In this episode of GunVenture®, Season 1: An up-close look at some of the oldest known metalworking processes, including the forging and casting of firearms, at Ruger and Smith & Wesson. Plus, Ryan continues the forging fun at a local bladesmith's workshop.
From the Arizona desert, the snowy mountains of Oregon, or wherever else Tom’s plane will go, follow the GunVenture Team as they explore the world of shooting - From hunting to target shooting, and everything in-between. Tom, Chris and Ryan also manage to fit in a few side trips: It might be a visit to a brewery, shooting machine guns, or even off-roading in a Jeep. Whatever it is, you KNOW it’ll be fun!
GunVenture airs year-round on Sportsman Channel. Check your local listings for additional channel information. Watch show segments, get the latest news, and more, at www.guntalk.tv and / guntalktv .

Damn I felt my beard grow an inch or two from that forging scene! I used to work at a factory and shown on "How it's made" I really wish we would have looked half as badass as these guys, they didn't even really want to show us or how our product was REALLY made.

The people operating the forging press also are skilled at charbroiling steaks and hamburger patties during their lunch break!

Some of those old screw machines are hard to beat if you are running high volumes of the same part over and over again. Just because it doesn't have a computer on it doesn't mean it isn't accurate or efficient.

John Moses Browning made his first gun at 11 years old. So don't let the CNC machines and huge forging equipment concern you.

@@ayazmohmand1780 not necessarily you can hammer forge a block of steel to desired specifications and then use that block as a template and then mill it out. Like old ak47 were made by milling a block of steel

This is going to be next big black market... Knowing how to make guns when they take them all will be cash money.

They keep saying quality control. I just got a S&W 686 talo. The sideplate is jagged and doesn't creat that smoothe seam. I called and they told me 5-6 months for turn around time. If they have quality control, how the hell did this firearm even leave the factory. Poor (craftsmanship) quality control. Love the gun but now i have to send it in to get it fix.

The new Model 19 "Classic" is a piece of garbage! Aluminum barrel sleeves, MIM parts, and no fitting. Either make the gun as it was made, or don't make it at all, Smith & Wesson! Stop with the big con job!
