They should call that $19,000 price what it is, "lottery pricing" because there is so many people that did everything they could to get that, and only a handful of people actually did get that price.
XL trim grade is limited to 15% of production. Hybrid is limited to 35%. There are variations to that mix, but yes the truck you see here is the least common variant available.
I have a 2022 XL hybrid, 31,000mi after 22 months. No brake or rattle issues. Haven't checked overall MPG but don't recall many fillups under 40MPG. Paid $22,500, hitch, rear slider, CoPilot 360, no mark up. My 2024 XLT hybrid is scheduled for Nov 20 build. As Henry used to say, "ask a man that owns one".
Thanks for the update Sam! Always my favorite place for maverick content. Videos are always clear and concise, the information seems well researched, and the mods always look great! Get well soon.
I got lucky and scored an xlt maverick at msrp spec exacty how I wanted from someone who backed out. Although i enjoyed the car i ended up trading for a Tacoma because I got tired of all the minor and major headaches that came with this first gen. Every issue brought up in this video applied to me, and my local dealership in Katy,Tx (Ford Autonation) refused to do the software upgrade for the.grabby brakes. Then Ford took over eight months to get back with airbag recall. Then had check engine for heat exchanger for five months with no update in sight. Have had toyotas bought with over 100k miles with less isues in entire lifetime than this brand new truck in one year. No thanks Ford, would rather pay more for gas.
30,000 miles and still not knowing if your motor will or wont blow because of some build defect is enough said. It would be nice to find out if any motor gets recalled and replaced on account of the build defect but I wouldn't hold a breath for one. Please keep the information and updates going on your truck. Thanks.
We're not too worried about it. If it hasn't failed at this point it's not likely going to. It's under warranty none the less. Life is too short to worry about everything.
I have 3 guitar picks placed in various locations in my 2022 hybrid XLT to stop rattling. I strategically placed the picks between panels until I found the culprit. I currently have next to 0 rattles!
Thanks for all the valuable information and insight. I am at 7,000 miles in San Diego and averaging 41.5 mpg (measured at the pump). Only problem was the right rear window switch going out. Plus an intermittent dash rattle.
Excellent update on the Maverick. Looks amazing with the new tires, wheels, and the black accents. 40 mpg is awesome, especially considering the desert heat. Thanks for the B-roll on Central Avenue... made me homesick. Feel better soon, sir! Covid is a biotch!! 😊
Wow, great review! Yes, I did order two of these trucks and the dealer sold them out from underneath of me because I wasn’t willing to pay 5000 over MSRP for my truck. I’m so glad you were able to get one in the beginning. Thanks for all your great reviews Sam.
Watching with COVID too! Hope you made a full recovery! Interesting review! My -22 hybrid XLT at 11k is literally drawing the same MPG and it'd been a fine little truck so far
I love what you have done to the truck now. Those wheels look great on it. I have an early March '23 build hybrid Lariat that had the same dash rattle as yours. I took a piece of clear double sided Gorilla tape about 1" long and stuck it between the speaker grill and the "A" pillar with about 1/8" showing...problem solved. As far as the grabby brakes are concerned, I don't know why Ford doesn't use the programming that's on my truck because the braking is smooth as silk! In fact I have had zero issues with my truck so far (vigorously knocking on wood).
Clearly the best review out there including enthusiast mods that set it apart, are cost effective, and make it a very special truck. More info on performance would be useful. This is a front drive vehicle. so would assume both wheels driven, and it is apparently fine off road...
Great update, Sam!! Well done!!! I love the new styling trim. The wheels, tonneau cover and the front 'FORD' cover looks fantastic! Tastefully done! Fnsweet!!! 👍🏽
My 22 Maverick Lariat Hybrid at 18,000 developed a vibration when acceleration above 35 mph, turned out the cv axles were out of balance and were replaced under warranty.
