Today I’m sharing a quick, easy 5 minute challenge for October. Dig out those forgotten and neglected art supplies and start using them again. Gather leaves from your neighborhood, a large piece of watercolor paper, your neglected supplies and let's start creating! This is such a fun way to get inspired and revitalize your forgotten art supplies. Enjoy!

Derwent doesn't make luminance which arent watercolor...or am ii clueless...

Derwent makes water soluble pencils and inktense which are lovely. Luminance by Caran d'Ache are just colored pencils, sorry about the confusion.

Always so inspiring! I have piles of pressed leaves from all over as I miss the change down here in hot as Hades Texas so keep them in books to remind me of the Fall up North. Now I know what I can do with them. Fabulous idea. Thank you. 🎉

I’m going to struggle to find tree leaves here, but can use shrubs and plants. The changing of the leaves is one thing I loved in Indiana and miss.

Shrubs and plants will work great but you can also just look up the shapes and freehand them if you have favorite leaves.

Hey Kelly, thanks for the idea for an October challenge. I'm not sure I understand though. Today 30Sept, I will go out to collect some leaves, press them overnight to keep them flat to be ready for 01Oct. Then what do Ido? Trace one leaf a day? Decide if it should be painted or not? Then, do the same thing each day and so on until the end of the month?. Please help as I love the idea and the leaves are gorgeous right now. Thanks ~ Paula

You are welcome and yes, just like you stated. Each day you create one leaf in the medium of your choice, just make sure it is a forgotten art supply LOL Fill the page with as many leaves as you can and watch the layers create fall beauty!

As long as you have enough leaves, I think you can choose how you organize that part of the challenge:)

I just recently started painting, so I have minimal supplies...nothing forgotten. But a question...what does the splashing do? Do you always splash? And what about the water that goes all over?
@kellyhoernig
@kellyhoernig 22 часа назад
I use splashing as a way to add texture and color values to my paintings. I don't splash everything but I do splash a lot because I enjoy the texture. If the extra water is too much I will blot it with a paper towel but mostly I just keep going without giving it too much thought at all.

Hi What a cool and creative idea. I love that you showed us the painting from years ago, to see the full idea! Just a quick info on the Luminance pencils, they are from Caran d’ache and aren’t water soluble. I love them dearly. I do like the effect in your painting, but if you desire to have the effect with the watercolor pencils, change the pencils. I think that would be a very suddle and neat effect with the fall colors.
@kellyhoernig
@kellyhoernig День назад
You are so correct, thank you that. I forgot the Luminance are just colored pencils, I was thinking about the Caran d'Ache Museum Aquarelle pencils that are water soluble. Hope you give this challenge a try, enjoy!
