Hi Richard, thanks for watching. I did mention it but it never made the edit due to wanting to keep the video as short as possible, plus I'd argue it goes without saying. It wasn't just country lanes I drove on, I did some town driving as well although I admit there was minimal traffic so I see where you're coming from.

If you put it in L it boosts the re-gen brake. I managed 46 miles in mine. It's worth mentioning it was in summer in the southeast where I achieved that, several times I might add! That was on my daily commute from Eastbourne to Crawley which is 43 miles each way with a combination of A roads and dual carriageway sat at 60mph. In winter I've managed around 35 but that's doing no more than 60 too.

@@CarObsession I'm actually looking at an older phev: Vauxhall ampera, it's got 35-40mile range.

I think currently the BMW X5 and Mercedes GLE plug ins have some of the biggest batteries and therefore longer ranges. Hefty price increase on a Kuga though!

@@CarObsession So I'm looking at an EV I do 130 miles most days, 35 miles on motorway. Was looking at Corsa e, e208 but want something bit bigger. What would you recommend? MG ZS long range I'm waiting to test drive.

@@CarObsession it's too expensive for the 62kw version. Looking at e2008, ds3, (vw ID3 too long wait)

@@leem5894 Hmm I wouldn't call it expensive; the range is good, you get a 7 year warranty, plenty of kit, decent space and it should be reliable, too.

@@CarObsession i replied too fast, and then noticed you said that. Even though it will power on the petrol engine automatically from time to time to keep the petrol from going stale like I mentioned, I don't think you made a user error, there's an "error" in the programming of the software. If it gives you any kind of warning message like "low sprinkler fluid" and you press OK to make it go away it will simultaneously accept that as a OK to turn on the engine for extra power (always when driving in electrical and you need extra power you can just press OK) then you need to let it run for a couple of minutes and you can then cycle through the modes back to electrical and it will turn off. It's the same button for both and it will enact both commands no matter what, very frustrating so I never press any buttons and just live with the warnings (who needs oil, petrol and sprinkler fluid anyways!) 😂

Recently got one and the modes seem to run in hand with the petrol engine rather than when running EV. For example on the motorway running in petrol and ECO mode, with 0 EV miles, when in crawling traffic the EV would still kick in and run, like a normal hybrid. Also found setting sport mode for up hills and ECO and L mode for downhill is great for regen. Would be good to see more detail around the modes, it seems you have to interact more manually than some people may want to. I think the car is great we filled up on the day we bought the car have done over a 1000 miles and still have quarter of the first tankful.

Care to elaborate?
