Same with bite mark analysis... it is now seen as junk science or it has no basis in science. It can be used to same that it looks similar; however, there is no such thing as an exact match. Now think about all of the people who are in prison(or executed) on bite mark analysis alone. It's scary.

@@darkchocolate3390 I was able to find one literary source, "Historic Criminal Trials and Errors" by Don Weber, released earlier this year. I'd imagine Prante has no family to give a shit enough to get him an obituary to publicly announce it. Good riddance. “Prante was found dead on July 7, 2023. True to his character, he had been trying to plant false evidence again, this time exonerating himself, bizarrely explaining away the bite marks (“she asked me to bite her”), and framing two other innocent men for the murder. In his last weeks before his death, he was under investigation for obstructing justice by Wood River Police Chief Brad Wells. According to Madison County Coroner Steve Nonn, like Aaron Kosminski a century before, Prante had been hallucinating before he died. There is no earthly evidence that Prante repented.”

The first medical examiner did a poor job performing the autopsy of Karla Brown. He didn’t open the cranium to observe if a blow was given to the victim, he didn’t see the bite mark…..jeez, you wonder now if these doctors are up-to-date with medical trainings. That being said, I like this lady who performed a second autopsy on Karla’s body, she is good as I have seen her in other episodes, she is sharp. But Karla should have never, ever opened that door, she should have asked before opening the door and then take it from there. People don’t learn that once you open the door, you are at the mercy of whoever is in front of you to harm you. I personally do not open my doors, I always look first and then I ask……and if the person doesn’t want to leave, or give me an answer that I find suspicious, I call the police. Even if it is a cop who is knocking at my door, I still will not open the door, and I will tell him or her that I didn’t call the police…..and depending on the answer I get, I will proceed to call the police department to ask them if they sent an officer to my home. There are a lot of crazy people out there impersonating police officers and one has to be very careful and attentive so nothing can happen to you. This is my advice to anyone. Rest in Peace always Karla 🙏💐

Weird that the so called bite mark wasn’t noticed during the first autopsy and the true cause of death wasn’t either. I’m surprised that they got a conviction. Seems sketchy AF.
@martell203
@martell203 Год назад
I think the profiler just described the suspect that the prosecutor told him that he wanted. No way you can look at a crime scene and determine what kind of car, or what color car, someone drives. The more I learn about this case , the more sketchy it seems.
@sammiepittman3130
@sammiepittman3130 4 месяца назад
A profile is just using details of the crime to gain an understanding about the criminal. The thing about the car was based on the fact that the person lived in the area. So it was based on statistics. It shouldn’t be sketchy profiling isn’t perfect but it can help a lot. But this was in the semi early days.

You could get an idea. Some people strongly ID w their cars. You'll see guys with irritating vehicles because they clearly feel ignored/inadequate. They're also extremely selfish and immature. Why? Because you'd have to be to drive something you modified to be irritating on PURPOSE

Criminal profiling is based on statistics, and you can't argue with numbers. So if statistics say a person who would do this during a crime most likely drives a Volkswagen Beetle then so be it.

There were so many things in this crime that don’t make sense. Changing her clothes; moving her from the couch to the basement (how did the criminal know the layout of the house and there would be stuff in the basement to continue the crime?); pretty much strangling her then also drowning her; putting the coffee pot in the rafters?!? Also, who witnessed the exchange between Karla and John while she was moving in? Seems more likely to me it was the husband, coming up with some convenient facts to put suspicion elsewhere (she wouldn’t wear that sweater in summer). What a weird case.

There are several cases in this series from 1978. DNA was still a good 7 or 8 years away and it wasn't as advanced yet as it would be in the '90s. It likely would have been solved sooner if DNA technology was available.
