Ok, this is one of those jobs that was bugging me as i like to listen to my tunes when driving. So thought id show how to change the speakers with better ones. The next video is the last mk4 video as the st will be making a come back. As i have already started filming the videos, so stay tuned for those.
Great video! My speakers cracling and poping too. After 10 yr. they are good to be thrown away. There is a set from Focal, IsFord165 , set for both doors, no adapters needed + some Gladen Aero foam + 2mm alubutil. I hope it lasts longer than the cheap original.
Yeah there much better than the stock. Im replacing all the ST220 with Kenwood speakers to match the head unit. Might get some sound dampening stuff for the doors too.
Hello. A Ford Mondeo MK4 2011? MK4 is from 2007 to 2014 and there are several years that ford used the same speakers. My car (titanium) with navigation has an incredibly sharp treble, something you cannot adjust away. What was Ford thinking? The treble sits inside a SHORT tube behind a plastic grille and the sound is reflected and creates a sharp and unpleasant sound. I have the slightly better door speaker with blue plastic and not paper. If you had bought a sound upgrade package from Ford with a bass box, it is still the same door speaker and treble!
Hi Chazz I got a similar upgrade set of Sony speakers for my mk2.5 Focus. These included the rear door tweeters, the wire for which should be in the door loom, great video mate.☺
Hi Chazz cool and informative vid can you tell me whats the brand of the new speakers cuz as i can see its plug n play and im looking for something similar i dont want to mess around with the cables cheers
Hiya Dave, got them from a guy called Stephen he is in most of the car groups on Facebook. I will put a link to one of them in the discription soon. Thanks for watching
@@ChazzCoombes ok great cheers. Got a full set on route, £29.99 - bargain! Do you know if the tweeters are the same between the upgraded blue speaker and paper speaker sets? Also I'm going to put some sound deadening in the doors too, I noticed there's a carpet liner in the doors, is it easy to get behind this do you know?
Just changed the one faulty speaker I had. I changed the rear tweeter too as that was crackling and the new tweeter (out of a titanium x) is clearly different to my old one, it looks much more substantial and the new one weighs 67g Vs the old one at 41g
