Forgotten Abandoned $16.4 MILLION Dollar Mansion UNTOUCHED With Everything Left Behind

This massive house sits on 30 acres of land that sold to a developer in 2017 for $16,400,000. It was built in 1967.
The neighbouring house was just demolished about 3 weeks ago, and it won’t be long until this one bites the dust as well.
This was honestly one of my personal favourite places I’ve explored in recent months, and I hope you all enjoy it too!

I wouldn't shed any tears about this place it's a place in Aurora Ontario on St John's sideroad I personally have walked through the house and believe me it ain't worth 16.4 million dollars and the only reason why it's left the way it is because a new development Builder is coming in and the people that own the house before took a a buyout and took what was important to them and left

Excellent find with the old cars! '68 they would be 53 years old at the time of my post! Bloody amazing! It is an unbelievable house and perfect size it's big but not too big... Made me angry to see all of the salvageable items in that house just left there (clothes, toys, furniture, cabinets, granite, doors, etc.) How hard is it to call a charity to come pick up stuff?? House seemed too large, too many living rooms; the flow was weird. Huge windows in the bathroom were strange, and so many doors to outside! Great explore, thanks!

I don't know about anyone else, but moving is the hardest thing for me to do, even if it's just me in a small apartment. I get so depressed and stressed out. If I had enough money I would pay ppl, to not only move me, but also to PACK ALL MY THINGS.....usually by the end, when I'm exhausted and overwhelmed, and I have a lot of random stuff that doesn't seem to "fit" in with other boxes.. if I have room in the car or uhaul truck I may just toss all the rest into garbage bags. But if I don't have room for the rest I too, will just leave it.

It’s more than likely foreclosure. Every house that I ran into that had personal belongings left was foreclosed. They are given a certain amount of time to vacate the property, and almost every time they are going somewhere smaller, they are stressed beyond belief since moving is stressful in itself and they are losing their home to a bank. Personal belongings get left behind in almost every instance in my experience.

I do understand just leaving. My aunt had a beautiful home with a reverse mortgage she had maxed out. I was her only relative. I sold some stuff at auction, had an estate sale, and just had to turn the keys over to HUD and walk away. It felt awful but there is a limit to what one person can do.

There’s a recent-ish movie called 99 houses or 99 homes. Very good & it shows how ruthless the banks & developers are when the main breadwinner falls on hard times. It really moved me. There are endless reasons as to why so many things are left behind. Usually the sheriff turns up at the front door with backup & guns & yell at the family that they’ve got 10 minutes to pack up & hand over the keys. If they don’t comply it can get real messy. Usually when the keys are handed over the homeowner gets $300 cash for the house & that’s it..$300 small ones. Could you IMAGINE???

Which is why it’s being torn down, sadly. No one can afford to buy, except for developers. So after sitting abandon for so long, they swoop in with a lower offer, owner takes it, and then the developer levels everything, and builds several smaller “more affordable” homes on the land. Unfortunately, even the smaller homes are priced only a few hundred thousand less than the original home, so not that more “affordable,” just smaller.

The kids grew up, they went away and the parents were lonely. They decided to sell the house and go live in a retirement community. They asked the kids to come home to take their stuff and the toys they had bought for the grandkids. But the cruel children did not come. So they left behind all the toys and the stuff they were tired of. Now they are living in a small apartment in a sunny place where they don't have to worry about the huge cost of keeping that house warm in the winter.

Just a theory (cause it’s fun to guess): original owners lived there, added on, remodeled, raised kids. Kids moved out. Basement not used. Eventually passed away. Kids inherited and rented the house out waiting for that $16 mil offer. Renters get the boot. They know it’s going to be torn down so they just take what they really want. Kids toys were prob old toys kids outgrew. Possible day care situation/grandkids with all the crib/baby stuff. Wasn’t trashed but feels a bit neglected. I don’t need to guess that the basement was incredibly underutilized and the electric bill was prob $700 per month. Thanks for the tour. ❤️

Looks like they took everything they wanted/needed and just left behind the things they didn’t care for. My neighbors house foreclosed and they did the same thing. Sat empty for so many years and was vandalized by teens. Eventually someone bought it and fixed it back up. Sad that this house will be torn down instead fixed up to it’s full potential.

