It was permitted by the regulations. An engine from any other Ford was allowed. In Australia the Ford Mustang and Sierra Cosworth/RS500 were used - neither officially on sale in the country, but that didn't matter. It only needed the correct paperwork from the FIA. Search for rules using your preferred browser.

Reported to be 320bhp, 1185kgs. Speed depended on gearing. At the old BRNO road circuit in Czechoslovakia 1986, Steve soper was clocked at 176mph in an Eggenberger car. Details of this can be seen elsewhere on RU-vid. Rouse may well have been close to this at times on the wide open and very fast Silverstone circuit.
outstanding video thank you..im a massive btcc fan and was sooooo happy to find 1985 footage...its soo rare to find and 8mins of it in a vid...wow....brillaint briilliant..uve made me very happy to see this...great racing and its nice to not see 90's races ive seen on video 20million times.....now a question....have u any other footage from the 80's...ii have the vids and the dvd copy of the 1987 season....seeing as u have this vid..u must have some rariteies in your collection .....thank you :)

Sorry, I have no idea about the tune. I've not heard it anywhere else - but if anyone knows Neville Hay of Hay Fisher, he might have the answer. Similar music appears on many of his mid 80's motor sport stuff, and this promo looks like his work.
