Man. You have a knack for making something with super simple clean lines and it has a level of complexity to it that you hide so well. Great job as always

Thanks Elijah. That was a feel good video. Having a vision, watching it materialize into such a nice knife. Gives a person such a feeling of pride.🤜🤛

Another great video and great knife. That is the kind of knife that anyone would be proud to own but also not be afraid to use it. Excellent work

I have a decent amount of spring steel(the specific alloy isn't known but it is all the same peice so I should be able to get a mediocre heat treat) I will probably make a few integral knives for forging practice.

It has a rustic but very functional look to it, overall it looks great and some interesting techniques you used while making it, great vid.

haha, right? there is actually a thing about Swiss steel being some of the best back in the day, that some metallurgists have conjectured had to do with the refining effects the extreme cold had on the steel...

Tforce has an "integral" attachment for belt sanders to grind that transition from the bolster to the blade. It is a Brazilian company, but they sell to the American market.

Can you link please? I have family in Brazil and might be able to get it cheap. I can't find it with the description you gave.

many forged knives are over finished so you wouldn't know they had been been forged

thanks for the video. I have a question. how do I prevent cracking in steel 52100 during forging? thank you
@FireCreekForge

it needs to be forged at a high enough temperature, near a yellow heat. i recommend experimenting with the temperature you forge at, and never go below a red heat; in fact you can feel the steel begin to stiffen up under your hammer as it comes down to a low orange, i don’t like to do much if any forging once i detect that change. Of course you can forge it too hot and get cracks but i assume that’s not what’s going on.
