Important Note - I should have made it clearer in the video. The Revell rebox has exactly the same styrene parts. It's only the instructions and decals which are different. So there are differences and the Revell is probably a better kit as a result.
Hi Thomas, good unboxing video, but confused...is this kit exactly the same as the revell one, just literally reboxed? Love the historical backup you provide. 👍👏
It's exactly the same tooling - apparently Revell had boxed it up in the past too but this reboxing is new. Their instructions and decals are much better than Fujimi though.
Thanks for the comparison, Thomas! I've built the '66 winning car, and have the '66 Ken Miles car on the stash. One thing Revell's been hard to fault these days is with their decal sheets, so I'll look for their release of this kit.
Excellent review, one of the best I've seen to be honest. Great comparison with the real thing and it was nice to see parts of the movie Ford vs Ferrari once again. Well done
Thank you Thomas. It looks to be an interesting kit and I look forward to following the build in due course. Strange about the decal situation at the front end: I suspect that it may be difficult to get a precise match for the orange, and there is no guarantee that colours of paint and decal would age in the same way. My feeling is that it would probably be better to go for masking and paint the livery, but I'm sure that your judgment will get a good result anyway.
Many thanks George. Yes, I think I will mask and paint that section. The only difficulty then is to get the black lines for the orange. I may cut out them from the decals.
Hi Sam - wow, yes a long time ago. I am well thanks, I hope you are too (presumably the only Blackburn Rovers fan in Singapore) - I'll check out your channel when I can! Thomas
@@BOABModels I think I am one of a handful out here, there are even a few Rovers fans in Malaysia (where I used to live too). Glad you are keeping well and putting one of your passion projects to good use. Play Up Pompey!
The most detailed Ford GT kit I've found was by IMC. The kit features opening doors, opening front and rear clamshells. a fully detailed engine with three variations, a tube chassis behind the firewall made of individual pieces and stearable front wheels with upper and lower "a" arms. The model is of the prototype version of the GT. The build is more involved than some of the later kits but it all went together with minimal frustration. I don't think it's available any longer, but worth searching for
@@BOABModels The kit is in 1/25 scale. (I kept the instructions and the box flaps.) This scale was the go-to format when the kit was released. IMC issued some fine kits back in the day. There's a note on the box flap that reads "AN ADVANCED KIT...not for beginners"
