It’s the difference in static friction and dynamic friction, spinning tires grip the pavement worse than stationary tires that aren’t slipping, so once the GMC started spinning it was game over
Before I say anything, I'm going to preface this by saying I just bought a '17 F-150 Platinum, and I love it. However, this test was more about traction than which truck is better.
@@marvingoodwin1 which truck brand is the best - I’ve heard every guy in the world tell me which one but I think they all have their good qualities and they’re all junk too .
I'm a Ford guy and I would never buy a GMC or any GM product. But the Ford bumper was higher than the GMC bumper, so when the GMC pulls, he increases the traction of the Ford while reducing his own.
@@aemailaccount5108 grip is a better term, either way this does not fully demonstrate what actually offers better towing capacity. If your wheels are spinning ita not power, its grip and grip is affected by the wheels and the amount of weight on the wheels. So no its bot fully accurate. Im not a big truck person, im american sport car and id go with a 90s-2ks 3\4 ton ford triton v10.
@@andrewgarcia9805 fords literally have the worst rear axles in the truck game. And a rearend being better doesn't make a truck win. Gearing does. And most trucks on the road have the same gearing. 373 is the most common. Ford 9 in is good. But that was yeearrrsss ago
I dont know why people are complaining about "traction is what matters, bla bla blah", both trucks are completely stock, both brands make different tires, obviously ford makes a better trans and tires, but if the gmc had tunes it most likely would've won, but thats not what this is about, its about two totally stock trucks going up against each other and the ford won.
People are so dumb. Brands don't win these thing, engines specs don't win these things. You can have 11000ft/lbs of torque and it won't matter if the tires don't grip. It's pretty obvious the f150 tires caught on right as the GMC tire started to spin.
@@haydenanderson8274 you mean shitboxes that leak oil and dont work because there luxury cars lifted with fake wheels that cant do shit and arent even luxry i just went into morr detail or ram/dodge
@@joemedina1020 you just embarrsed yourself that shows you no nothing about trucks tug of war doesnt mean anything but traction and they both had aftermakrekt tires plus i have seen a toyota 4 runner beat a 2500 hd druamax gmc in a tug of war so maybe next time you comment think about what your saying because know everyone knows your an idiot
@@abefriesen6497 I hooked up with my chevy to a ford just like that and the outcome was opposite of the video. Tug of wars dont jurastic the capability of either trucks. There is alot more physics and a multitude of parameters that go into a tug of war that are unique to each and every one
As soon as I saw the gmc wheels start to spin I knew exactly who was gonna win. If the wheels are spinnin it's dead weight at that point. Hints why he was still able to pull him in the dirt. For example it doesn't matter how much power you make you're still gonna slide on ice, plain and simple. What would be cool is hooking up both drive lines directly (engine and trans) to see who holds.
@@stevenbingham7874 that's only 5 of the many millions of ford vehicles your talking behalf on... Ford definitely has their stupid issues too, no doubt about that..
Nice, usually in these things they have a F250 hooked to an S10 or a 2500 hooked to an F150 but this was super similar set ups. I am guessing it was pretty much just a better tire, maybe even from the factory. Even the cable was pretty level, might have been a crotch hair higher on one end.
Depende el peso de la troca también tiene que ver mucho en eso yo tengo ford me gusta mucho y también tengo chebrolett y Nissan Toyota son mis favoritos 👍
Finally, not a dumb video where somebody with a Duramax takes on the base level F150 and goes "wow Chevy is so much better look how powerful this engine is".
J Esp what he means is that the video was a fair tug of war, It wasn’t like a normal Ford F-150 vs a chevy duly. Your comment makes you look detarded 🤦♂️
The reason this happend is because ford has a lower gear ratio along with wider rear tires this isn't a very well Comparison if you want to make it even get the same tire with along with the same gear box otherwise there's no point on doing that
Yes, all these videos are ridiculous. Assuming they’re both 4x4 with a locking diff, all that matters is weight and tires. It’s simple physics. They’re not proving anything except that one truck is lighter and/or has less tire surface area than the other.
Sold thousands of trucks. Truck dealer for 30 years. Spent more on Chevrolet repairs than Ford and Dodge combined. My mechanic once told me if I would stop buying G.M. products that I might make.some money! I DRIVE A FORD.
Can we all agree that hooking chains is pointless and proves nothing.... idk how many times I did this as a teen but way too many things come into factor here. It is kinda fun tho
Always ford win the differential transmision better ratio for pull and little bite more heavy vs chevy relation for speed and more light weight i love both brands
I'm a Ford lover and I have nothing against Chevy trucks because it depends on how you take care of it I like you Chevy guys when you start making fun of Ford that's why I get mad I just want to be friends with Chevy guys but they hate me
