I've done insurance claims for 25 years. I have looked at hundreds of Dodge/RAM'S, Ford's, and Chev/GMC. When it comes to HD diesels, I have easily inspected twice as many Dodge /RAMs with over 500k miles than I have Ford and Chev/GMC combined. The other diesels simply do not go as many miles as the Cummins. I am giving you an unbiased opinion. I like all the trucks. They each have their own strengths and weaknesses when it comes to maintenance. But, if you are going to crush miles on an HD put your money on the RAM.
@CoyoteFTW
@CoyoteFTW 2 года назад
Makes sense since Cummins outsources their Diesel engines. Too bad they don’t build transmissions for rams too. I gave them a try and the truck was in the shop three times before hitting 50k sold it ended up buying 2017 F350 6.7 powerstroke don’t regret it one bit. Engine has no idea what the name on the valve covers or intake. Treat your things right they will last sometimes they come out defective. That’s what insurance is for.

I really like these types of reviews. In a lot of ways, it's better doing them like this is than in your studio. Them seem to be more comfortable doing the review on their own instead of answering canned questions from you. They have the opportunity to cover the review by highlighting what is most important to them. Each of these reviewers has their reason for owning their particular truck. On RU-vid most of the time you have a fan boy review their own truck but not here. They each highlighted the pluses and natives of each truck and the reason they purchased their truck.

Before I retired I worked for a company that drove Dodge 3500 dually's. Their 2007 had over a million miles on the original engine and transmission. It was used for local driving only after 600000 miles because it decided to stop after a 400 mile run. After an hour shut down, it Was good for another 300 miles. Its normal load Was 3 boat trailers on top and 6 boat trailers behind. It was equipped with a Cumins and automatic transmission. It went thru a new reared about every 300,000 miles on it. It delivered trailers allover the US and Canada from Tennessee. This truck replaced a Ford 550 2006 super duty which constantly broke down. Both trucks were equipped with sleepers and extra fuel tanks.

Fastlane, reach out to RV haulers. There are Ford SD, and Dodge with million plus miles. Zillion of them between 350k-750k miles. 150k-200k is just getting broken in. :). Most will get 500k on motor, 200k-400k on transmission before partial rebuild. Depends as always on doing power boosting mods, care in use, and maintenance.
@resharddurdley6987
@resharddurdley6987 4 года назад
Absolutely concur. There is ABSOLUTELY NO QUESTION that Ford SD and Ram Cummins are kings in longevity. I worked in hotshot for years and have seen hundreds of Ford SD and Ram cummins with over 300k plus miles. Probably 70% of hotshot tow trucks are Ford powerstroke or Ram Cummins. They pull like freight trains and last. We ran 3 6.7 powerstrokes and 4 Ram cummins...dam good trucks. I would give slight edge to Ford in quality, especially the transmission

Our fleet manager has a thing for GM, we buy a new Silverado 3500 every 2-3 years (350k ish miles) because the engine, transmission, and interior are all completely worn out. I've heard that the 6.7 is the "new 7.3" when it comes to reliability, there were some teething issues early on but by late 2012 on they're very solid. And it's hard to go wrong with any Cummins engine.

The LED ones optionally use shadow technology to selectively dip only where necessary to avoid dazzling oncoming drivers and traffic in front of the car. Pretty amazing technology. Worse halogen lights I currently own are on the Nissan Qashqai. They are like yellow candles. Replaced the original with more white light bulbs but they don't last long.

Hello guys! I always enjoy watching TFL videos here from San Antonio, Texas and I would like to share my experiences with my GM Vortec 8100 Big Blocks. I have 3 with the 3 different transmissions they were offered in and they are just some bullet proof beasts! The one with the least miles is my 01 2500 4wd Yukon Xl with under 300k miles which has the 4l80E transmission. My other one is a 01 GMC 3500 4wd Sierra extended cab dually with right over 300k miles and that one has the 6spd manual transmission. My all time daily driver is a 2002 GMC Sierra 3500 manual floor shifter 4wd extended cab dually with the Allison 5spd Automatic and I'm under 800K miles on this one. The only biggest part I've replace on all 3 is the transfercases. Other than that, all drivetrain is all original. These 8100's might not be the fastest or strongest now but man will they pull without giving up and they are just the most reliable engines in my experience for my needs. More than half the miles on my 02 have been towing and Im hoping to get to 1 million miles with it in a few years. I really wish GM still offered this engine or at least a Big Block again in their HD trucks. Well, you guys have a great one and stay safe!🤠

Sucks but it’s true.
