see myself selling either one--I'll drive 'em until they fall apart.

These brands of vehicles are crap. Kia, Hyundai, and Nissan are also crap. Toyota is also incorporating unreliable plastic parts that break into their vehicles. Honda is also crashing in reliability. The Car Wizard fully understands why thoughtful people avoid buying ANY BRAND of new car. New cars are becoming more unreliable with each passing year! I am taking very good care of my used vehicles. Yes. I was surprised that the plastic covering on my driver's seat of my 2021 Toyota brokedo quickly! It's probably no longer under warranty either. The workmanship is getting tacky. My mud guard disappeared last year after a heavy Florida rainfall. (Not hurricane) I was super surprised!!!!

After reading how modern cars can download information off your phone when you charge it, I am not interested in paying $50,000 for a surveillance system that reports my sex life and who is behind the wheel not on my insurance plan... sorry, but I am not a fool. I will use that $50,000 to refurbished my 2013 Honda till it rusts all the way through and can no long carry me to the grocery store in the year 2050 🤷‍♂️

Actually , manufacturers install computer chips that provide insurance companies with driving habits, etc. kinda like MapQuest gathering information as soon as you drive and provide a monthly report if everywhere you drove

I paid my car off back in 2019 and I've officially been done with car payments for 5 years which was my loan. The last 5 years have been incredibly liberating not paying the bank just to drive my car. It's just so much easier to have the cash and leverage from a desperate seller when the Poop hits the fan. Just be ready for the day.

Most of these gas guzzling, smog emitting trucks and SUVs have no reason to be on the road when most vehicles have only one occupant and are rarely used to haul a load of any kind. There should not be any emissions or gas mileage exception for these trucks and SUVs regardless of their size. Bring back the small cheap commuter cars with 4 cylinders!

I moved to a small Kansas community and bought a nice little house for $45K. I have a 40 minute commute to work but it's worth it. There are cheap houses in these small outlying communities if you don't mind the commute and quiet life.

Toyota is coming out with a small pickup again. The Toyota stout. Cost is estimated to be between 15000 to 25000. I think it's supposed to be a small pickup like the old Datsun. Can't wait.. I've been looking for one of those old Datsun's.. Now, maybe I can get new. It's supposed to be out in 2025. Just like they are starting to make smaller homes, they are going to start making smaller cars.. Everything is getting downsized.

My sister is in the market for a new Jeep. Tried to make a deal on a model where inventory is piled up sky high. Nope. Dealers will not cut prices. Now she says she won't buy a Jeep even if they cut prices significantly because she was treated so contemptuously at the three dealerships she visited. As long as her current vehicle is in good repair, she doesn't need a new car. I'm driving a 15 year old Hyundai and have no plans to buy anything soon.

As a retired AF veteran of 30 years I can tell you the fly-bys and aerial demonstrations on Memorial Day and other special days like the 4th of July and Superbowl fly overs, etc., are not a waste of taxpayer monies. Commanders use them as training missions. Pilots and aircrews fly to maintain proficiency so what you think is a "boondoggle" it is actually a much needed training mission . The practice and training to do tight formation flying is needed for aircrew proficiency.

As a former skilled trades contractor who spent time in various domestic plants throughout Michigan, I strictly forbid my family members from driving ANY DOMESTIC ! Their quality, tolerances and attention to detail are freeking laughable 😂😂 ! The only time a handle my tools anymore is to fix stuff around the house and the occasional oil change. My 25 year old Tacoma runs like a top as does our Subaru, Hondas !

Pilots are not simply "flying around spending millions of dollars during memorial day". Pilots in the armed forces have to fly a minimum set of hours per year to keep up with their currency. Some of those hours may be on simulator, but some must be on real type aircraft, doesn't matter when or where. So these events give them an opportunity to catch up and maintain their skills sharp.

