This car is an original and very rare 1968 GT500 ”King of the road” (KR) Shelby convertible.
It was built on the 6th June 1968 and supplied to the “Minar Ford Inc” Ford dealership in Minneapolis on the 23rd June. Not long after this the first owner, a Mr. Karl L. Bliss, also from Minneapolis, took ownership.
After two owners the car was sold on to Sweden and remained in longterm ownership of a collector. A few years ago this collector commissioned a no cost and holds bar rebuild and restoration, in keeping with original spec. This was a complete restoration where every single little detail was attended to and was extensively photographically documented. This particular version as well as the restoration quality elevate this car into the top-class category.
Original finish inside and out, Matching Numbers, everything is original to the spec the car had when it left the factory in 1968. It has the original "Candyapple red” finish, a beautiful black interior trim with “Black Decor Bucket seats” as well as the beast of a 428-4V engine in combination with a C-6 automatic transmission. Furthermore it has factory fitted : Black power-top, GT Equipment, Power steering, Tilt-Away steering Column, Radio, 457.1 rear end ratio etc. All numbering, originality, accessories and version is confirmed by the “MartiAutoWorks Deluxe Report”, the original Shelby Automotive order form, Shelby order instruction and the original first owner’s booklet.
