The state of Maharashtra is home to many dense forests and diverse wildlife species, to nourish, safeguard, protect and improve the green cover of Maharashtra the Maharashtra state government under the visionary leadership of Shri Sudhir Mungantiwar, Minister of Finance and Planning Forest has taken numerous prominent steps in the last three years, Navegaon, Nagzira, Pench, Sahyadr,i Tiger project and many more wildlife reserves in the year 2014-15. Moreover Bollywood Legend Mr Amitabh Bachchan has been appointed as the brand ambassador of Maharashtra Government Tiger Conservation Project. To recognise is beauty and also to protect the second largest butterfly species found in India the blue mormon was honoured with the status of State Butterfly. To conserve and educate the population on wildlife and nature the State Zoo Authority was established for growth preservation of the flora and fauna of the State the Maharashtra State Wildlife Development Fund was established. Overtime Sanjay Gandhi National Park has played a significant role in wildlife and nature Conservation Day Their great steps have resulted in providing fresh and pure water to Mumbai and also have brought down the dust pollution levels of the city their activities also include awareness programs and a wildlife rescue van. In the plantation sector to increase greenery around school and Institute the Maharashtra forest department in 2015 took the decision of providing plant saplings at concessional rate similarly from monsoon 2015 to enhance the green colour in urban areas the Green Cities of Scheme was implemented by the State Government. Later the Maharashtra State Government took on a major initiatives of planting 50 Crore saplings by 2019 in the first phase 2.81 crore saplings were planted on a single day on 1st July 2016 this activity enter the Limca Book of World Records in the 2nd phase 5.43 crores Crore Saplings were planted during one Mahotsav between 1st to 7th July 2017 found a place in the the Limca Book of World Records to achieve this MEGA goal the State Government also introduce the Green Army Program, a Hello forest 24/7 helpline and MyPlant app for the citizens, social media and digital channels are being highly used to promote this movement. Also and MoU has been signed by Isha Foundation led by his Holiness Sadguru. Because of the consistent efforts the tree cover has improved from 9558 square kilometres in 2015 to 9831 square km in 2017. In the Eco tourism space several tourism projects are being launched like the Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve and Sanjay Gandhi National Park tourist project to promote awareness about leopard and their habitat approval of leopard Safari was given at Sanjay Gandhi National Park and at Chandrapur. To enhance wildlife in on forest areas biodiversity management and waterbody it was undertaken. In social welfare seen a Bamboo Research and Training Centre and Forest Academy is to be set up at Chichpalli and Chandrapur district to help create employment and business opportunity for local people. For protecting the endangered mangroves and its wildlife in Maharashtra the mangrove protection authority been established also due to consistent efforts of the forest department the mangrove forest area has increased from 222 square kilometre 2015 to 304 square kilometre 2015 the mangrove cell is also responsible for establishing Thane Creek Flamingo Sanctuary and have successfully promoted crab culture and oyster culturealso a clean mangrove campaign has been launched 2016 other than this some key decisions were taken by the Maharashtra State Forest Department. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Jan Van Vikas Yojana has been designed to create new schemes for increase employment generation, higher natural food production, better harvesting technique training and development for villages to facilitate minimum conflict of human and wildlife also the families affected by the sanctuaries national parks and other forest project when I receive additional compensation besides regular rehabilitation package.Lastly employment will be provided to eligible citizens in the forest department as per the provisions of the right to service act. Over all the State Government of Maharashtra under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Shri Devendra fadnavis and Shri Sudhir Mungantiwar, Minister of Finance and Planning for this is striving hard to bring about a positive revolution in plantation wildlife Preservation and people's lives with the support of the masses.
