The Ford Ranger has become part of the pickup aristocracy, alongside the likes of the Toyota Hilux, Nissan Navara and Volkswagen Amarok. The latest version is available with a choice of two engines, two gearboxes, two- or four-wheel drive and three bodystyles. Although it's a commercial vehicle at heart, higher-spec models make cases for themselves as everyday passenger cars, even if a conventional SUV will be more comfortable and practical.
