Ford Remote Start Shutdown Upon Entry Fix 

Just bought and installed a FORD remote start for moms 2014 Escape. Everything went together perfect. Had that "safety" crap, found your video and corrected it. Works perfect now. Thanks for the vid!

Easy directions to follow. i watched your video, then let it guide me through one more time. Now it works just like you described it would. I brought it to Ford and they told me it wasn't their product (it says Ford on the FOB) and refused to help. I have had my truck two years and finally have it figured out. Thank you so much!!!

I just followed the steps in this video on a 2014 Ford Expedition and it worked! This also fixed the issue of remote start not wanting to work after installing LED interior lights.

I went around with my local Ford dealership because this was happening with my 2014 Ford Fiesta... And they told me it was impossible to fix. Your video fixed it... Your awesome!

You always have the perfect videos for any Ford situation. I installed the remote start on my 2010 Milan and it doesn't do this, but my mom's Expedition does. I'll have to send her this video. I didn't bother installing the hood switch -- don't trust drilling holes in Wisconsin and it's a fail-unsafe design anyway. System works even if the switch isn't connected. Dumb that Ford lets you buy the kit but the installation instructions are damn near impossible to find. And if they're going to go through the extra manufacturing/tooling steps of having excess loops of wire under green tape, why not spend the extra 10¢ on just having a molex connector ready-to-go under the dash?

Love your videos! Question- I want to disable this auto off feature on my 2012 fusion (bi-directional starter) but there is no switch or light! Instead, I have a box that says it’s part of this system. The box has a harness attached to it, so I’m not sure if mine has this setup. Can you help me find the program mode?? Got the older 2-way installed in 2014/15ish

Absolutely amazing! As soon as I watched this video I tried it in my 2016 Ford Fiesta. Took me a minute to find the module. As soon as I did it worked like a charm and exactly as described. Thank you so much. I was getting ready to have a local electronics place install the Viper Remote Start system in my car because I've had it in the past and loved it. This made the factory remote start manageable. Now I need to experiment with range to see if I still need the upgrade. For now this is perfect!

Will this work for a 2018 ford transit? I don’t mind the 1 honk to let me know it’s on but when I go to open the door it turns off and I have to use the key to restart the van which is very irritating. My other vehicles I can remote start and just jump in and put the key in and go. If I miss a step will i have to reprogram the whole thing? any chance of messing up any other systems? Your advice and help is greatly appreciated

FYI I just installed a bidirectional unit in my car that was dated 1/20/16. It does not have the shutdown problem, and it also does not have an option 7 in bank 2 (only goes to 6). So it appears the shudown feature has been removed in the newest produced units.

I have a 2011 F150 Lariat 3.5 Ecoboost that has this exact problem when trying to program a new key. All things remote work, including remote start. However when I put the new key in the ignition and into the "ON" position, the engine dies. The original keys continue to work normally, but the new key kills the engine. I can remote start, and then switch to an original key in the ignition and all is good. I searched under the dash, but could not find the reset button. Is that present on the 2011? Great videos!!

I followed the instructions per the video without fail. Thing is that when I start using the brake pedal to cycle through to option 7, on the 5th depression of the brake pedal instead of the horn honking 5 times it honks 6 times and on the 6th depression it blows 7 times instead of 6. So it is to say that the LED does not turn off. Is this a system protection for the disabling of the security system?

Mr. Ford Tech I have this weird box in my 2009 Ford fusion. It's tapped into a single wire behind the ODB2 and ground. Was wondering if you could help me identify it only has writing "this side down"

Hey man. So I have a 2011 Ford Taurus Limited. I know my way around working on vehicles and I followed your instructions to the tee. When I get to option bank five and attempt to press the brake pedal I get no feedback. Like my brake pedal is not the correct input or something. I've tried everything. Any ideas?

planning on attempting this on my 2014 Lincoln Nav. when it's warmer than 0 degrees. It has the same looking remote starter and most of the components are Ford. Any reason you think it won't work with Lincoln? I looked quickly for the remote reboot button with no luck would it be somewhere else?

Awesome. I just bought a 2010 expedition Limited and this has been annoying me considerably just in a couple days that I’ve owned it.

To sort of springboard off of this, how do you program the remote start when it's an intelligent access key? I had to move my remote start unit to change the cabin air filter, now the car will not remote start, with the error message "Ford Keyfree not detected" on the IPC panel and the alarm starts going off. Does work when the key is in the car. Couldn't find any documentation regarding this problem.

I have a 2014 Expedition with a AL2J-19G367-AA remote start. I was having the issue in this video. I tried the setup you described, but I managed to break the remote start. I verified the doors and hood are closed. I pressed the remote start, one honk, no theft alarm, everything turns on in the vehicle, and the horn honks 4 times, but no start. Can you help me or guide me to a manual for this model system. Thanks Randy

This is a great feature!! The other morning I had my MKZ warming up when a drug addict tried to steal my car while I was on the far end of my home. She moved not even an inch. As soon as she touched the brake. Nothing. I promptly called the police from there. The system will protect your car from being stolen in remote start mode!!!!!!

I am having wierd issue where my 2003 explorer drivers side door lock don't work inless I have the key in start or vehicle runing mode. I think it has something to do with the remote start system. Even then door lock code outside don't work inless the vehicle is running or run position.

Hey I like the fix but I have a different situation. My 2012 Taurus is a push button start, so what is the process if I cannot turn the key to run without starting the car?

I cant get my car into program mode. I have push to start and I've tried with/without the brake pedal and in accessory/power modes. All of the manuals say to hold the brake and turn the key but thats what starts my engine? I got it once but had trouble cycling through the menu with the brake pedal.

Can you tell me how to turn the horn off during remote start? The neighbors don't appreciate hearing it at 2:00 a.m. 2012 Focus. Thank you!!

I have a 2014 escape with a push button start also factory installed remote start the problem is similar but it just runs for approximately 30 seconds and dies out when it dies out a red blinking light activates between the fuel and temp gauge Any thoughts?

FYI I was not able to perform this on my 2010 fusion with an add on oem remote start ie single button fob; after performing this procedure my car would sound horn 4X to indicate programming was incomplete. This was verfied by 800 Ford key service line.

I have the same issue but with only 1 of the 2 keys I have(2011 F-150) The problem key starts the truck remotely and when you put the key in, it dies. Started 2 months ago(bought it in Aug/18) Now when you put the key in the horn starts blowing until I hit the panic button. Change of battery did not help.
