The only USA channel who I watch that uses a 5 inch grinder with the guard on. You only need 1 cut off disc to disintergrate and cut you up before thinking, YES a guard IS a good idea..
Give Loctite 545 a try on your fluid fittings. I had a leaky 3000 lb hydraulic fitting on a John Deere tractor 6 years ago that I could not get to stop leaking. I tried Teflon no go. Someone told me about 545, used it and to this very day, it has not leaked one drop. I use it on every fluid fitting on the farm except residential plumbing. Not one single leak on anything ever.Try it you'll like it!
Yelling at Seri, I was die’n ova here.😂 Funny how she’s always listening when you don’t want her to then when you’re stuck under a truck she’s rock’n out not paying attention. 😂
Great job Sam keeping your equipment maintained and up to code takes a tremendous effort and you take it a step further by keeping it clean and looking good Shows you take pride in what you’ve done and own
Firstly, happy Independence Day, to friends and family. Sam, my buddy, back in the 80's turned the cooler sideways, and made up a set of louvers, for one side. The fin side, was towards the transmission about 2 inches below, with the louver openings towards the rear. With a gear pump, run by a modified wiper motor, to circulate the gear oil. Air flow, due to the venturi effect, was all that was needed. This system worked wonderfully in the Canadian Rockies, fully loaded on the long 6 and 7% grades. The temps would stay roughly 10°F above normal.
It's always a pleasure to watch someone else doing the work! I learned that lesson the hard way too -- as soon as you're finished draining the oil, the drain pan gets removed and emptied. Most of our trailers work off the truck hydraulics. On the quad axle float the ramps and lift axles work off the truck hydraulics, but the massive winch (30T from memory) needs an auxiliary power pack. Originally it was all plumbed to work off the little onboard Honda power pack (now removed), but the winch barely moved and the truck hydraulics weren't much faster! The big trailer mounted unit powers it in/out at a decent rate, although we hardly ever use the winch. Better to have it and not need it, than vice versa!
Hey Sam, that truck is really coming together now. Well done, and thanks for sharing. You truly are a Jack-of-All-Trades. And with the work on the tank and the front wheels, I think you've added another division to Scrappy industries: "Scrappy Polishing". The list, according to my records, now stands at: Scrappy Industries Divisions: • Scrappy Heavy Hauling • Scrappy Machining • Scrappy Welding • Scrappy Hydraulics • Scrappy Mobile Crane • Scrappy Marine - The Ski Nautique boat with the Ford 351 engine with a rusty distributor. • Scrappy European Auto Repair - The diesel BMW that accidentally drank some petrol. • Scrappy Scrapping • Scrappy Electric • Scrappy Polishing • Scrappy Landscape Removal • Scrappy Combine Harvesting • Scrappy Video Productions • Scrappy Helps Buddy
Back in the 80’s and early 90’s I worked at a shop that specializes all things tow trucks and as a result I installed lots of PTO’s and Hydraulic pumps. One of the things we did was I make our own mounting bracket/tab instead of that two piece weld together setup was we would tack the two pieces together and then use that as a template to trace our our 1 piece bracket/tab. Additionally we fabbed up a cutout for the PTO that was based off rpm of the engine and a pump cutoff switch based on hydraulic pressure
Sam, that was a fun watch. That Ford is almost too purtty to put it to work. Love how well adjusted to shop noises your dogs are, obviously you trained them well. Reminds me of when my Lab was a puppy, I would bring her into the garage and showed her the noisy equipment and while petting her I would place one of her paws on the running machine, she leaned and never was afraid. Thanks for sharing 👍 - HAPPY 4TH OF JULY TO ALL 🇺🇸
Damn i hate using dump pumps for wet kit application. I do agree on the hate for "scotch locks", those should be illegal. Ford is looking amazing, and your tank mount spacer idea is perfect! Old trucks always need work! Reminds me of the adage of how girlfriends and go-karts are alike. You ride them for a half hour on the weekend and work on them the whole next week.
Absolutely love the channel and the content two of my favorite trucks please don’t stop or change what yer doing especially when you and Matt are each others channels it’s great awsome videos thank you happy 4th
I have a PTO on my ten speed freightliner .Run a vacuum pump with right angle gear box and a Lovejoy coupling. When I engage my PTO. I put clutch down to engage the clutch brake. Also put transmission in gear while flipping the PTO switch put transmission in neutral while letting the clutch out. It seems to grind less that way
Sam i use to get this stuff from wheeling Mack to go under the tank straps don’t know what it was made out of but it would not walk out from under the straps nor would it let the tanks move in the straps
Some Parker stuff has been made at my old workplace here in Sweden. Various kinds of sticks mostly. Manufacturing was moved "elsewhere" some 10 years ago. Mostly to the U.S. I think, but could just as well have been elsewhere...
Tip for young players: careful not to take off down the road with the pump engaged, you can overspeed and cavitate the pump...... leading to a cooked pump and all kinds of bad things.....
I’ve seen you somewhere before, I don’t know your name stranger but your face is familiar, do you always dress in clean attires? Do you happen to know this RU-vidr of the name of Diesel Creek? No, my mistake you couldn’t be the guy, the guy I’m thinking of is always covered in grease. Yet, if the guy I’m thinking about was wearing clean clothing I don’t think I would even recognize him? At any rate, glad to be aboard as a new subscriber.
Nice video Sam in the early 90,s i worked for a car carrying company that ran all Fords L9000,s and a few like your but they all ran series60,s but only base models not as nice as your old girl .if i may make a comparison your like the high Tech Diesel Creek those spacer blocks were killer ,but i enjoy both you guys channels Matt said your channel was worth a look he was right 😊😊😊 Cheers kym Adelaide
Someone in our company got the bright idea to hire a fueling service to fill our crane rigs at night and they filled all the hydronic tanks with diesel.
I run an old truck as well. My low air buzzer doesn’t work either. Worried I’d get popped for it I did a little research and found that: as long as you have a pressure gauge and either a buzzer OR indicator lamp, mucho bueno! Good to go
I'll tell you what makes me laugh, all those years of research and development in the design of heavy hauling trucks, and they still can't leave enough room for the mechanic to work in comfort, it truly baffles me how these designers and engineers can't make room for anyone to work.
Well Sam you are getting an education on this install, and we just had to put our 7 year old Beagle down, she had a tumor on her spleen, if they took her spleen out, she'd only have about another 8-9 months of life, so we decided to put her out of pain and discomfort I'm still missing her. Dave D.
I had so many problems with my rear lights I just bit the bullet and ordered a new factory wiring harness for my rear lights. They get alot of salt and junk from the road.
I have a question if you mount the cooler with the fitting on the bottom will it completely fill the cooler or just just run across the first crossover and back out ?
I used to drag a apron trailer. I always struggled with the wet connections. Later on, I pulled an ag trailer that had a wet kit and it had quick disconnect couplers. I liked those a lot better. Truck looks sweet!
Great work this will be a dry work shop or ur planning to put some heat for the equipment u will be storage in . Thank you for all the hard work and blessings to u and senior plus fam 🙏
