Real Truck Guys here and we're out in Southern Utah demoing a FX4 and a Tremor Superduty. What's the difference and should you spend the money on a FX4 or Tremor over a base 4x4? staytuned and you'll find out!
My 22 f350 crew cab long bed fx4 with a front load axle spring 5,990 and a tremor air dam Bilstein 5100 and 35” is the best I can achieve realistically
The rear ball hitch tow rating drops by over 6000 lbs when ordering a Tremor. If you had a FX4 and it did everything you needed it to do stick with it, especially for the money. Tremor is very expensive and the decrease in ball hitch is curious.
The softer springs on the Tremor cost you over 6000 pounds conventional towing capacity according to Ford towing guide though and you cannot get a plow package, for those of us in snow country, with the Tremor. FX4 has always worked for me and the price of the Tremor with those loses is not worth it.
I got the FX4 and I'm really happy with it. Yes, I could level it, install 34s, yank off the air dam and install the Tremor front skid plate and massively improve my offroading. But no, still wouldn't get to Tremor-level articulation. But what the Tremor (which has NO max tow pckg option) can't do is tow 13,900 lbs like my truck can. 3k LESS is the most a Tremor - WITH the tow pckg - can do. The Raptor, btw, is a towing wimp at only 8,200 lbs. So what do you want your truck to be able to do? The ONLY 1/2 ton that tows more than my truck is the RWD version which only tows 100 lbs more. I Iove my FX4's blend of capabilities. Especially given the fact that 1) I don't want my baby dinged up and 2) I like a clean truck. I demanded 4x4 more for hazardous road conditions rather than serious off-roading. It's all about trade-offs. As a PS, at least on the more "base" model Tremor, the tire size is 275/70r18, which is a 33" tire, not 35". My FX4 comes w/ 32s.
I got the FX4 as well because I wanted more towing capability. My F350 Lariat came with 275/65/R20 which I think is a 34 inch tire. It had the sport and black packages which I believe gave me the wheel/tire upgrade. Maybe it was the Ultimate package that was the upgrade. I'm not sure. I wouldn't say the Tremor is a serious off road vehicle. Maybe a bit more capable, but not much more than our non tremor packages. Just my opinion. Congrats on your truck. I bought mine a few days ago. The video really didn't make any real comparisons other than the commentators saying they prefer the Tremor because of it's stance and look. I would have liked to see the two trucks going over rough road to see the difference. I understand with a loaner truck they probably couldn't do that.
I have a 2024 F350 SRW 6.7HO Platnium Tremor my payload is 3,868, GVWR 12,000 and Gooseneck capacity of 22,000, I am unsure of the conventional capacity. Are you sure that the Tremor takes a hit in tow capacity? Maybe it’s the F250’s?
Fx4 already has a rear locker. Carli leveling kit some 37s and the tremor valance will get you anywhere the tremor can go and then some. It’s what i did to mine.
