It's encouraging to hear that most tourists have a favourable opinion of this country. Malaysia's population is made up of members of the three primary ethnic groups that distinguish Malaysia from all of its neighbours, with the exception of Singapore: Malay, Chinese, and Indians. This makes Malaysia stand apart from other countries in Southeast Asia. In Bangkok, Jakarta, or Manila, you might still run into some local Chinese or Indians, but they've all blended in so well that it's hard to tell them apart from natives. On the other hand, all Malaysian ethnic communities are free to practise their own religions, speak their native tongues, and preserve their unique cultural customs here. There is a China Town nearby so you don't need to travel to China to get a taste of the country. Little India is here too, so you don't even need to travel to India. Therefore, if you don't have much time to see all of Asia, come visit Malaysia because Malaysia is truly Asia.

I guess the tourists may think Kampung Baru is a slum..but it's a village and the value of the land owned by the villagers is mind blowing but most of them chose not to sell the land. Most non greedy Malaysians also wish the Kampong Baru will be kept as it is with proper maintenance as Kampung Morten in Melaka.
Yeah.. Homeowners there do not agree with compensation payments, and land prices that are not commensurate with what is offered by the government that wants to upgrade the area ..We have to maintain the legacy of the authenticity of Malay culture in Kuala Lumpur in the Kampung Baru like in the morten kampung of Melaka.. make it modern classic and have recognition..
As a Malaysian, it is better to keep Kampung Baru as it is. This is our culture heritage. What is the point of building high rise? I miss the old kampung houses which you cannot see nowadays.
Why the government or those developer can't see this point. I was around that area during early 90s era, Tan Sri Rais Yatim was with the Ministry of Heritage, he requested those developer or DBKl or who bought the old buildings to built new office bldg or shops to preserved the facade of the building in order to preserve the looks. So it's good move right? So why not they just upgrade the Kampung Baru, give new Kampung vibes.
Please visit Sabah as well, many tourists come to Sabah every year and the number is increasing but sadly I don't think the authorities are doing enough to maintain the cleanliness part of the KK city.
For ur info, most Malaysians people doesn't go outside during the hot day.. They will go out for a walk in the evening when it is not that hot.. The evening weather is dim and windy.. if they go out during the hot day they prefer to go to the shopping mall because they will walk inside the mall at that time because it is cooler because there is an air conditioner inside
One sentence to discuss Malaysia. "You will never get shot, unlike other countries." Also, the guy who said it is imbalance, most of the beggars you saw on the street, they are NOT Malaysian but foreigners from Burma. They came and they stay forever without any passport.
Malaysian people are heavily mixed because this region have been receiving mass migration since 11th century and its located strategically in the middle

The Malays in Malaysia demonstrate remarkable tolerance towards other races. This was evident when the Federation of Malaya gained independence from the British in 1957, as the Malay community welcomed immigrants from China and India to share the country. However, this inclusivity was balanced with special privileges for Malay residents, which were agreed upon and intended to be upheld as long as supported by the Malay population. This arrangement does not infringe upon human rights; rather, it represents a mutually agreed-upon pact. The fairness of this agreement is underscored by the fact that the British granted independence to Malaya in 1957. Therefore, allegations of the Malays being a racist nation or claims of racial discrimination in Malaysia should cease. Instead, recognize the fortunate opportunity your grandparents had in being granted the privilege to reside in this blessed land indefinitely.
At least most of the Bangladeshi come to Malaysia with the permit. Unlike some Indonesians that come to Malaysia as immigrants since decades and didn't realize that Indonesians in Malaysia reach up to 1million people Using Malaysian's subsidy and so on.