I just watched the whole video. I don't see anything here that has any real value. I'm not wealthy, but I'm just being realistic. Most of the stuff left here would just be extra garbage at a thrift store. All the TVs are old that no one would want, and the two monitors are really small and no one would want them at a thrift store. While the house is very nice... it had flooding and mold issues in the basement, which was indicative of the drywall having been removed from the studs below. As explained in the video... someone bought the land and is building an entire neighborhood / sub-division. This home looks like it was built in the late 1980s, and while a fantastic home (and I would love to have it), it is not any huge loss of architectural design.

Looks like a quick exit with all that stuff left. Beautiful livingroom and kitchen. Loved the pretty views. Nice greenhouse. Wow that bathroom was cool sit in that tub with those windows great. Kids rooms nice. The murals were outstanding and so much work. You can tell this was a good family who had to go fast. Had lots of toys for their kids. Shame this beauty has to go. Again seems sad and strange why all those toys were left. Maybe they were supposed to be donated? Let's hope someone saves some of this. Cool sofas and sweet fireplace. Also liked the french doors. Think those areas with benches were areas to change for the pool. Good job. Stay safe and warm. Cool beams in the ceiling. Wish I had that huge of a house. I don't think they left in a hurry. They clearly were spoiled and had more toys etc than they could ever need. I was hired to help a wealthy family move once. It was disgusting how much they had, the 3 car garage was knee deep in brand new athletic gear, Northface jackets, backpacks and the 4 kids and the parents couldn't be bothered looking through it. The whole house was like that. No organization and just buying and buying. The teens would just ask their mom for the credit card and she wouldnt even ask what for.

@TehKitteh01
@TehKitteh01 3 года назад
There are, but flipping can be much more expensive here, than it is in the states. Tearing it down is usually cheaper. And besides, condos and apartments usually take the place of old houses. Or in my area, used car lots.
@UmmYeahOk

Very few people can afford homes like this in that area. A developer can make a lower offer after being abandoned for so long, level it, and then build several smaller cheaper homes on the property for a bigger profit.

@@chiefjetsonofflare5329 most of the houses Ethan shows are worth US$1mill-$500k where I live, and most of those were built in the 90s or more recent. I don’t know what the cost of living is like in Canada. From what Ive seen in reality shows, it is much higher. I assume they must be better had accommodating this issue with better income, as it’s very common for Canadians to live in these US$500k+ 4000sqft+ US houses for half the year. My theory is many chose to stay for one reason or another, which is how many of these houses become abandoned, and eventually fall into decay as a result of that abandonment. It makes sense that if you wanted a $5-10mil house, you’d just build your own, not fix up a 70s relic, especially if it’s far from the location you wish to reside in. But clearly the demand for cheaper housing is there, which is why developers are doing this in the first place. They’re doing it here where I live. Only they literally bulldoze a million dollar home, and built 30 $700k homes. Cheaper, but not exactly what Id consider more affordable. If you can afford a $700k home, you aren’t poor.

I sort of agree; however....and my ex-wife pointed this out to me once, a big house can actually seem to be easier to keep clean, neat, and orderly, because a small house can and will look cluttered very easily if you're not right on top of it all the time, and really, I do see the validity in that sentiment.

People who say things like “nobody needs that much space” baffle me. Who the hell are you to determine what someone else does or doesn’t need? And why do people feel the need to tell others that they’ve determined and hereby proclaim such a thing? “Attention. Attention everyone... if I could please have everyone’s undivided attention for a moment... I must inform you you, so that everyone is aware that I am a far more intelligent, enlightened, and compassionate person than whomever the wasteful, greedy, environment destroying evil asshole capitalist was who lived in this giant ego fueled waste if space and construction materials which could have been used to build houses for several families who are do not enjoy the benefits of the privilege which these owners took full advantage of. (Owners who were white I’m sure. It’s so obvious. Ugh!). For all the space and materials and energy consumed by an excess like this is just shameful. If these people had any redeeming qualities at all, this terrible house wouldn’t even exist. The fact that some people would live in a place like this and be able to sleep at night knowing there are homeless and hungry people out there is just so selfish. Damn rich white people. I wonder how many people this person had to step on and make poor in order to become this rich. SMH. Ok, you may now return to what you are doing because that is all I have to say at this time. I’ll be just over here if anyone has any questions about the evils of capitalism, climate deniers, stupid republicans, white supremacy and why it’s so obviously the biggest threat to all of our lives each day, white privilege, why white people need to apologize and just shut up, why blacks people cant be racist, green energy, the oppressive nature of straight white Christian males, the continued oppression of women, the myth of women’s rights, normalization of toxic masculinity, male incompetence, the myth of the men’s rights movement, crushing the patriarchy... Yknow, any of the pillars of proven science and society.
