Beauty is on the eye of the beholder kasi Filipinos acquired beauty in different races. Walang tunay na Filipino blood. All of us are mixed blood from Malay races, spanish, japanese, Indian, chinese, european, american, etc. Mahalaga marunong ka magdala sa iyong sarili at mabuti ang iyong puso at kalooban. No big deal unless you counter such rude attitude or bullies

It's Filipino culture, some superficial, others are deep in assessing a person outside appearance To deep minds people, they are more on good values within, not visible to the eyes regardless of color, race, status in the society. Don't be offended to those who were interviewed about the color. It's culture thing.

while trends may have contributed to popularizing filipinos to prefer whiter skin, the main reason comes from social status. this reason resonates not only with the Philippines but with most asian countries with the same beauty standard. this is because those who are wealthier would have lighter skin color since they're staying inside their houses while those who are tan are usually those that stay outside to work (e.g. farmers). it is a frustrating mindset that still exists but luckily, it is gradually decreasing as filipinos continue to realize the value of accepting our filipino identity

Initially, we cannot deny the human instinct of appreciating physical features of what we like or what we are attracted to. The usual perceptive are actually evolving now. However, Filipino characters deeply rooted in a family oriented culture, camaraderie and being hospitable, and sentimental/emotional(generally speaking).... So we have a high regard to the personality, values and desirable attitude of a person (someone we consider that our family will love too and can get along with) ❣️

Colorism in the Philippines is prevalent but complex in that its shaped by classism (if you're dark, you are a laborer who works under the sun) that has been superimposed by racism (the preferential treatment of the mestizaje by Spanish and American colonialism), resulting in tanner tones that are common in all Austronesians to be seen as inferior. Fortunately, this taught self-hatred has lessened, and with the exposure to many kinds of people from everywhere, this kind of colorism has broken down in significant ways.

I grew up in the Philippines having skin whitening products being highlighted in tvcs. I was caught in that hype until I lived in Hawai'i USA years later where skin whitening products are like aliens to them. The tanner your skin is, the more beautiful you are. I now have a daughter who is a Filipino American and almost to her teens. I have been teaching her that beauty is beyond skin deep. It's not about the color of your skin, your height, weight, facial features...it's what you are inside you, your character, that matters all the time. Kindness and confidence go a long way and make you beautiful no matter who you are. Aloha 🌈🌺🤙🏻🙏🏻

In response to your previous video, I made a comment about the inherent nature of humans. It seems that people often desire what they don't possess, such as Westerners seeking a tan while those with brown skin desire a fair complexion. This tendency is a reflection of our humanity. However, as a Christian, I believe that having a strong connection with God allows us to transcend these superficial concerns, as we understand our true worth in His eyes.

Well, media and celebrities can affect the Pilipino’s perception of physical beauty. And these come from both local and outside of the country. Before the existence of the internet, the media (meaning music, films, TV ads) are mostly from the US where images of what’s beautiful were white, tall, pointed noses, high cheekbones. Local celebrities then emulated that standard. And it seems it hasn’t changed even today. But I’m seeing a variety because now Filipinos include Asian women with smooth skin and white complexion as part of that beauty standard list. Hence, we got a proliferation of Korean beauty products. Plastic surgeries have not taken hold of the general populace except for celebrities and well to do. But they’re still obsessed with whitening products. Again because of what they see on TV and social media. And perhaps because of the notion that white complexion will give them more economic advantage. But even when that’s what most think what physical beauty is, Filipinos retain a sense of reality about their physical appearances. If they can’t achieve some of these beauty standards due to economic reasons, they still strive to present themselves neatly and with dignity as best they can. Also, religion always plays a role in shaping their mindset that even though you are not part of that beauty standard, what’s matters most in God’s eyes is the “kagandahan ng iyong kalooban at lakas ng iyong pananampalataya sa Panginoon.”

It's unfortunate that marketing tactics often resort to undermining one's self-esteem by suggesting that you're not attractive enough unless you purchase their products. Their primary focus is generating profits, which can lead to manipulative strategies. This is why it's crucial to have a strong connection with God within you. When you have that connection, the opinions of others no longer hold power over you. You understand your intrinsic value and learn to love yourself. By embracing your worth, you create an environment where others can accept and appreciate you for who you truly are.

Well in my own opinion! You should not comparing people to other nationalities because naturally everyone has differences in all aspects of life and this will only cause to hatred and other things.I guess the most important thing is the attitudes towards others coz we are all created by God and we need to love one another more than other things. We will all back to dust anyway The last thing is to think and what to do to be able to save each once souls for our Salvation when times comes for the final judgment. Thank you and God bless us all.

