If an Aussie told you to eat Vegemite from a spoon, he wanted you to hate it so you wouldn’t eat it ever again. No one in Australia eats a spoonful of Vegemite all at once!
@@jasonfield8823I live in Melbourne.I agree with Fiona.Just the other day I drove past three bakeries to buy a superior bakery pie and a sausage roll.
Greg, when you’re out and about, look for an individual cake shop that bakes their own. Buy a Lamington with fresh cream, an apple turnover with cream, and a sausage roll, then take them home to enjoy them! Way nicer than anything the supermarkets sell! We have Ovaltine, and Akta-Vite which leans more towards a health drink than Nestles Quik and Ovaltine. Old Gold chocolate company was taken over by corporate, like so many other confectioners around when I was growing up.
@@gregjameson327 Yeah, you guys are young so you’ve never known a life without corporate business. My memories go back to the corner store owned by the Levi family. Arnott’s Biscuits were sold loose, taken from a large Arnott’s tin with a colourful parrot on the lid. The shopkeeper weighed out the biscuits you wanted and placed them into a brown paper bag. Fresh Milk was delivered to your door each morning, in glass bottles. The washed empties were left out next morning for the milkman to collect. Life was much simpler then. 😍🇦🇺
In 1919, following the disruption of British Marmite imports after World War I, the Australian company Fred Walker & Co. gave Cyril Callister the task of developing a spread from the used yeast being dumped by breweries.
Good range of snacks, there are different qualities/types of pies, sausage rolls and lamingtons (my favourite is the raspberry jelly covered lamington)! Australian snacks have far less additives than the American snacks! Vegemite and Milo are actually healthy! 👍 Cherry Ripe! 😋 Tim Tams, depends!? 🤔
hahah i hope you're joking about milo, you know the content is half sugar right - that isn't hyperbole, there's 40g of sugar for every 100g of milo. its also got a lot of maltodextrin and soy lecithin. i mean, enjoy by all means but its really, really bad for you and your kids.
Vegemite is spread to taste. Bit less on the toast is better. I've never had it on toast just on bread. Spoon full is ok too it is an acquired taste. And yea vegemite is an industrial leftover from brewer's yeast extract a byproduct of beer manufacturing.
Cue: Aussies across the land stressing out because you're eating Vegemite off the spoon 😱😂 We had Nabisco Chicken-in-a-Biskit in Australia in the 70s and 80s. Might be called Chicken Crimpy now, I think.
10:25 no way. Frozen pies are pretty terrible. The best pies are the ones where the bottom case is hard enough to keep it's shape but soft enough that when you bite down, the filling doesn't fall out everywhere.
I’m a senior, ok I’m 70😱lol. Born and bred Aussie and never had a Tim Tam slam in my life . U are ruining them lol. Just put my shopping away and yes, I bought a large pkt of original TimTams to be eaten, never to be dunked or slammed lol. 😊
@@shaneedwards6704 This is absolutely true. I don’t drink coffee, only tea. And I stopped eating Vegemite on toast and had jam for a few years. Went back to Vegemite and totally understood how foreigners don’t like it - it tasted so strong and so salty lol. I’m back on Vegemite & used to it again. And yes never a Tam Slam Gawd, I don’t even swear 😂. . I should be deported lol. Yes my ancestors have been in Aus from UK for a few generations lol
You can’t be the control for Australia if you don’t even like Vegemite! Straight up Aussie fail!! And you definitely have to disregard any opinions about bakeries not being able to make better pies and sausage rolls than frozen equivalents, again just straight up incorrect!! Old mate needs to represent for himself and his questionable taste buds NOT as a true Aussie control! 🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️
That must be the saddest looking meat pie ever. We have a saying for a really ugly beef pie; Someone's got a face like a dropped meat pie. wtf with the bit about a heated up frozen meat pie better than one from a bakery? Looks like it was microwaved too. Never! Milo too. Add a tiny bit of hot water and stir to partially dissolve the Milo before adding the milk to get both the flavoured milk and the crunchy floaters. Yes, like Ovaltine,,, a malted chocolate flavour. Vegemite, less is more, especially for beginners. Add more butter to the toast too. Classic fresh lamingtons from a bakery are way better than that prepackaged industrial preservative-laden thing from Coles that looked dried out and months old. CherryRipes are my opium. More calories in one than a whole day's allocation in day1 of WW diet. Someone forgot the Twisties though ,
Yea I don't think it swayed me too much to be honest. I would have again the proper way on toast. I could see it being pretty good if you made a breakfast sandwich with it
TIP! Open the top of the meat pie and place a thick slice of cheese on top of the meat.(Replace the top pastry.)Then heat until the cheese melts.. Enjoy with Rosella tomato sauce..
