The Ford KA was a popular choice of small car in Britain for a couple of decades, but the all-new KA+ is rather different. The plus symbol added to the name reflects this Ford’s move to a larger-sized market segment. It’s no longer a traditional city car and enters the supermini category as a budget-alternative to the Fiesta.
Even with this change though, it shares the original KA’s goal of serving as an affordable and easy-going motor that can appeal to young drivers and family motorists that commute mainly within urban environments. So for those looking for a new small car that’s relatively practical but cheap to buy, the KA+ could attract buyers that might have considered the likes of the MG3 or Dacia Sandero. But does the Ford KA+ come even close to matching the best qualities other, more expensive Fords have to offer?

just bought one recently zetec trim , excellent getting in and out , smooth ride ,quiet enough engine , enough acceleration in traffic, although not especially fast , can keep up with motorway traffic , some body roll on cornering but well controlled , feels confident when driving twisty mountainous roads- good feel in the steering , excellent comfortable seats , high driving position as mini suv, good fast gear change if necessary , feels like a mini ecosport . have been driving 45 years + good wee car.

I'm a new driver and I prefer ka Plus than fiesta. I think fiesta is too big for me. I need a small cute spacious car and I think this is the right one ❤️

Here in South Africa it is called the Figo. It is a great little car. I really like it. I would buy it over the sandero any day of the week. Ford quality is far better than Renault or any of the other French cars.

ford figo was very underrated in India but their new 1.5l disel engine with 100hp n 215nm trq is started to notify itself with its power in such compact and refined form. I am loving it. I live its simplicity and robustness unlike overcute feminine korean cars.

I have a 2019 ka+ many extras heated seats ect built in touch screen google maps making sat nav available.cruise control too many extras to mention. So far so good all round great car. 1200 cc 3 cylinder engine great on fuel.

Ford made a mistake with the second generation Ka, which had none of the charm or style of the original, something reflected in the poor sales figures compared to the first model. Dacia have shown that theres a good market for a more basic, reasonably priced practical vehicle and I think this Ka+ fills that role well. Its plain, but looks better to me than the tall and narrow looking i10 or Viva, or the staid looking 5-door Citigo's etc. From what I read its good to drive, which is important to me, and fills the gap beneath the Fiesta, which Ford are now pushing more upmarket.

I actually liked the styling of the second generation Ka, but at the end of the day it was mostly a Fiat with a Ford badge. It even used a Fiat engine, and it was build alongside the 500 on Fiats factory in Poland. So the two cars really have nothing in common, and in my opinion Ford should have kept the Figo name, when they brought this car to Europe.

Normally, I tend to comment on the car, but couldn't help noticing this guy pushing ripped jeans into middle age. Perhaps if he looked younger, he'd get away with it, but otherwise, no. Good review on the Ford Ka+ though!

Ford should have called it the 'Popular'. Nice nod to the past with the old Popular from 1950s being Ford's cheapest car, but also used as a trim level for basic no-frills Fiestas and Escorts from the 1970s and 1980s.

The first gen car was great fun to drive, basic but fun, and certainly a unique interior. why does a car need to be bigger to be better? If it aint broke, don't fix it. It's a shame the first KA's seam to all be rotting away. Must try harder FORD.

At least it had genuine room for four adults and even 5 over short journeys and was a little more practical, rear spacewise, with a bigger, if not perfect, loadspace which could only be achieved by flipping the rear seat backs down and not the usual sequence of the rear seat squab raised, then rear seat backs folded flat for a totally flat rear load space.

actually I am from india and here it is sold as"ford figo"...and here it also comes with 1.5 liter tdci diesel motor which is very well recieved here..but its petrol counterpart (1.2 lit zetec) is kind of neglected..there are many negetive reviews for petrol varient...like poor low end torque...need to work hard with gears while climbing uphills and fast overtaking maneuvers ...I am a ford fan and very much inclined to buy the petrol varient...but is it realy that bad...please help

harshit tiwari S I own the Petrol version and it definitely lacks low end punch. Top and Med are good.. But the Diesel is a beast!

It is basically a Ford Fiesta. Good comfortable car, spacious for it's size and nice and boxy. Perfectly acceptable engine and power with cheaper insurance. Good colour ranges and adequate boot space

I test drive this car and it's awesome except it's a bit too tall and i was VERY dissapointed about the engine. Seat ibiza it's a lot better in every way.

theres nothing new about this "ka" , its sold as the figo in south africa and india and its just the old fiesta chassis with an even older engine in it and bits leftover from other fords

I think all you need to say about this is that it was made for brazil and india, that should explain enough about it. Same like the ecosport, they're just selling in europe as well hoping to get some extra cash. I mean come on, it just came out here and it still has that 2009 ford interior.

I just don't understand what this car is for. From a short distance, it looks like a Fiesta. It's a tiny bit smaller, but not small enough to count as a city car. It also looks rather bland, and it's pretty slow. You know those record albums that bands made just to fill a contract and were boring? Well this seems like Ford had made some agreement to make another car but had no idea what to do.

