Ford Kuga ST-Line X PHEV Review
So, you’re after a family SUV that’s sustainable and future-proof, but you want something a bit sporty that doesn’t make you look like you’ve given up on life? Ford may have what you want, in the shape of the new, third generation Ford Kuga ST-Line PHEV.
Long term viewers may remember I tested the previous gen Kuga ST-Line, and my word has quite a bit changed since then. The new model has a longer wheelbase, and a larger footprint on the road, which should make for better stability. It’s larger too, meaning there’s more space inside.
The new Kuga PHEV makes use of a 2.5 litre petrol engine, which is aided by an electric motor that gains its power from an 14.4 kWh battery. The overall power output is 225hp, meaning 0-62 is dealt with in 9.2 seconds, and the top speed is 125mph.
Fuel economy is more likely to be important as opposed to performance; the fuel economy is over 200mpg, and it emits 32g/km. That means for the first year of VED you'll be required to pay £145. If you're looking to have this as a company car this car has a BIK rating of 11%. Better still, you can drive the Kuga PHEV up to 35 miles on EV alone.
