WOW😳😳 i loved watching that, you do such awesome work i want to do a integril bolster soon i have some 1085 round bar i got from pops knife supply last year just for integrils thank you for such a great explaintion of how to do this Mark 👍👍
given me some new info there, been using coil springs to make knives and noticed a few things you did to try out and make things easier for myself, thanks for that
Bit of nerdy info for you. When calculating for steel, the area of a 3/4 round is .44 sq in. and a 1 inch round is .79. Thats the thickness you get on a 1 inch flat.Lets you know how big of a blade you can get if you can just figure out how to forge it out wide. 😃
@@Hathenbrucksteelworks 🤪 What I have seen on here a number of times is that most people get the amount of steel for the blade of an integral pretty close but they either over or underestimate for the tang. Tend to shade over for hidden tang and under for some full tangs. I have seen my fair share of LONG and thick hidden tangs and long bolsters that end up getting ground/filed down.
The only time I’m too concerned is when I don’t leave myself enough material. I’m ok grinding down if things are too big. There’s always going to be wasted material, so a little more waste from grinding is ok with me.
@@Hathenbrucksteelworks Most of my round bar is Don Hanson sourced W2 and I have a very finite supply and when it it gone, there is no more. So I have to be careful about waste.😉
I have a few great hammers, but this one is the first hammer I ever bought. Made by Rovtar Forge. Not only is it a beautiful hammer, but it’s perfect (for me) in almost every way.
Good video. Earned my sub. I made my first knife a week ago. It's so bad and so ugly and I love it so much. My goal is to get good enough at ht's so I can start making some firing pins I can't find anywhere.
Sorry, didn’t mean to sound like the safety please and yes, I have done the same. I just value my eyes so much that I thought I would try and make a statement. Sorry if I offended.
Oh not at all. I completely agree with you. I’ve been much better about wearing a respirator and safety glasses. I recently bought a full face shield with respirator.