This is very dull looking. And at least in some european markets the price is so close to the outgoing Fiesta, that anyone with half a brain will spend 3.000 EUR more and get a Fiesta loaded with equipment rather than a spartanly equipped version of this.

+throw This car was developed by Ford in Brazil, and was designed for developing markets. Its currently being build in Brazil and in India, where its called the Ford Figo. And since Ford makes it already for these markets, they decided to also bring it to Europe. But the problem is, car customers in Europe are way more demanding than those in India or Brazil. I was kind enough to only mention the in-house competition from the Fiesta, but a few tousind euro more could also get you into a Peugeot 208, a Renault Clio, a Seat Ibiza, a Kia Rio, a Hyundai i20, and so on and so forth, which are all significantly more modern and better looking cars. Its not the first time, Ford try to sell brasilian developed or build cars in Europe. They did it with the Escort in the 1980`s, which did not work out well. The cars rusted away. In the 2000`s VW did it with the Fox, which was a cheaper Polo, and this also did not work out well. Which is why, VW replaced the Fox by the european designed and build Up.

Idiot, dont think Brazil or some other country is inferior to ur so called superior Europe, Now regarding which ever country which built it, its the same MK V Fiesta underneath so how is it bad, if that was the case the MK V Fiesta which was a stupendous success across Europe was a shit, Now regarding spending 3000 Euro more, U wont get anything n that Fiesta , more over that Fiesta at +3000 Euro weighs nearly 60 kgs more than the KA+ means with that pathetic 1.25 , the car will barely move, so think twice, This is a great car, its simple old school safe motoring, for some who dosent want all modern complicated systems and just want a car that drives good, is comfortable, can carry 4 in good comfort , has a decent boot, this is an excellent choice along with Dacia Sandero

This Ka+ is just not cheap enough in most of continental Europe. Take the swedish market for example. As an "introduction" price you can get the 85hp version for 113.000 SEK, and thats the one, you want, because the 70 hp model dont even come with aircon. 113.000 SEK is not expensive, but the problem is, over at the swedish Peugeot dealer you can get a 5-door 1,0 liter 208 for 115.000 SEK or essentially the same. Add another 15.000 SEK (1.600 EUR) to that price, and you get the 208 with the 1,2 liter engine and as a campaign model with parking sensors, automatic climate control and even a sunroof. In my book thats just a complete nobrainer.

Agreed, but in a lot of markets its cheap, thats what Ford wants, more importantly, this is a segment Ford havent been playing for nearly 5 years now after the death of that stupid Fiat based Ford KA, so this is just an introductory car, the KA+ will receive more and more updates and will become substantial with time

speaking about my gen 2 ka: interior was lovely ,yes the plastics were cheap , ergonomics were good too , space is average better than a 500 though to which the Ka is a modern design alternative rather than retro ... it has a personnality not like this ugly new box from the third world called Ka+ shit

3rd world, How pompous are you all, See this shows how much internally U guys are biased, See personality aside was it a good car? A car is a machine that must be able to carry its passengers in good comfort and convenience, a bike is a lot better than 1st and 2nd gen KA as it provides way more thrills, better efficiency , and can carry 2 like the KAs not 4 like in KA+ See I drive a Fiesta but that said the new KA+ is excellent car for commuters who often has to carry 2-4 in good comfort without spending much, the KA 1st and 2nd gen are strictly for 2, 3 is a big NO and there is a saying SPACE IS LUXURY thats what KA+ offers in bucket loads , if U want a car with personality buy a used Audi TT or Scirocco or something like that why a stupid KA with inferior plastics and some multi jet engine and some shared platform and yet dosent do anything well other than the so called looks and personality

There is no reason, why a cheap small car cant look good. Ford proved that themselfes, when they replaced the previous completely anonymous Fiesta with the current model in 2008. This one though look like, the designers just did not care and went off to an early lunch. And yes this matter. For sure a brand like Kia have improved their cars technologically in the last decade. But the transformation and growth of the brand would not have been possible, if they had not hired a chief designer from Audi and given them an attractive design as well.

i have nothing against the third world , but the KA+ was aimed to argentina and bresil in the first place , yes the standards for the european market are better but the design oh my god ewwwww this is a very ugly car , it's like a budget fiesta ...KA first gen and second are much much better looking and fun to drive sexy too unlike this stupid unfinished ugly box ... in a word ford launched this car just to sell more and make profits and that's it , and it's up to the stupid people to fulfill the job by buying it ... cars were made with great passion and caracter now they just gadgets to sell more ... by the way my ford ka has the fire engine started from the fiat uno 1983 and it was a revolution back then of course it has been optimised over the years ,it's not sporty but form me it does the job and pretty reliable too , as for the plateform ford twicked the chassis and suspension and the ford drives a lot better than the panda or the 500 talking about handling and confort which i found pretty decent ...and at this price point and for a new car i can't ask for much more , i agree with you only in terms of the plastics used yes...

That is one ugly baby! the Festa and Focus look good but the KA+ looks ridiculous with the same nose stuck on the front, would rather walk or catch a bus.