In an ancient Philippines kasi and many parts of Asia, light skin was associated with class and social status. So paler skin symbolizes richer people who don't work under the sun. Sa European naman they have similar obsession with light skin, but they turned into tanned skin because tanned represents rich people that have time to do leisure activities under the sun.

Marami na talagang mixed Filipinos because of Spanish colonialism even before nauso ang halfies sa media. In my opinion it's embedded in the Filipino mentality that having foreign characteristics is better, kase nga for 3 centuries of being colonized full Spanish or Meztizos(Spanish-Pinoys) until the arrival of Americans... they are treated better than the Indios (term used for Pinoys back then). Also having lighter skin was an indication na hindi ka nabibilad sa araw so you are from a wealthy family unlike those tanned/darker skinned average to below average wage earners na Pilipino. This mindset is heavily embedded na talaga sa culture and mentality ng mga Pinoy, though it's changing naman na in today's generations.

In my opinion, sa mga Filipino Youths lang yung may mga ganyang mindset eh. Yung batayan nila ng beauty is yung pagiging maputi. I may be wrong but I think Filipinos think whiter is preferred and thought of as beautiful started from 300 years of Spanish rule where the mestizos and mestizas started . Then after being ruled by Spain comes the Americans for around 40 years so the exposure of Filipinos to relating affluence and beauty have been on lighter skin

In a nutshell, here's the timeline of trends of beauty standards in Philippine cinema. In the 60s movie stars were mostly fair complected, the so called mestizas and mestizas...no way you could aspire to be a star if you were dark skinned back in the day) Then in late 60s and early 70s a brown skinned petite lil girl with a golden voice to everyone's amazement just rose to unprecedented superstardom...she broke the so called glass ceiling and defied the odds and became the phenomenal star in so short a time...that era was considered the golden era bc she started the phenomenon of screaming hysterical fanaticism...she is still active to this day ...her name is Nora Aunor... To this day, none has ever paralleled her phenomenal story. Today, after hearing those young ladies, the trend is back to the mestizas and mestizos (biracials) trend ... this colonial mentality is here to stay, I suppose....

To be honest, growing up with a tanned skin I have been so fed up of the comments that I got as a child, THEY always call me "black beauty". Why can't they just drop the word "black"? And I could also hear them say, "Maganda ka kahit maitim ka." Like for real? As a child, I used to think that my skin tone will never be up to the standard. But as an adult, I learned to love my tanned skin tone (kayumangging kaligatan). I learned to value myself more than what people used to call me.

its very natural to human that what ever you don't have is what you wanted more. Ex. you are living in a place where everybody has a light skin the are so interested to tan colored skin. and vice versa tan colored skin want to have light skin. But of course its not always 100% we are just talking about majority. I'm also not talking about very dark skin or very light skin. Very dark and very white skinned colors are not considered beautiful in general perspective except for their native people who's already used to it or people with very beautiful faces and body despite of their color being very light or dark. Of course this are just majority of the people (not 100%).

It's still a compliment.. because Filipinos are tanned so we envy white people but it doesn't necessarily mean that we're kinda like degrading dark skin.. so please excuse for that.. actually Filipino ancestors are dark skinned like the tribesmen "Aetas".. we were just infuenced by Spanish and Americans so our mindset were affected by colonial mentality..

beauty standards from the philippines were heavily influenced by the spaniards. they taught our ancestors that being mestiza, lighter-skin and high bridged nose(basically features of a common western girls) is the standard of beauty of all over the world. it became a filipino culture in a sense that being outside of any of those features will be considered less beauty like being darker skin, pango , short and being fat. fortunately, todays generation are more open minded thanks to the social media. as they embrace more of the different beauty standards. BTW, your are all so gorgeous. especially the girls. any chance na mag compete kayo sa mga beauty pageants like miss universe? more of this content please...

TAN IS ALSO BEAUTIFUL🤎 You know dati takot na takot ako sa araw gusto ko talaga pumuti as in like most kpop artist na maputi at makinis then before namutla ako at nanilaw kasi di naaarawan at palagi pa naka spf lotions tapos sakitin ako kasi di masyado nakakalabasat exposed sa initan at sa paligid...then suddenly i just realized that TAN skin really matched to me.(kasi yun talaga skin tone ko bakit ko pa binago?).and now im craving for sun especially going to beach all day long..nag papa Tan na ako ngayon what i mean is going to sunbathing tapos di na ako nagpapayong pag mainit.. then mas naapreciate nila yung kulay ko "HOT" daw??😂 Kailangan lang talaga natin i-embrace ang ating sarili at huwag maging insecure sa ibang tao..kasi unique tayong lahat...like Annika Co from Mini Miss U just said "Who cares if others don’t like you? What matters is somebody still likes you. 💜 We got to be the best version of ourselves 🤗 PS: dati pa ito dp ko nung try hard na magpaka KPOP tapos whitewashed pa ako diyan..moreno na ako ngayon🤎

what they are trying to say is that we filipinos prefer white skin tone because it is the beauty standard that media show to us but as they said at the end of the day they still proud having darker skin or whatever skin tone they have because what matters is the inside beauty... (ps. we dont hate black/ dark skin tone) is just that we are more attracted to white skin tone.

