I'm actually surprised the RS did this well on a drag against a car with 100 more hp. That RS is incredible. I would love to see the RS at a stage 3 upgrade. On a circuit track that GT would not have a chance.

When you see “Top Gear”, you get excited, but then you don’t see Clarkson, Hammond, or Mr.Slowly, and then you remember... 😖😢😭

Now to be nitpicky, the UK version of the GT loss a bit of oomph compared to its US counterpart due to the exhaust being rerouted to make room for the steering column in the now right-hand drive setup. It's a small kink and not a massive drop in power but enough to make mention of it. That said the RS is still a rip roaring fun car and both cars have strengths in different areas of motorsport

That was a really close race. It takes more skill to launch a rwd car no doubt.

The rs is the winner for practicality. Acceleration on everyday roads beats slow start high speed.

Test drove a Focus RS today (will likely buy it). At a red light a corvette pealed out as soon as it changed to green. I wan't expecting a drag race; the noise of the corvette startled me to the point that I stalled. The salesperson and I laughed our butts off. I guess it comes with the territory of owning such a car.

Mustang won, that, or you could do it twice switching drivers and cars for a slightly better analysis

for one... forget all your exact 0-60. They really don't apply to the real world. Soo many variables. It looks as though the RS could probably spank most any regular performance car at a stop light. Great car, look forward to owning one.

I have a very modified 2016 GTPP but I still love the Focus RS to death.

They should do this race with a Focus RS that has all of Mountune’s aftermarket performance parts vs a 2022 Mustang

The Focus is champ where it counts, everyday driving! In a race across town you would have enough time to drink your coffee at the finish before the Mustang rolled up!

I love the really deep, ominous music that plays during the duration of the video. It just makes the whole video seem kind of eerie and out of place. It's hilarious. Like, the music betrays the forced laughter on the screen.

Considering the overall cost of running the mustang compared to the focus the only real advantage has is that lovely sound of the V8

I am surprised that these cars are so close in performance. I guess for an older guy like me having 4 doors and a fast car is still an option for under 40,000.

That 5.0 will start adding big hp numbers over the focus. Add a super charger and it’s game over. The mustang has a higher ceiling in regards to speed and power.

In the states we had factory 99 to 04 GT's that, when launched properly, would hit 60 in the low 5's all day

You have to ask yourself, could a heaver car with way more hp keep up with an RS in an in city chase/race with lots of very sharp turns.

That's a mile above sea level... Go at sea level and the mustang would win by a lot more

The Focus RS isn't a dragster, it is pretty much a Rally Car with a 4 cylinder. I've had 3 Mustangs in the last 43 years and wouldn't want to race the Focus RS if too many "curves" were involved. I was actually happy the Focus did so good in a "Drag Race". I'll still stick with my MOPAR's and BMW's, even though I did love my Mustangs at the time I had them.

Hammond and clarkson has a go with the mustang and the focus and I’ve noticed that the focus gets the great start leaving the mustang behind at the start but down the straight the mustang catches up and beats the focus to the line

My 15 v6 mustang can do 0-60 in 5.7 seconds..... not the best launch for the gt

Focus RS is anything but a drag car. One of the ultimate B-road, autocross, track, drift, or tuner cars out there. Glad to see it still does well at the drag strip though. Every RS really should be tested with the Stage 1 tune that doesn't break Ford warranty though.

...I love how Europeans, Specifically the english, ALWAYS get the absolute worst times of any acceleration measure in an American car, 5.3 0-60, 11.8s 0-100, 13.3 in the 1/4? And dont give me tat oh these guys are journalists they dont know how to drive bs, These guys review cars for a living, And have the cars for multiple days and do multiple shots and launches. 5.3s? Thats literally a full second off the average 0-60 time everywhere else gets, 11.8s? that is a full TWO seconds off the fastest time, 2, 13.3? Ive only seen a single 13s 1/4, And that was 13.0s flat, And if you look at any other video where they show the acceleration times of cars, Wether its a manual or Rwd or not, There damn near on par to what everyone else is getting. Sorry but this is just bs.