Get well soon Sam. I'm suffering on Long Covid since 15 month, can't work and can't do a lot. So I am watching a lot of videos 😁 and enjoy yours as well. Greetings from Germany
Another great video, I really like the improvements you have made, it looks sharp. I've had my XLT Hybrid since the end of May, after waiting over 600 days. So far so good, and my combined fuel economy on the first tank was 49 MPG, using mostly Slippery Mode. Second tank was a bit of a drop due to using the truck for work related activities. Glad your truck is holding up and wish the same for mine as well. I look forward to your future updates, best wishes.
Got rid of mine, exhaust rusted badly in 6 moths and was replaced by Ford. Brakes are absolutely terrible at times due to the gabbiness mentioned here. Traded mine in at a profit. Glad to get rid of due to poor build quality.
I just bought a 2023 Maverick XLT which listed for $27K. Dealer selling price was $37K. I got it down to $30K. The prices of these trucks are crazy. The high end units and listing for over $40K. Their not the inexpensive little trucks for 2021!
Hey great concise review on the Maverick! you did a good job framing the owner experience and you’ve always run realistic real world off-road tests. I have a 21 Honda ridgeline and I swapped out the firestone destination tires for BF good rich trail trains, and I couldn’t be happier with them up here in Idaho. They’ve been terrific on uneven forest service roads, rotted, gravel roads, fresh snow, including a couple of 6 inch plus powder days and the road noise compared to the BF good rich KO twos is night and day so that might be a tire you’d want to consider with some other vehicles anyway, I hope you feel better and keep up the great work on the channel.
I really like these Mavericks they're such good value for the money. I liked it before with the cool 70s colorful stripes. I like it even better now it looks like a serious off-road Maverick nice job.
i think the wire/cable issue isnt an "inspection" issue. Im pretty sure if you got the notice they just replace it. They did on my 22 hybrid while it was there for other things. A 'no start" condition is what its listed as, Id say they wanna avoid towing mavericks to dealerships and will just preemptively replace the cable. Thats my two cents.
I found I turned off the automatic brakes the thing that holds the truck when you stop really helped in my maverick but you have to 1 leave it off and 2 give it a day or 2 mine got better with time! Thanks 4 the information.
I am really liking your Maverick, so sharp with the new tires, rims, fender flares.. I seriously am thinking on getting fender flares and some off road style tires, keeping my XLT rims though.. Covid sucks man.. get well soon!
Ford just notified me that my Maverick has been delivered, even though I “canceled” my order and got my deposit back almost 1.5 years ago. I ended up getting a 2022 Tacoma because I gave up on the waiting game. Now I have a tough decision to make 🤔
Great update and I love the way it looks now! When it comes to rattles, I happen to be the same way. I'll use envelopes, cardboard pieces and the like until it stops and then fix it myself. Keep up the good work! Cheers!
Like the wheels and tires you installed, like the "area 51" color and like the roll bars in the bed, maybe the best looking maverick I've seen. Wish I could still get one for 19k.
Hope you feel better 😊. Been waiting since last year for my cactus grey XLT hybrid. Seems if you live in Canada ford doesn't have a high priority to make the Canadian versions.
Why will they not bring this to the UK? So many of those giant rangers everywhere, having one of these would be so much nicer, and we would *kill* to get a truck that does 48mpg UK! That's insane.
Have a Ford Fusion hybrid. The maverick inherited it's drivetrain. I would argue you shouldn't be driving it like a truck, or a regular car. Look up "hypermiling". If you are only getting slightly better than the base engine's mpg rating, you are not utilizing the setup how it was designed to be driven. Entirely possible to hit 60+mpg in city or rural hill/mountain areas. A more simple way to think of it, is that the eletric drive is only there to maintain speed, or accelerate through downhill dips if the battery is full, and of course capitalize on the regen braking.
I have a '24 XLT Hybrid... same color... (no brainer for me) I bought the extended bumper to bumper (including battery) from 3 to 10 year warranty for about $3k and the upgrade from 2 to 8 year tire warranty (including the wheels) for $275.... I found that if you let the truck sit for a second or so, after taking your foot off the break, the "grippy break thing" goes away... seems the more you fight it the worse it gets... I call her Roz (short for Roswell, NM)... Next are the upgraded floor mats (stock ones suck)...
