Ford has a C8 Z06?

If I had a Z06 in Detroit I would absolutely troll Ford by pulling onto their parking lot and park there. Even if I didn't have a Ford vehicle, I'd make up a reason to go in and do something.

All I read is that Ford was in possession of a Z06. I thought, "why would GM let them have such a car? Then came the explanation of Ford is possibly going to turn the Thunderbird name into something special and exotic. Actually that doesn't really sound right. Then the thought that this was a temporary trade...but what would GM want and would they do that? A new Mustang was suggested. But it doesn't make sense. Anyway, sounds like you have the best thought...someone who has use of a Z06 is visiting a friend at Ford. I'm sure employees at Ford would like a good look at a Z06 as much as we do. This brings up another thought. What did GM learn from the problems Ford had with their flat plane crank engine that they managed to avoid?

I know you exercise your due diligence before making statements or announcements, so if the following is incorrect, I will take the blame: One of the other channels I follow says that ZO6s are either being produced or production will be starting soon. I hope that is correct for those that want to get their ZO6, but it reminds me of a Talk Show Host going on vacation and the Story everyone’s been waiting for comes out and the Host misses out. Hope you don’t miss out on a big story! Also, BOS had a Live Vlog on Tuesday night regarding aftermarket exhausts. I’ve been thinking about going that route, but it seems almost every exhaust system throws the Check Engine Code. That gives me pause to reconsider any aftermarket exhaust. Additionally, consumers need to be aware a lot of the Track Exhausts vs Tour seem to have a “drone sound” making it difficult to enjoy the cruise, taking phone calls and/or listening to the media sources. Fred, There is a great video comparing how well GM engineered the LT6 and the mistakes Ford made with the VooDoo engine. I am sure Ford is well aware of the details of the Z06, but like you said one Z06 leaving a parking lot does not mean much. DCT vs manual, oh no, sparks will fly! The last time I drove a manual was 3 on the column back in 1964, so if you put me behind the wheel of a manual I will guarantee that I will stall out! LOL Enjoy your vacation! Sully

Ford is gonna make a mid-engine Mustang now aren't they? With the Camaro and Challenger being discontinued and the Ford GT being too expensive and limited, will Ford compete with Chevy in the mid-engine arena now?

Chevy rented a ferrari to design the new vette, so it's possible.

Hey Fred, I'm sure Ford is watching the Z06 and every move Chevy is making. But they likely do it with everything from SUV's to Electric cars. Since no Z06s have been delivered there's no chance that Ford has one. As far as the car, let's be honest, the numbers that GM has published, the way it's built, the stance, the already excellent performance of the Stringray, the Z06 will be an amazing car. The question is, how amazing. That's what people need to know. The other thing is that +80% of the people that get these will never drive them close to their potential. And my prediction for next week. you'll end up with 50/50 split of stick shift to DCT. My 2 cents, DCT is faster, more consistent, much more error proof, much better on a track, more impressive to drive and hear, but, until there are no more manual transmissions the discussions will continue. ENJOY the trip.

Don't worry, even if Ford had one it wouldn't do them any good. They'd end up building something uglier, more expensive, and with worse performance. The Corvette is in a league of it's own and everyone knows it. Even cars like the Viper just couldn't keep sales up the way Corvette does.

GM is about to stop making the gas corvette. Ford is'nt following GM's mid engine lead with a new Mustang redesign. The investment versus the return are not there. GM is choking the Corvette to death because all they care about is a quick profit and this new Corvette had come with some very expensive flaws in it. GM went cheap all through the new Corvette's development and the new owners found out where the cheap went into the car by breaking them by just driving them. Ford is well served by it's legacy Mustang platform as well as it's suv EV Mustang ( which is a Mustang in name only).
