Join us for Episode 2 of Paul's 1000bhp F82 M4 Competition build. Last time you saw the engine being removed and stripped, this episode it's engine building time.
As with all of our engine builds, everything is balanced and blueprinted. This means precise measurements in so many ways from oil clearances to valve spring rates. This type of engine building means maximum power and reliability - it is a science that we are well versed in.

Why don't people use the material used for wrist pins throughout engines. I've seen hundreds of blown engines and only one with a destroyed wrist pin lol

I would have sold s55 m4 and bought the new m4 and tune that foe the money out into this built. But it's still nice to see people doing crazy builds. This is going to be a roll racing monster.

One reason you might not is if you like the DCT (prior video mentioned "clutches" plural) - not available in the G82

Did y’all do the crack hub also which aftermarket crack hub did you go with?

We did, using a VTT Splinelock crank hub

One thing I’ve always wondered with upgrading engine parts and components, would the engine last longer, and have less issues in the long run, than it would if it was left stock? Or would it be the opposite?

Often depends on the use and spec of the engine. But when we build them, we do so to a far tighter tolerance than BMW do and so if it's all used and serviced correctly, no reason it can't long outlast a standard engine.

In process of building my s55. Can i hone my cylinder walls? Or would the honing affect the special coating on the walls. Using std cp pistons.

We don't, sorry! We can sell new units from BMW if that works.

You said the valve guides were worn, would you say the engine would burn more oil with that problem for these engines as they age?

Yes we expect so. The valve stem seals will be overwhelmed once the guides wear, among many other issues!

What compression are the pistons?

These are std (10.2:1) pistons. However with a few changes, the final measured compression ratio of the engine was just under 10:1 - www.hackengineering.co.uk/product/mahle-motorsport-powerpak-plus-forged-piston-set-s55/

Mate any 100-200 kmh times on this build ?

Not yet, the car has been tuned and is running well on pump fuel/E-blends. We're changing out some of the methanol control and it'll be back soon with more power, more dyno runs and some 100-200 times

@@hackengineering5586 Thanks for getting back to me mate. Any idea how much a build like this would cost? And also is there much of a difference using different pistons ie is there any difference between Mahle or Carrillo? Thank u mate !

@@f80e8 drop us an email on info@hackengineering.co.uk and we'll gladly discuss options and pricing, there are always too many details for a straightforward figure. Carrillo have a great product, we prefer Mahle as we work closely with them and they have a few features that are only offered by them as they work on an OE level in terms of scale