I only got 32500 mile out of my Prius tires. When I went to buy new I found the same tire and it had a 60,000 mile plus warranty. I questioned them about the warranty and they said oh that’s just what they write doesn’t really mean anything I called Goodyear customer service and got 50% off actually 52% off on my next set of tires, the guy at the Tire store said he’d never seen anybody do that before pick up the phone call Customer Service
Michelin is the opposite, totally unhelpful, had “150k-km” tires wear out in 30k-km. They were only going to cover the remaining tread life… which was zero. Edit: compact passenger car with an alignment confirmed in spec. Evenly worn too.
Nice video. I am elderly and getting into the Maverick bed I have to sit on the downed gate swing around then to my knees then stand up. Need a step or platform to increment step onto gate. Think it would make a good video for us weak legged folks to see some accessory item.
I like mine so far but I got 46mpg on the tank of gas from the dealership and like 35 or so every one since. Kinda disappointed. was a big reason I wanted to support the tech. still liking it though.
36.2 on video BUT I see your average is in the 40.1 is good. I have a roof rack a 16 foot kayak to get as low as 36.9 highway. Must have been driving hard to get 36.2 . I think I will also average about 40 which is 70 percent kayak on roof mostly highway. Mine is XLT. ZERO braking issue problem, smooth at low speed. Mine is a 2023. Built July 2023. Mine is still low on mileage maybe it will change . I hope I don't have the brake issue, none now.
Exploding seems really dramatic. Engines don't typically explode. They can smolt and catch fire, but to say it explodes is over the top. Drag cars running at sky high temperatures with high test, yeah. Maybe you'll get a pop because something threw in the engine, but its not going to blow the hood and be like c4.
Great video. I also caught Covid for the first time August 25th. You were one of the first channels I watched who had the Maverick. I see you removed all the colorful decals! I’ve heard so many horror stories of recall after recall.
Recalls aren't by definition a "horror story". They are a way for a manufacturer to correct issues and faults that for most people had never actually become a problem yet. In my case, none of the actual recalls were problematic for me. A visit to the dealership and these things were taken care of, not really a "horror story" at all.
Thanks for the update! Ecoboost is pretty good. My hybrid is not that much better but then again im hauling more now than when i got it and blasting the AC. May have to consider Ecoboost AWD next time around
The LPaventure wheels are actually lighter than the factory wheels they replaced. With the heavier tires they only add 7 lb more per assembly over what was on the vehicle stock. We have a video for that. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6l0_U0WAWrI.html
Great review! You mentioned the Oedro tonneau cover. It looks like a hard tri fold cover, but looking on the Oedro website, I only see soft covers and retracting covers for the Maverick. Can you give me more info about the cover? I like the Keko sport bar and want to find a hard tri fold cover that is compatible with it. Thanks!
I took my maverick to the dealership for the dash rattle and they kept it for a week. They said they replaced an antenna bracket and they added padding. I don't have the rattle anymore but they did keep it a week.
awesome video. I also have a hybrid and i noticed a very high pitched noise coming from the regen brakes or somewhere from the front wheels. It has not been loud enough for me to take it in to the shop for a check up but i was wondering if that is something normal? Ive never owned a hybrid vehicle and i am aware they are supposed to make noises.
I have a 2013 Ford C-Max Hybrid and it has the same brake grabbing issue, I can't believe ford hasn't fixed that issue after over 10 years of making hybrids! So I guess my point would be don't expect any fix soon unless there's a lawsuit/recall. I have 105,000 miles with my original brakes pads and rotors both front and rear, you've used 40% in 35K miles? My original tires lasted 65K miles, you must drive your car hard.
Cool video like the look of your truck i been looking at used ford mavericks of line what would be the best choice to go with the Hybrid or the 2.0 and what would be the best way to talk a car salesperson down on one