I'm not sure on Florida property tax laws, but I assume it is due to an appraisal cap imposed by the legislature. California and Texas have a similar system, where depending on the type of property, the taxable value can only increase by x% per year, but the market value can increase by however much the assessor wants. Once someone buys that property, all those exemptions and caps completely reset, and you're taxed on the market value, which can be hundreds of thousands of dollars in difference.

Totally understand your concern about flying the jets, but I can help provide some clarity to these expenses. As an AF Vet (and now finance for DoD) I worked with pilots and coordinated flyovers for different events like NASCAR. That said, I’m not an expert and I don’t know everything, but pilots have to fly a certain number of hours monthly, and this money is typically budgeted five years out. It’s not like they are wasting new money. They use event opportunities to meet flying hour requirements to remain proficient and certified.

Hello Michael. Marine Corps veteran here. You're way off on the air shows. These pilots are training constantly, and the air show is just the plug-in to that training. You mentioned if someone had asked anybody in Miami if they wanted this air show, but it doesn't come from just the people in Miami, I'm sure you're aware. If these pilots weren't flying an air show for the people of America, they'd be out in the desert flying over empty land or the ocean. It doesn't cost the taxpayer any more money for them to fly over Miami, than the Pacific Ocean with not a soul for miles. It's a treat for the American people, and that's it. You should be grateful for this display. People in Flint, Michigan or Gary, Indiana would love to see it. Besides, it's not the right day for this type of commentary. Semper Fi.

I am sure there is a cost to organize an airshow in an urban area, but as far as I can tell it serves multiple purposes. It is a recruitment tool, probably the most effective one. It also bridges the divide between the army and urban citizens by bringing to the forefront the best they have to show.

My credit union, that used to loan a 100% on car loans, is now requiring a 10% to 20% down payment. I need to come in with a $10K down payment, and that is not going to happen. I currently drive a 2002 Hyundai with 75K miles, and I am now committed to driving it until the wheels fall off! Engines are the least of potential problems in modern cars. Oil and filter changes and they will last a long time.

Dang, I just went to the local Ford dealer. It’s probably like 6 acres. There were hardly many cars a year and a half ago now there’s it’s crazy. There’s thousands and thousands of Ford trucks

My hubby is a former military pilot. These airshows are an opportunity for pilots and ground crews to PRACTICE! A nice side factor is the PR effect. Flying in formation (wing tips 12” apart!) and peeling away takes PRACTICE! The 5 plane diamond formation where one plane peels away solo to pay homage to lost aircraft and pilot always gives me goosebumps. I live near a city that occasionally has these air shows and crowds love these demonstrations.

I didn’t see the jet, but typical operating cost for a fighter jet is between $20k and $35k/hour. I do think it’s pretty cool to see them fly though.

The funniest part is most don't own but lease the trucks when they get cheap deals. You can still get one for 200 a month on a lease.

Yep I just bought a 2022 Cadillac XT5 SUV/crossover & it stopped dead on a dime on its own because it 'thought' I wouldn't brake for a car in front of me & I slammed into the steering wheel, almost had a heart attack. Needless to say, I had the 'driver assistance' mode deactivated the next day. Never again

right(?)..... and yet there's all this ecstatic hoopla about FSD (FULL SELF DRIVING) cars about to hit the market. Just imagine how many of those will run right into a wall by ITSELF and the driver won't have time to correct it.

I've had two cars since 2001, both bought new. I follow the simple rule of "Will the car payments cost more than the upkeep?" My 2013 Ford Fusion (with heated seats perfect for Midwest winters) still runs great and is paid off. I want nothing to do with electric because when the crap hits the fan you are screwed. As for hybrids, they remind me of the DVD/VCR combos. If one goes piece wrong, they both go wrong.

The prices are still brutal. It's because everyone in 2020-2022 just rushed out and bought whatever, at whatever price. The orgy of spending was ridiculous. Now you've got people who actually do need new cars, but can't really afford them.