Color of the skin does not so much matter. It is the symmetry and smooth skin that attracts me. I once met an ethiopian beauty. She had dark skin but my greatest shock was it was my first time to see such beauty tnat i had no words to say except: you are so beautiful!!! I turned to her companion and i said: She is so beautiful! She can be compared to the mother of God or to an angel..

I’ve seen quite a few dark-skinned women who are ravishingly beautiful, much more beautiful than light-skinned ones. Therefore I think skin color has nothing to do or less to do with beauty. I’m also attracted to women who have pleasant speaking voice.

Wow girls, I say this again (this is the second video I've watched), your Filipino language skills and the Filipino culture in you is just A.M.A.Z.I.N.G ✨ I don't know about your backgrounds yet, but a Big Appreciation to you two for embracing the most integral parts or integrating into the place you're living in that way💖 And then, there's Chase 😂. Bro, kapatid, bai --- NOT A WORD? How long have you actually been living there? It seems like you've known the nuances of Pinoy culture quite well --- BUTTTTTT.... Okay, hopefully you will eventually love to learn some Filipino speak from your friends beside you there. Coz there's ACTUALLY NO REASON WHY YOU CANNOT EVEN TRY. #pasensyanabrosorrybutnotsorryforsaying Love is give and take bro. Language and respect are the only two things that matter most importantly to any culture. Just imagine Filipinos or any other foreigner in the US refusing to speak English in the States. LOL. 🚫 We Certainly do not want it lost on you dear beloved half Filipinos. We know you already know how to respect the people dude, you are even allowed to forget about all the other aspects of the culture and food. You can definitely shout out loud if you hate some of the exotic foods (especially balut). But REFUSING ANY OF THE LANGUAGES?? NOT EVEN ONE WORD. ✋🏼

Hi again! Thanks for watching our other videos and sobrang appreciate namin ni Liz yung compliment! ☺️ regarding Chase, he does know a few words but the major reason why he is not as comfortable because of the environment (Living only with his Dad) didn’t enable him to speak it. He’s definitely been practicing and improving his Tagalog and let’s try to encourage him to do more 😀

I don't think Chase is refusing the language, and as I can see he loves the culture and being a Filipino. Not being able to speak the language doesn't mean you are refusing it. As a Filipino, we should be more encouraging of our fellow Filipinos instead of saying those things to him.

Somehow religion has something to do with our fascination for white skin. Religion teaches us that white is good and black is evil. Hence you have white angels as the good ones, and dark angels are the evil ones.

Even before world WAR 2, there's a lot of mixed Filipinos already. Spanish occupations, Galeon trade, Chinese, Japanese, American. I would say it wasn't a trend, It was culturally diverse, effect back then.

Because of the influence of K-pop and K-dramas like the ones you mentioned, many Filipinos nowadays are drawn to people who look like Koreans. Only a select few people will describe their dream partner as having Filipino facial and physical characteristics since they consider our noses and complexion to be "ugly," which I find depressing....

Based on my observation, actually having beauty standards came from a person who has deficiency and want to fix the issue to have that complete look. Like from disproportionate to proportionate. This includes skin complexion. But it doesn't mean that, that person has that kind of "disease" and you also have that kind of desease. If it got him/or her better, it doesn't mean that you need it too. Don't be fooled with someones success because you also have your own success. It doesnt mean that it looks good on someone, it will also look good on you. This actually applies on all countries. There is this hypnotism that happens when you look something at is good, and you try to copy it. It's not right at all because that's just a part of what you see. But not a part of you. It's not a one size fits all kind of standard. Kaya may mga mapuputi na hindi naman bagay and may mapuputi na masasabi natin na maganda talaga. And of course we support that because we can tell. So if it's not for you. then just don't do it. After all it's not a standard. Just let people do what's best for them 🙂 btw and ganda nung nasa middle 🙋

Being colonized by Spain , America even Japan gave that huge impact in Filipino beauty standard since all those races are have that whiter skin while Filipinos have the darker/tan skin. This is more likely an after effect of being their colony being white is superior than being tan.

I just recently discovered your channel and my take on this is that this generations mindset is being duped with marketing, adverisements and the likes; of what real beauty is. But I can say that majority of the most beautiful ladies in the Philippines is not white skinned or having that high-bridged or pointy noses. Keep up the good topics!
