I took a disc grinder to the knee with 36 grit on there when I was in school, not fun. Didn't hurt as much as I thought it would've, but still not fun. Lol.

The only show in tv, where the judges are a 100 💯 100 fair. That’s what I like, that and they make cool things out nothing. Oh, and the respect ✊ in which the deliver their assessment to of the knives.

JimBob It's not that hard or expensive to get started, look for a blacksmith in your area to take classes to make sure you want to invest in it. Pay attention to everything, ask questions relevant to your skill level and you might get lucky to become an apprentice.

Jason should not have been eliminated on the Zande spear's parameters. I replayed it, and it was said: "your shaft must be at least one and a half inches in diameter". His was "at least". There was no mention about maximum diameter.

While you'd think that, you're more likely to get injured in the first place if you wear too much protective gear. The risk of a serious injury isn't vastly reduced by it, so many smiths avoid anything beyond a leather shirt or apron and some leather gloves when working the hot metal, especially when they're under a major time-crunch and they'd be losing time to adding and removing the equipment.

@@PsylomeAlpha But a leather vest is a must in a professional forge. Also, leg protection. Also, no flabby clothing that can get caught in heavy machinery. That's not protective clothing, that's common sense. The young guy did good, but he was playing with fire, grinding in a long sleeve shirt. The guy in the baggy shirt too.

@@horvathbenedek3596 Fair enough. IDK why I felt I shou- Oooooh, that was that time when I was still adjusting to being back on my meds; THAT'S why I was being a contrarian jackass! Sorry, yeah, they should've been wearing more protective clothing. As it stands the polyester suit the young guy was wearing was literally worse than going shirtless. Also, I think I might've thought they were talking about wearing gloves while working the grinders, and like, unless you have gloves that fit perfectly you don't want to be doing that because they're just gonna get caught and pull your hand into the machinery. That's reason for getting or making properly fitted gloves though, not just _not wearing them._

cotton so you dont catch fire, eye pro, and nothing thats loose and flapping. They arent working drill presses, lathes or mills, so really theres not a whole lot to go wrong here.

No work gloves, it's for safety. Gloves get caught in machines and rip your hand off. Better to get a small scratch and keep your hand. Leave your work gloves at home!

@@jamesshives5679 gloves come off in 1 way by pulling from fingers its not a smooth transition and if any part gets pulled into the sand disker, grinding wheel, 9,10 its not gonna pull off smoothly it's like long hair from a female getting her hair caught in a fan. I had a class mate in high school who lost 3 fingers in a matter of seconds with a glove on. I rather get nicked then getting my hand stuck in a disk sander because my glove got caught

@@jamesshives5679 I did stuff similar to this for quite a while in my free time. It's not that the glove will rip your hand off. It's like wearing an unbuttoned shirt or a jacket around a lathe; You just don't do it. Primarily because if that jacket gets caught, that lathe isn't stopping. It's pulling you in, and it's going to hurt. Same thing with wearing gloves. It nicks your hand, and drags that glove, your hand goes with it. That will hurt quite a lot, and will do permanent damage, quite a lot. Back in high school, I saw quite a few people get kicked out of the shop because they refused to listen to the teacher, and thought wearing gloves was a grand idea, and almost did get hurt because of it. Safety glasses, not a bad idea when grinding. Gloves, very bad idea. Anything gets caught anywhere, and you're going to hurt. Possibly forever, possibly for a moment.

This is one episode where a judge stuck his nose in to help a contestant. Drew is trying to look like Alec Steele with the clothes and hair. I really don't like wannabes.
