Kirigiri has always been one of my favorite female characters in Dangaronpa. Because of her calm kuudere ways and abilities to solve cases even under pressure
Won’t lie, I kinda wanted her to be the protag in the first game. Don’t get me wrong, Naegi is an interesting characters, but he’s a bit of a dunce at times and Kyoko shows up to either pick up the evidence or help out Naegi with the specifics.
Reminds me when I wondered “what if we got a game where Kyoko was the protagonist” but then discovering it apparently already exists it really seems interesting with it’s horror and eerie atmosphere as you partake investigations I’d really like games like that.
At this point I want a Danganronpa anime called “Danganronpa: before everything” where in each episode it would be a different character of the Danganronpa series and it would focus on themselves beofre the horrible event or before entry of high school or something. Literally like that would be fire
14:24 Hagakure is there, thinking on how relevant is his entire existence to the Danganronpa series. Even when Kyoko saw him, she was like :"Oh it's Hagakure 🙄....I'm so happy rn👁👄👁" and just leaves lmao
12:06 Fun fact: I’m pretty sure that the aliens are actually a reference. A while back there was a book that a scientist wrote about fictional mouse-like animals that evolved to use their nose for various things on a small secluded island. I forget what it’s called and the specifics, but it’s a notable early example of speculative biology/evolution. It also became a bit of a running joke in some parts of the scientific community.
The book is called “The Snouters: Form and Life of The Rhinogrades” written by Gerolf Steiner under the pseudonym Harold Stumpke. It’s a very fun book which parodies how nature field guides are written by using such an absurd setting, very much worth a read if you can find a copy/pdf.
I’m currently reading the Kirigiri novels and while i don’t mind fan translations and have watched some of Kirigiri Sou on YT I’d like for us to eventually have English official English translations. I’m glad they did for stuff like DRIF and DE Hagakure in the games but need moreeee
I've heard of this game before, and dammit I'd love to see it released in Western markets! EDIT: can I also just remark that it's brilliant that not only is it canonical in Danganronpa that a high school girl brought about the end of civilisation, but now it's also canonical that somewhere out in the world of Danganronpa there was a race of human-plant hybrid beasts that devoured people? This franchise just gets zanier and zanier, and that's why we all like it.
Fun fact! In the Danganronpa Subreddit a user by the name of ItsMagik1 has translated all of the Kirigiri novels in English. So for people who want to read the novels who aren’t able to read Japanese are able to access Kirigiris backstory. The translation is found when you search Kirigiri novel translation/translated. Enjoy!
I heard about this game via reddit where someone did a rework of a sprite from this game. I was both happy and depressed after finding out that this game is a legit creation of spike however its only in Japanese. Because of this game I started wondering if I should learn Japanese. ( Did I spend 10 minutes writing this comment yes. Wil someone read it no.)
@@BrickFighter13 SC is aware of the game since they re-released it with the 10th anniversary box set and made a Kirigiriso poster for it. They just might have no interest in translating it.
A few years ago when I was active on the Danganronpa sub-reddit, I remember reading the PDF translation that someone had posted a link to. Perhaps it was one of the redditors you mention. I'm pretty sure I'd never have even heard of this game if it wasn't for that - it truly is the spin-off of a spin-off!
Since Tara A. Devlin was mentioned, I'd recommend her ebooks. There's lots of books that gather Japanese urban legends, online legends, and other spooky stuff. If that's your jam you'll love them.
Ahhh, yes Kirigiri Sou, one of the other few japan exclusive pieces of Danganronpa media, alongside DR0, the Kirigiri and Togami novels, and the Killer Killer manga, I've already heard about it before this video, and now hearing about from you it might look like a fun experience.
@@phantomlord77 yeah, IIRC some of the Kirigiri novels were translated, all three of the Togami novels are translated, and both volumes of DR0 are translated(hell DR0 is also getting a fangame)
I remember seeing a translation of this game and seeing the little references to the Danganronpa Kirigiri novels and being super excited. I never finished the goddam novels bcs I could never find the last novel translated😔
I've heard of Kirigirisou, but I never could find much on it. I knew about Kyoka and that's as far as my knowledge of it went haha so thanks for this video! Also, I would love love LOVE it if you do end up making videos on Danganronpa Kirigiri. I read the first volume, and I love it. However, trying to find the others is a whole annoying thing so yeah. And I mean, more videos on my fav character? Yes please 💜
recently someone did a full translation of the Danganronpa Kirigi novel from V1 to V7 (it can be found on reddit). I really hope you would make a video about the novel 😊
Thanks for the video and info about Kirigiri Sou. Didn't know about it. Looking at the game it has very good ambiance. 0:36 Clever use of the Joker's mask. 6:16 Definitely would love to see videos about the Kirigiri novels. The alien ending and the one with Kyoko not acting herself look really fun to experience.
So wait is there a "real" fantranslated version of this game? Or just a PDF you put next to the game while playing? I did not get that part completly and that weird stuff about aliens is probably like a 3rd reason why spike chunsoft did not translate the game. But anyways i always like a mystery story myself so i would really like to play the game :) thank you for making this video :3
I found out about this only recently when I was looking up scary stuff and easter eggs, and ended up finding a few on one of the Kamaitachi games, the second one if I'm not mistaken, then found out about what Sound Novels were, found out about 428 Shibuya Scramble being related to them (And also to the anime CANAAN for some reason?) and yeah :3
Oh yeah, I was so surprised finding out about this few years ago. I've really enjoyed the read, can recommend this to you. The walkthrough made by juicedup14 is okay, but it's kind of hard to hear, so you either better go read, of do both, listen and read, just my recommendation. And Weeby, where are the links? There are none in description or comment section.
Geez, I heard about this years ago I forgot about it, but then I saw your video and instantly remembered it and the stories. I've never played it but I have read through the English translation.
Any chance that you could do videos on the manga Danganronpa Zero or did you do videos on it? I'd find it cool to learn about the characters and story.
Speaking of old Danganronpa games, do you know a Danganronpa game where you can see Junko in a black High School uniform? Because I saw a post like that on RU-vid a long time ago and have never been able to find it, I'll try again real soon.
I've never heard about this. Interesting. I've certainly heard of the Kirigiri light novels which I intend to read at some point, but not Sou. I'll give the PDF a look-see.
Why do the first 2 endings seem like a reference to Goosebumps? If you don't know, there's a book in the Goosebumps series (horror for children) called "Stay out of the Basement". In this book, the protag's father works as a botanist and tries mixing plant DNA with animal DNA. Lots of weird things happen, but when the protag and her brother go into the basement, they find an ID card of a man who came to the house. It turns out theres a plant copy of the dad and the real dad. The protag pours weed killer on the plant copy, killing it. It might just be coincidence that the plot ended up like that, but there are similarities between the two
