Before you tighten everything down, be sure to turn the motor two full revolutions with a socket on the crank and double-check your marks. Sometimes the tensioner will cause them to be off one or two teeth.
Just watched your video . Just wanted to tell you outstanding job sir I'm a electrician by trade but try to do all my own work on my vehicles to but sometimes like with this timing belt I needed some advice your video did just that thank you sir please keep posting them I may need you again one day
@@travismaxwell7132 even thou we seen cam move what u didn’t notice is crank move at same time. The cam gear isnt locked in so so they will move once tensioner is released Turning engine by hand two full revolutions would have shown timing marks line up. Just did this yesterday on a ranger im working and just like video my cam-moved slightly but when i did two revolutions all marks were dead on.
What u do is turn motor by hand two full revolutions and check timing marks. When i did mine using this same method cam also moved but after turning by hand two full revolutions all marks were dead on. If marks don’t line up then u would need to reline timing marks again etc
Please tell me if your oil pump had any resistance in it when turning by hand. Mine does about half a free turn half resistance. Thanks man Update, it's enough resistance to have to use a wrench to turn it on around the other half turn. Thank you guys my friend
Just think, still using such primitive very primitive technology on modern cars. And they still want to charge you at the dealership a fortune. Maybe, next time we go out to buy a car, we should bring up the prehistoric technology that sits in that $65,000 vehicle.
Where they put the timing mark on the camshaft has got to be the stupidest place to put the timing mark ever in the history of vehicles you can't see the damn thing when your trying to put the belt back on so when you put the belt on you end up putting it on wrong by 1 notch one single notch and you have to take everything back off DUMBEST DESIGN EVER HELL I EVEN PUT MY OWN NOTCH ON IT AT THE 10 O'CLOCK AREA WHERE IT'S VERY EASY TO SEE
why do they all have such poor camera work wobbling around when we need a good photo hose or something is in the waywith a split second of the timing marks
