Video shows step by step how to replace the door speakers on a Mondeo mk4,this method shows how to install new speakers without the need to buy mounting rings and so saves you around £15 for the adapters.
Car in video is an estate showing the rears door but it's pretty much the same job on all models front & rear.

Hi, i know it's an old video, but do you remember what's the maximal depth you had in the door ? i will try your tips cutting the speaker out of the ring thing, but i fear that the hp i bought would not fit

Hi great vid on replacement speakers I have 2008 mondeo.the speakers all around the car work brilliant but the I plug in the aux in the glovebox so I can play music on my phone the drivers side front and rear speakers make a crackling distortion noise but when I play the radio thro them they are fine no distortion or crackling noise and this only happens on the drivers side front and rear any idea .thanks ...joe

ha mate i have no sound from a after market stereo what was working but when i pulled it out again (no sound ) i have check fuses i am at a loss and have no idear what has gone wrong i have 2008 ford mondeo please help

Thanks very much for this. Factory speaker rubber was perishing which caused a bad rattling. I used 6.5 inch speakers and instead of a hacksaw blade I simply cut the plastic with side cutters. I also kept the original connector and wrapped the new wire around the old terminals at the back without any solder or connector. However I might have got the polarity wrong.😅

Thanks for the video mate! the tweeter identifies positive and negative wires to save time. I also used my grinder to shave down the terminals on the original housing then used connectors on the original terminals to keep the tweeters working

Is there not a crossover splitting the highs and mids/lows, before the speakers? If so, would that not mean that no high frequency signal is going to the coax you just put in?

40w coaxials, they will sound better than the factory fitted junk and ok if your only driving them off the headunit but id blow those in a few mins in my car ha ha

@@newsgetsold No, they are 40w RMS, that Max number is meaningless marketing hype, look again on the video and you can see the 40w marked on the back of the speaker. 40w RMS is a very low rating and only really good for running off a headunit, I have components rated for 150w RMS in my mondeo, the magnets on the back are as big as the cones on the speakers he installs in this video lol.... The same goes for amplifiers, the MAX power they advertise in big writing is total B.S and RMS is the only number worth anything.

@@stevefox3763 Alright thanks. 👍 I just replaced mine today but was thinking they don't sound better than the originals, except that the originals started rattling as the rubber was perishing. I used Pioneer "40W RMS / 300W Peak". I wonder if there was another way to fix the perishing rubber?

@@newsgetsold replacement surrounds can be bought but unless they are very high end speakers its not worth replacing them. Id be very surprised if your surrounds that have failed are rubber, they last a very very long time, its Foam surrounds that perish, I have a set of now retired 25 year old Infinity components with rubber surrounds which are still like new and only changed the units to go bigger on cone size as they are only 5.2". Every speaker sounds different, I changed my rears several times because i was not happy with how they sounded, the cheaper the speaker the more likely it will sound harsh, I settled on Kicker 6x9 components in the end which sound great and I have the tweeters mounted on the door pillar pointing towards the rear screen and the crossovers in the boot with the amps. word of warning on the front doors on the MK3 mondeo, while almost anything will fit in the rear doors, space is limited in the fronts as the window rail gets in the way of speakers with big magnets or deep speaker baskets, you must measure to make sure a speaker your looking at will fit depth wise, you cannot use spacers to move the speaker out further either as the design of the interior door panel prevents it.

@@tomh7461 don't cut the wire just splice into it or leave plug on the old speakers and solder to the back of it and plug the original plug in
